Webster Tarpley -- US Ruling Class vs. Russia in Ukraine and Syria

Webster Tarpley Historian and President of Washington Grove Institute, a think tank in Washington D.C, Webster Tarpley, discussed the conspiratorial mindset, and shared his intriguing analysis of current geopolitical and historical situations. More and more people are turning toward conspiracies because the "official story" behind such events as 9-11 and the JFK assassination are unbelievable or fantastic, he said. Tarpley doesn't consider himself a conspiracy theorist, but a seeker of truth, though he admitted that the uncovering of facts in many instances often does point to conspiracies. We live in an oligarchy run by financiers, and they often do conspire together for shared goals, he noted, adding that they compose a shadow government that secretly rules the US, intersecting with people at the State Dept., the CIA, and perhaps the Treasury and the Federal Reserve.

Tarpley spoke about his forthcoming book about Pearl Harbor and the assassination of FDR. We're told a lot of fakery about Roosevelt like he provoked Japan, and that he kept his Naval Admirals in the dark, but the opposite was true, he said. Further, a group of Wall St. Republicans that FDR put in control of the Pentagon wanted a defeat to weaken FDR in the postwar world, and Churchill knew the time and place of the Pearl Harbor attack but kept quiet in order to draw the US into the war, he continued. Roosevelt was poisoned by a female Russian painter in April 1945, Tarpley claimed, and Stalin reportedly told FDR's son "your father was poisoned/murdered by the Churchill gang."

Tarpley also commented on current situations in France, China, and Russia, as well as Syria and Libya, two countries that he visited during recent turmoils. America can get out of its economic woes by seizing control of the Federal Reserve, and stop using it to give 0% loans to bankers and financial interests, and instead give these loans with a hundred year maturity to the states, who could then start massive infrastructure rebuilding projects, he argued.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the CFTC has opened a civil investigation into the matter while prosecutors from the DOJ simultaneously examine the price setting process for gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Precious metal benchmarks have been under increased regulatory scrutiny ever since the 2012 scandal over Libor rate manipulation broke. Erin weighs in. Then, Erin is joined by Peter Schiff – CEO of Euro Pacific Capital and host of the Peter Schiff Show. Peter gives us his take on Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen’s remarks to the Senate and tells us if there’s a chance of a hike. Meanwhile, the Islamic State militant nicknamed "Jihadi John," who has been featured in several beheading videos, has been identified as Mohammed Emwazi, a Kuwaiti-born former resident of London. In other news, two U.S.-led coalition airstrikes have reportedly killed over three dozen people in Iraq, including at least 20 civilians. Also this week, UNESCO is has condemned the Islamic State for destroying the Mosul public library, which housed more than 8,000 rare books and manuscripts. UNESCO described the incident as "one of the most devastating acts of destruction of library collections in human history." Earlier today, video was posted online that appears to show members of the Islamic State smashing ancient artifacts inside a Mosul museum. The video shows men toppling statues and using sledgehammers and drills to destroy the artifacts. The Guardian reports one of the statues destroyed was a winged-bull Assyrian protective deity that dates back to the 9th century B.C. ISIS in America ? -- Judge Napolitano

Three New York City residents -- two with Uzbekistan citizenship, and one a citizen of Kazakhstan -- plotted to travel to Syria to join ISIS militants and 'wage jihad,' the Justice Department announced on Wednesday. One of the defendants also offered to kill the president of the United States if ordered to do so, the criminal complaint alleged. The men were identified as Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, 24, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Uzbekistan; Akhror Saidakhmetov, 19, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Kazakhstan; and Abror Habibov, 30, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Uzbekistan.

 Many people are sensing a gathering darkness overtaking our nation. This unsettled feeling is growing among many “conservative” Christians, who see our freedoms being eroded by an increasingly antagonistic agenda of the power elite on both sides of the political spectrum.

We feel “something wicked this way comes,” yet many cannot put their finger on exactly what awaits us. It seems as if we are living in a state of mental confusion, although we have become quite adept at containing our own uneasiness just below the surface of our normal existence.

While we might acknowledge its presence during the quiet times we manage to steal from our otherwise overburdened and hectic lives, we are often quick to dismiss our ominous feelings as artifacts of unsubstantiated paranoia. Too many overstated claims from the internet, perhaps, or wild notions without any basis in fact, we might attempt to reason.

After all, life is generally good as we can still hit the drive-thru at Starbucks for our morning dose of designer coffee to carry us through the day. We can still insert our ATM cards into a bank kiosk and withdraw cash for our needs. As we drive to work, transport our children to school, run errands and busily perform our unremarkable daily tasks, we look around us and see people, just like us, traveling about, working and engaging in the normal activities of life in the twenty-first century.

3 AlJazeera Journalists Detained In Paris for Flying Drone Over Densely-Populated Area

 Three Al Jazeera journalists have been detained in Paris for operating a drone in an urban area. The arrests follow sightings of unmanned aerial vehicles at sensitive locations in the French capital this week.

All three journalists are foreign nationals, Paris prosecutors' spokesperson Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre said.

Associated Press reported that the journalists, found near the Bois de Boulogne woodland in western Paris, were aged 70, 54 and 36.

"The first was piloting the drone, the second was filming and the third [was] watching," a judicial source told AFP news agency.

The source said there has been no evidence that the journalists were involved in the drone appearances near the Eiffel Tower, the US embassy, Place de la Concorde, or the Montparnasse Tower – the tallest skyscraper in the French capital – over the past two nights. At least five UAVs were spotted.

Drone owners require municipal permits to fly UAVs over densely-populated areas, and rule breakers face punishments of a year in prison or a €75,000 ($85,000).

Arizona Outage: Banks Shut Down After CenturyLink Fiber Failure Kills Internet, Phones

PRESCOTT - A failure in a fiber line owned by CenturyLink just before noon Wednesday, Feb. 25, cut telephone and Internet service for customers across northern Arizona.

Alex Juarez, a spokesman for CenturyLink, said the company dispatched technicians to find a break was somewhere near the Interstate 17 corridor, north of Deer Valley, but possibly as far north as the Camp Verde area.

Juarez said the outage extended across the north-central part of the state, from the Prescott area, to Cottonwood and Flagstaff. Just before 3 p.m., he said crews had located the problem. However, he said at that time he was unable to give an estimated time for repairs.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said 911 calls in Yavapai County may not be answered on the first try. He asked callers to keep trying if they can't get through.

Students Launch Historic Debt Strike, Refusing to Pay Back Predatory College Loans

http://democracynow.org - Students and activists are taking direct action over what some have called the nation's next financial crisis: the more than $1.2 trillion in student loan debt. The massive cost of U.S. college tuition has saddled millions with crushing debt and priced many others out of the classroom. Now, 15 former students of the for-profit Corinthian Colleges system have launched what they say is the nation's first student debt strike. The students have refused to pay back loans they took out to attend Corinthian, which has been sued by the federal government for its predatory lending. Meanwhile, another activist group has announced it has erased some $13 million of debt owed by students of Everest College, a Corinthian subsidiary. The Rolling Jubilee uses donated funds to purchase debt at discounted prices, then abolish it. We are joined by two guests: Laura Hanna, a filmmaker and activist who helped launch Strike Debt's Rolling Jubilee initiative, and Latonya Suggs, a student debt striker in the "Corinthian 15" who is $63,000 in debt after completing a two-year program in criminal justice at Everest College.

Bank Branches at JP Morgan Chase Will Close, Bank Tellers Being Replaced by Mobile Banking

 JP Morgan Chase, the nation's largest bank by assets, is undergoing some major changes. It will close 300 branches by the end of 2016, that's 5 percent of its total branches. It says bank tellers will continue to be replaced by mobile banking and more elaborate ATM machines. Chase will instead focus on more private offices and will increase marketing to its wealthier clients to drive them to its Private Client Division. JP Morgan Chase hopes to save $1.4 billion dollars in savings with these changes this year, with more savings in 2016. The bank is trading just below its 52 week high around $60 a share.
