Revolution of Terror

Focusing on both humanity's idealism and its capacity for violence, this program dramatizes the ways in which the noble motives and legitimate causes of the French Revolution managed to spiral into a reign of terror, as the revolutionaries' original goals become overshadowed by the radical tactics of Robespierre and other leaders. An LCA release. 19 minutes, color.
Nobility was a target only because they might be capable of taking action against Robespierre. Innocent French citizens, rich or poor, were bullied, mugged, brutalized by barbaric fascists laughingly calling themselves "revolutionaries". The real work of the people was the work that ended the terror. Essentially, the faux "National Assembly" blocked the people from both paricipating in and being heard in the Third Estates General. Robespierre and Napoleon had taken France over from the inside.
