Chinese Whistleblower Forced to Sign Letter of Regret
Meng Guangfa, a 53 year old teacher in Guizhou Province, accused school principal Chen Lin of embezzling money from the government subsidized lunch program that feeds 30 million students from poor rural families.
Meng said he was attacked after confronting the principal and suffered from a brain concussion. After he posted a message online about the embezzelment, local education authorities threatened to take his job away if he didn't retract his message. They also forced him to sign a "letter of regret."

The Obama administration fears those missiles will be used to shoot down an airplane or blow up one of our embassies, he said.
"We had troops ready to deploy in Croatia to go (to Benghazi) that night of Sept. 11, 2012 to rescue Americans. We have learned that one of the reasons the administration is so deeply concerned -- we have been told there were 400 surface-to-air missiles stolen, and that they are on or about in the hands of many people, and that the biggest fear in the U.S. intelligence community is that one of these missiles will be used to shoot down an airliner."
DiGenvoa said the information came to him as a result of his legal representation of Benghazi whistleblower Mark Thompson.
"This information comes from former intelligence officials who stay in constant contact with people in the special ops and intelligence community. And it is pretty clear that the biggest concern right now are the 400 missiles which have been diverted in Libya and have gotten into the hands of some very ugly people. And they worried specifically, according to theses sources, about an attempt to shoot down an airliner."

Emanuel Minos Prophecy ~ The End of this Age , Toward World War III ?
A prophecy by a 90 year old woman in 1968. It was given to a norwegian apostle and preacher Emmanuel Minos. He wrote it down, thought it was too unbelievable and put it in a drawer and forgot about it. In 1997 it resurfaced, and was published in a local newspaper. Is this about the present time, or what??
An elder in the Pentecostal Church at Moss, Norway, Martin Andersen, heard the following prophecy in 1937, in Moss:
'When oil comes out of the North Sea and along the Norwegian coast, things will begin to happen, and the return of Jesus is approaching.'
When these words had been proclaimed, people stood up in the congregation and asked the man to sit down and not speak such nonsense. 4. People from poor countries are moving to Europe, Scandinavia and Norway. But people begins to dislike them and they became more and more hard against the refugees and they treat them as they treated the Jews before WWII.
Then the cup of sin runs over and a local war begins and it becomes more and more international. It will end as an Atomic War. Air, Water and Earth will be polluted.
People from Europe, America, Australia, Japan and other Industrialized countries must leave their home countries because they have been destroyed by the atoms. They are trying to seek refuge in the undeveloped countries that have escaped the most of the destruction. But they aren't welcome.

Our Love and Joy Forgotten – By Jason Liosatos
‘Our system has become so brutal, harsh, competitive and xenophobic, that we are becoming dismembered from love’.
We have become so disconnected and pulled away from our feelings of love and joy that we are getting used to living without it, or are living in a compromised state as far as love is concerned. Most of us, if we are a human being, struggle with this inner rift of wanting to give, receive, and experience the love we really are, and we can become cold and closed to the love in ourselves and from others, and it can almost be like a check mate in chess, a sort of stale mate where we cannot give or receive it, not just with others but with ourselves.
It is fascinating how we can feel a real fear if we think of telling someone our feelings for them, maybe from a fear of rejection, from old wounds and scars from our youth, when we once opened our hearts wide and got crushed and badly hurt in doing so. In the section ‘contacting the great comforter love’, I explained the feeling of love that is available for everyone hidden just beneath the harsh structures of ourselves, which anyone can access again, because it’s there awaiting its rediscovery.
We must not blame ourselves for our estrangement from our love connection of giving and receiving, we can blame the dreadful system we are part of that robs us of our sensitivity, love, caring, and softness. We are protecting ourselves from hurt and pain, and we know all too well that in this system of punishment and reward we may well get more punished than rewards if we are too soft, gentle, caring, loving, giving and over sensitive, so we lock up our access to love and overcompensate just in case we are brutalized again by the system or by someone.
So we learn to love a bit, just enough to get by, and let our love just peep out through a little crack to our broken hearts and let others love shine in just a bit through that crack to our hearts, and we learn to live with our wounds. The good news is that once we recognize that rift has taken place then it gives us the chance to retrace our steps back to, and into our moment to moment connection with ourselves and love. Once we see where we were misled on the map, we can re-member and re-tie back to that dislocation.
Feeling love in us again is like plugging back into life again, sure we still get problems, life is full of challenges and things to overcome to get what we need to survive, but without love it’s harder, because without love we are merciless and ruthless with ourselves and that spills over onto others. RECORD NUMBER OF AMERICANS RENOUNCING CITIZENSHIP TO AVOID TAXES
The number of U.S. taxpayers renouncing citizenship or permanent-resident status surged to a record high in the second quarter, as new laws aimed at cracking down on overseas assets increase the cost of complying and the risk of a taxpayer misstep.
A total of 1,130 names appeared on the latest list of renunciations from the Internal Revenue Service, according to Andrew Mitchel, a tax lawyer in Centerbrook, Conn., who tracks the data. That is far above the previous high of 679, set in the first quarter, and more than were reported in all of 2012.
Taxpayers aren't required to explain the move, but experts said the recent rise is likely due to tougher laws and enforcement.
"The IRS crackdown on U.S. taxpayers living abroad seems to be having an effect," said Mr. Mitchel.
The IRS declined comment.
Lags in reporting renunciations might mean that many who appeared on the current list made the move months earlier. Taxpayers who renounced can be subject to an exit tax, and people who renounced last year may have avoided higher taxes on capital gains and income that went into effect in 2013.
The U.S. is rare in that all income earned by citizens and permanent residents, even those living abroad, can be subject to U.S. tax, according to Bryan Skarlatos, a New York lawyer. The U.S. also confers citizenship on people who are born on American soil.
The U.S. launched the tax crackdown after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and ratcheted up its efforts after 2009, amid evidence that UBS AG UBSN.VX +0.53% and other foreign institutions helped U.S. taxpayers hide assets.
Some taxpayers have applied for IRS limited-amnesty programs, in which they pay stiff penalties for past noncompliance but avoid prosecution.
Tax lawyers say the crackdown has ensnared smaller violators who weren't intentionally evading U.S. taxes.
In addition, a law enacted in 2010, the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, or Fatca, requires foreign financial institutions to certify they aren't hiding U.S. taxpayer assets, which lawyers say is leading some to reject U.S. customers.
Taxpayer penalties for failing to report assets can be severe, including up to 50% of an account balance for each year.

The web of rules is "overly burdensome," said Jeffrey Neiman, a former federal prosecutor who led the 2009 UBS case, which resulted in the bank's agreeing to a $780 million settlement. The cost of complying with various rules and regulations can be steep even for people with small tax bills.
Carol Tapanila, who moved to Canada more than 40 years ago and is now retired, renounced her citizenship in November and appeared on the current list. She says her U.S. taxes amounted to about $250 last year and she didn't take the step to avoid paying them.
Legal and accounting fees and other costs of making sure she was in compliance in recent years have added up to nearly $40,000, says Ms. Tapanila. "It is nothing but stress."
Expatriation can also be costly, requiring that taxpayers prove they have properly paid five years' taxes, among other things.

the debt is so high and un-payable that we keep getting money loaned just so we can service the interest. Its like the credit companies that hawk in and loan money to people who can not pay it back. Not sure if there is international bankruptcy law, but I could see the US forfeiting its assets. Oh yeah we already are doing so. "In other words, these are promises that the government made but which the government can break at any time." Social Security, Medicare, and VA health benefits: I'm too young for the first two and my contributions to them will likely never be realized. However, I would be dead without VA healthcare. This article potentially took several years off of my life expectancy, so thanks because I'm not at all sure that I want to live long enough to see this thing through to the end. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to help out the younger generation that will likely not see any of these benefits. Even people who, for whatever reason, did not enroll in the VA within their first 180 days of leaving the military are cast into the mix of easily forgotten. Fighting for this nation was a mistake in the grand scheme of things even though I don't regret anything that I did on a personal level. I would never sign up again though, and neither would most of the veterans who I know.
Oliver Stone Calls Snowden a "Hero"
Oscar-winning film director Oliver Stone weighed in on the controversy surrounding National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden, hailing him a hero at a news conference in Tokyo on Monday (August 12).
Russia has granted a year's asylum to Snowden, whose disclosures triggered an international furor over the reach of U.S. spy operations as part of its counterterrorism efforts.
"Snowden is a hero to me. Edward Snowden is a hero. Because he did this not for profit, not to give, exchange, give secrets away that could hurt our country supposedly. I haven't seen one evidence of that. He is doing it out of conscience. The higher law of his conscience is dictated it. He sacrificed his life for this," Stone said.
He praised Russian president Vladimir Putin for 'doing the right thing' and standing up to a United States, which he said, has used the threat of terror attacks as an excuse for more Orwellian control.
"But this is big brother in a way that Orwell could never foresee. They can see into every home. Obama says 'Well, don't worry about it, we're not listening in.' Yeah, but you could listen in and we know that somebody in the future, if it's not you, it could be Mr. Bush three, who comes along or, Miss Hillary Clinton, whatever," Stone said.

He said Japan would surprise the world and thaw relations with its neighbours if it started recognising its own past.

Stone mentioned that producing the documentary was the most fulfilling film experience he has ever had and reinforced the belief that he was doing the right thing.

OneMy scenario is based on Russia and China working together first. Their combined troop strength alone sweeping through central Asia and driving into Europe by way of Turkey and the Caucasus would be enough to make it to France and give Britain diarrhea. America wouldn't be entered, but our military would most probably not survive fighting at current personnel levels. And the most likely final scenario would lead to either limited regional nuclear exchanges or an all out global incineration. The best choice would be for all parties to do the math and stand down in the first place. But, mankind just can't get enough of the game of war...

The trio of aspiring journalists—Alex Lancial, Tara Molina and Jake Stein— produced a documentary entitled "Scholarslip". The 26-minute production examines the student debt crisis in the United States and delves into issues local to Arizona. Illustrated through the voices of student debtors as well as university and government policymakers, "Scholarslip" explores five critical issues: increasing costs of tuition; deteriorating quality of higher education; diminishing value of a college degree in the job market; student dependence on state and federal financial assistance; and the effects on personal lives and aspirations. Lancial, Molina and Stein entered and documented the lives of three university students, each experiencing different personal and financial struggles yet sharing a common desire to pursue a college degree. Russian Man Beats Credit Cards Company in Their Own Game
If what this guy did was fraudulent, then each and every time the credit card companies rewrite their contracts in micro font, and add "unless we hear from you, the new terms apply", are also committing fraud. It will be an interesting case. This guy is a hero! This was nothing short of genius. They sent him an offer, he counter offered, and the bank accepted when they issued the card. Had he accepted the contract without reading it, the bank would have asked "Didn't you read the document you signed? The terms are clearly spelled out in the contract." There is no fraud here. Dmitry spelled out his terms, and it was up tot he bank whether or not to accept the agreement. They accepted his modified contract without reviewing it. Sucks to be them. I applaud the judge for seeing things as he did. I am feeling slightly compelled to try this one day.
