11 Years Living Off-Grid in an Earthship Style House







Hélène Dubé and her partner Alain Neveu from Es-Cargo (http://www.es-cargo.qc.ca/) have lived off-grid in Quebec, Canada for 11 years in a self-built earthship style home made of recycled tires filled with earth and large south-facing windows.

Their water is gravity fed from a spring-filled cistern placed up the hill from their home, their power comes from solar energy, and they use a composting outhouse toilet.

For refrigeration, they make their own ice during the winter by freezing water in recycled windshield washer jugs outside, and then they store them in a root cellar inside unplugged chest freezers insulated with sawdust. They manage to keep their food cold with these homemade ice blocks from January to July, and then they get ice blocks from a neighbour.

For hot water they use approximately 200 lbs of propane each year.

For heat they have a homemade rocket stove that is an efficient way to burn wood, and they also use it as a cooktop in the winter.

They would eventually like to be self sufficient in their food production and have gardens, hens, and they've begun to build an aquaponic system as well. But they do find that growing all of their own food, running workshops, and staying on top of all their other projects to be an incredible amount of work for just two people.

They're hoping to attract more people to the property to form a small community of inspired and like-minded permaculture enthusiasts.

Political consultant and strategist Roger Stone appeared in the latter half, talking about the 2016 presidential campaign, and news and controversies associated with himself and the Trump administration. Stone spoke about recently recovering from a severe illness-- he believes he was poisoned with polonium, as well as being the victim in a seemingly deliberate hit-and-run broadside car crash in Broward County, while he was on his book tour. He suspects these attacks might have been done to prevent him from testifying in the government hearings on Russian involvement with hacking and election interference. According to Stone, Trump's election is a repudiation of the globalist agenda of the Clinton/Bush years-- endless wars, erosion of civil liberties, massive spending, huge debt, defacto open borders, and a trade policy sending American jobs overseas. Further, he declared that "there is no doubt whatsoever that Donald Trump was under surveillance at Trump Tower...his phones were bugged, not only at his New York office," but his private residences in Manhattan and Palm Beach, going back years, and this has recently been justified because of the suspicion of his colluding with the Russians.

It purports to show the destruction of the Black Night Satellite that many people in US intelligence agencies like the NSA insist has been stopping humans from leaving the planet earth.

Could #Trump Audit The FED ?

Is Trump going to usher in a new era of prosperity and innovation, or is he going to be the one standing in the center ring when the circus tent comes down? Remember some voted for Trump as political molotov cocktail.

“Trump is a business man” you say, “he’s going to make things happen”. Cut taxes, cut regulation, invest a trillion dollars in infrastructure (including a ginormous wall), punish companies that move factories overseas, rebuild the military, restore relations with Russia, start a trade war with China. And you know a new arms race would create jobs.

There’s a lot to unpack there, and those are debates worth having, however much of this hinges on a variable that Trump doesn’t control: the Federal Reserve.

The Federal Reserve has held interest rates near zero for close to a decade. They also engaged in quantitative easing from 2009 to 2014, accumulating 4.5 trillion dollars worth of mortgage backed securities and treasury notes (they are still holding those assets by the way). This inflated stock and bond market bubbles of historic proportions.

When a friendly face is in the white House, crashes are typically attributed to a war, a terrorist attack or some other external variable (for example 9/11, which masked the unravelling of the tech bubble in 2001). The Trump administration, however, is an excuse in and of itself.

Word is the Fed is leaning towards increasing interest rates aggressively in 2017, and may engage in anti-inflationary measures to offset Trump’s infrastructure stimulus plans. That means that the flow of money and credit is about to be tightened. It also means the Fed is setting itself up for a showdown.

If Trump plays by the rules, he will have to wait until 2018 to replace Janet Yellen. A lot can happen within that timeframe.
