Hubble & Space Exploration -- Coast To Coast AM - April 27, 2015

In the first half, political commentator and economist John Lott reacted to the breaking news on the riots in Baltimore, which arose in the aftermath of the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African American whose spine was "80% severed" after being taken into police custody. "Even if it turns out to be correct that the police behaved improperly, what does that have to do with destroying all these little businesses that are around there-- what do those individuals have to to do with this?", he pondered. In response to the rioting, which has included arson and looting, police have been restrained, perhaps too restrained, he commented, yet this may be in relation to credible threats made by gangs such as the Crips and Bloods to "take out" law enforcement officers.

People complain about the militarization of the police, but much of what they are using is of a practical nature-- protective gear and vehicles that can shield them from attacks, such as rocks and broken bottles being thrown at them, Lott explained. There's been a building up of animosity and anger since the Trayvon Martin case, and incidents that followed such as what happened in Ferguson, Missouri with the police shooting of Michael Brown that has "really created a tinderbox," he remarked. In Baltimore, the rioters are destroying their own community, and will be bearing the long term costs-- instead they should be focusing on bringing to justice those who may have done something wrong in the Freddie Gray case, he argued.

In the latter half, space historian Robert Zimmerman reflected on the 25th anniversary of the Hubble Space telescope which has reinvigorated and reshaped our perception of the cosmos, and he also offered commentary on current and future space exploration and research ventures. Before Hubble was launched, astronomers' vision of the cosmos was fuzzy. But after the space telescope began to orbit beyond Earth's atmosphere, it offered the first sharp look at the universe, he detailed. Even the naysayers to the project were won over by the edifying results that came back, he added.

Hubble is "the telescope that would not die," successfully being repaired in the 1990s when it initially launched with an out-of-focus mirror, as well as receiving new instrumentation in the 2000s to extend its lifespan, he continued. The James Webb telescope, now set to launch in 2018, is not a replacement for Hubble, as it's an infrared rather than optical device, and will study deep space, rather than yield fascinating images, he noted. Zimmerman is enthused about current private space ventures as opposed to government programs. "What I want is a robust chaotic aerospace industry of many companies competing, each having their own goals and dreams in space, and then what you get is unlimited potential," he said.

BREAKING: Martial Law Declared in Baltimore after PURGE

 BALTIMORE | The governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency and activating the National Guard after the BALTIMORE PURGE burned buildings and vehicles.

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has issued a citywide curfew. The Maryland National Guard Adjutant General Linda Singh was quick to declare "it's not martial law"

Call it whatever you want. The army national Guard is ready to use any force ordered. Just recently The Maryland Army National Guardsmen participated in a Non-lethal Individual Weapons Operator Course, which trains Soldiers how to respond as a civil disturbance reaction force.

The Guardsmen were trained on the use of a Taser, pepper spray, crowd control techniques and more, preparing them to assist in civil emergencies.

The guard has also trained for traditional warfare and live fire scenarios. While Maryland civilians are armed with rocks.

The guard also has recently received a new UH-72 Lakota surveillance helicopter for deployment at the governor's decree.

So far 15 officers have been injured in retaliation to the death of 25 year old freddie gray while in the hands of those entrusted to protect and serve.

A police car was destroyed and a CVS store set on fire as countless other stores were looted and pillaged.

State of Emergency Declared as Baltimore Protests Turn Violent

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan discusses why he signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Baltimore.








 Gov. Larry Hogan signed an executive order Monday declaring a state of emergency and activating the National Guard. And, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has issued a citywide curfew to start Tuesday night.
Speaking Monday evening, the mayor issued a curfew to start at 10 p.m. and last until 5 a.m. on school nights. The curfew starts at 9 p.m. for those 14 and under.
Police officers were injured, stores were looted and fires were set Monday evening as vandals ran through Baltimore.

City police say as many as 15 officers have been injured Monday afternoon in northwest Baltimore, where a large group of juveniles converged and began to throw bricks and other items at officers. The officers were injured with broken bones and cuts, and one was unresponsive.

Bill Holter Warns About Gold and a Big US Dollar Reset Coming Sooner Than Later






Bill Holter of MilesFranklin.com gives a U.S. dollar and gold update. Holter warns there is a biggest short squeeze in history coming for gold and a big reset for the U.S. dollar coming sooner than later. Holter says, “You have to ask yourself, what is the dollar going to be reset against? My thought is the Chinese have every reason to argue to reset gold higher because they have gold. . . . Any country that had gold, their gold would be revalued higher. If they hold gold in reserve means their reserves would be revalued higher. If everybody else is showing their gold, it would force the U.S. to show its gold. Mathematically, I don’t see any way the U.S. does have the gold. . . . I do know that, at some point, there will be a massive short squeeze in gold once the derivatives chain breaks. Once Greece defaults, or some bank defaults and the derivatives chain breaks, there is going to be a massive outburst of I want my gold, and I want it now. This will be the biggest short squeeze in the history of history.”

Holter predicts, “We will be in marshal law by this time next year,” and adds, “There is something wrong and there is a storm out there, and the historical safe haven for all-time has been gold. The hope is to reset the system without crashing it, but I am not sure it can be done. There is just too much debt outstanding. I think everything will be reset, and China will lead the reset.”

Viral pandemics are a major threat to the United States, perhaps amongst the worst we have ever faced. Pandemics may occur naturally, by an accidental release from a laboratory, or bioattack by a nation state or terrorist organization. Bioengineering and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are particularly dangerous. The technology is advanced, widespread, and inexpensive. Some scientists believe that a new, bioengineered GMO could pose an “existential” threat to our species.

Even if the virus is not very lethal, the breakdown in economic activity and loss of law and order that ensues could kill millions of Americans if the collapse is severe and enduring. Today’s world is more dependent on “just-in-time” deliveries of food and essential supplies, more vulnerable to disruptions in economic activity, and generally less able to survive quarantine situations. “Collapse” (defined here as a cessation of most economic activity and widespread lack of law and order for a prolonged period of time) is likely to result from a viral pandemic or other disasters that trigger panic, loss of food/water/medicine for many citizens, and subsequent breakdown in law and order.

The U.S. military, and National Guard in particular, will play a key role in recovering from a severe pandemic, especially in avoiding or coping with a collapse in economic activity and law and order. Most of the guard troops deployed for Hurricane Katrina response and recovery operations were used to support law enforcement. Looting and violence in other recent public disturbances also suggest that military forces will be needed during a pandemic to back up security at medical facilities, help law enforcement maintain order, conduct quarantine enforcement, and transport (or escort) food and essential supplies.

Webster Tarpley is an American historian, economist, journalist, lecturer and a critic of U.S. foreign and domestic policy.

He received a BA degree summa cum laude in English and Italian from Princeton University in 1966. While a student at Princeton he became a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and was a Fulbright Scholar at University of Turin in Italy. Tarpley also obtained a MA degree in humanities from Skidmore College, as well as a PhD from the Catholic University of America in History.

As a European based journalist in the 1980s, Tarpley wrote a study on the assassination of Prime Minister Aldo Moro. The study claimed that the murder was a false flag operation orchestrated by Propaganda Due (a Masonic Lodge) with the cooperation of senior members of the Italian government secret services that was blamed on the Red Brigades.

As an activist historian he first became widely known for his book George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography (1992), a masterpiece of research which is still a must read.

During 2008, he warned of the dangers of an Obama presidency controlled by Wall Street with Obama: The Postmodern Coup, The Making of a Manchurian Candidate and Barack H. Obama: The Unauthorized Biography. His interest in economics is reflected in Surviving the Cataclysm: Your Guide Through the Worst Financial Crisis in Human History Against Oligarchy. He is currently completing a study of Pearl Harbor as an episode in Wall Street's war against President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the New Deal, and FDR's economic bill of rights. His books have appeared in Japanese, German, Italian, French, and Spanish

Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies! He and Carol, who reside in Surfside Beach, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have seventeen grandchildren.

While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Paul's limited-government ideals were not popular in Washington. He served on the House Banking committee, where he was a strong advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve's inflationary measures. He also was a key member of the Gold Commission, advocating a return to a gold standard for our currency. He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or abolish federal taxes, spending, and regulation, and used his House seat to actively promote the return of government to its proper constitutional levels. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to his medical practice.

Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent the 14th Congressional district of Texas. He serves on the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, and the International Relations committee. On the Financial Services Committee, Rep. He has been a distinguished counselor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and is widely quoted by scholars and writers in the fields of monetary policy, banking, and political economy. He has received many awards and honors during his career in Congress, from organizations such as the National Taxpayers Union, Citizens Against Government Waste, the Council for a Competitive Economy, Young Americans for Freedom, and countless others.

Dr. Paul's consistent voting record prompted one Congressman to comment that "Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers' ideal of the citizen-statesman.
