The Tokyo Electric Power Co. says almost all the nuclear fuel in one of its reactors at the Fukushima plant has melted. The discovery at Reactor 1 should help with the clean-up operation and decommissioning of the stricken nuclear power station.

The Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) and the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) have been working since February, studying the interior of the reactor building at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant.

TEPCO, which is in charge of operating the plant, used cosmic rays to inspect the reactor building. By analyzing the flow of muons, which are subatomic particles generated when cosmic rays collide with the atmosphere, the utility was able to create an X-ray like image of what the inside of the reactor looks like.

As part of the drills that began Monday, paratroopers were scrambled from their bases across Russia and airlifted to distant areas, marines practised landing on a frigid Arctic coast and air force jets flew to the Kaliningrad region sandwiched between NATO members Poland and Lithuania.

Shoigu said at a meeting with the top brass that the military has successfully conducted a quick build-up of "combat capability in the Arctic, in the Baltics and in Crimea."

The war games, which were ordered by President Vladimir Putin, include the deployment of state-of-the art Iskander missiles to Kaliningrad and long-range nuclear-capable bombers to Crimea.

Ships from Russia's Northern Fleet have cropped up in the English Channel twice over the past few months, while RAF jets were scrambled to intercept a Russian bomber off the coast of Cornwall last month as the country has flexed its military muscle. The Arctic ice is slowly melting, and Russia is positioning itself to take advantage of new shipping routes along with natural resources available beneath the Arctic seabed.

It has been translated into several foreign languages and become the top-selling UFO book in the world.

All three pilots are part of a broader Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program to modernize screenings at American entry and exit ports, including at the highly politicized Mexican border, with the aid of new biometric technologies. The program is known as Apex Air Entry and Exit Re-Eng​ineering (AEER) Project, according to the leaked slides.

These pilot programs have the goal of “identifying and implementing” biometric technologies that can be used at American borders to improve the immigration system as well as US national security, according to the slides.

Fed Not Patient and Confused on Interest Rates

 I predicted that the meddling Obama supporters were doing in Israel would backfire, and it did-- big time. Netanyahu won, so now what? A Palestinian peace deal has moved to a back burner. Some in the press have reported Netanyahu has cancelled the so-called two state solution to form a Palestinian state. That is not really accurate. Netanyahu said that “under prevailing conditions” the two state peace deal in not going to get done.

Meanwhile, the Obama Administration is pushing to get a deal done with Iran to curtail its nuclear program that it has repeatedly said is for the peaceful production of energy. Israel isn’t buying it and says the Obama deal will allow Iran to get nuclear weapons. The Obama Administration has not fully and publicly disclosed the deal. Some think that, too, will be something the Obama Administration will take directly to the U.N. and bypass Congress.

That brings us to the Federal Reserve announcement that it will be dropping the word “patient” in its forward guidance when it comes to interest rates. This is the word my friend Gregory Mannarino focused on last week and said if the Fed dropped that word, then the markets would sell off. Maybe Fed Head Janet Yellen listens to this show because she also said, “Just because we removed the word patient from the statement doesn’t mean we are going to be impatient.” Does the Fed know how weak and confused it looks?

By 1960, the income of a single school teacher for example was enough for him to buy a home, have two cars, and raise a family. Since then, the economy has doubled but the earnings of the average American household have gone nowhere.

Another disturbing reality is that CEOs of America’s largest corporations were paid an average of about 20 times the pay of their typical worker 30 years ago and now their pay is well over 400 times. But according to this specialist from Saint Thomas University the inequality problem could be resolved through cuts and taxes.

To make matters worse the US higher education has become unaffordable to many, affecting the income of many families especially on states with a high number of immigrants like California, Texas and Florida.

According to the Brookings Institution, a Washington D.C. based think tank, the gap between the rich and the poor in Miami is one of the largest in the United States. The study also reveals that although unemployment is decreasing in the US, wages are not high enough, making a dangerous decline of the American middle class.

Laurence Kotlikoff-U S Treasury Bonds One of the Riskiest Securities in the World

Boston University Economics Professor Laurence Kotlikoff says, forget U.S. Treasury bonds. “I think they are one of the riskiest securities in the world because interest rates are likely to go up. I think the Fed is going to have to keep printing money because Congress isn’t paying our bills, and that’s going to lead to inflation eventually. So, I think long term Treasuries are extremely risky and they can drop 5%, 10% or 20% overnight. That could put my bank that was viewed as perfectly safe today--out of business. So, we could have inflation take off, and interest rates go up. We could have banks fail, and that could lead to runs on other banks. That’s the scenario,” says Professor Kotlikoff.
