Coast To Coast AM December 19, 2016 Arthurian Legends & Atlantis Evidence
In the first half, historical detective Graham Phillips joined Dave Schrader to present compelling evidence that suggested King Arthur was a real living warrior who led the Britons around the year 500, and that the legendary Camelot, Merlin, Excalibur, and Knights of the Round Table, were all based on facts or real people. Examining overlooked ancient manuscripts in the vaults of the British Library, Phillips concluded that the real life warlord Owain Ddantgwyn, who united British factions to repel an Anglo-Saxon invasion, was actually King Arthur. Owain was known as "the bear" and the word for that in their language was ARTH, he explained. Based on recent archaeological research, Phillips pointed to the ancient site of Viroconium as being "Camelot," Arthur's fortified capital. The Celtic warriors, circa 500 AD, used to sit in a circle around a cauldron, and because of the seating, they looked at each other as equals. "I think this is where the theme of the Round Table came from," which in medieval times became an actual table with knights sitting round it, he continued. The sword, Excalibur, may relate to the real practice of throwing a great warrior's sword into a sacred lake upon their death, he added. ------------------------------ In the latter half, author and researcher Andrew Collins offered an intriguing hypothesis to the enduring legend of Atlantis. He argued that what Plato recounts is the memory of a major cataclysm at the end of the last Ice Age, when a comet devastated land masses in the Caribbean. Plato knew of the journeys of ancient mariners, who visited islands in the far reaches of the Atlantic, and these mariners were told by indigenous people of the catastrophic events from their distant past which tore apart their islands, he explained.
