The IRS and Congress Both Hold Our Liberty in Contempt

This
week the Justice Department announced it would not charge former
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official Lois Lerner with contempt of
Congress. Some members of Congress requested that Lerner be charged with
contempt after she refused to testify at a congressional hearing
investigating her role in denying or delaying the applications for
tax-exempt status of “tea party” and pro-limited government
organizations.
Cynics might suggest it is not surprising that a
former government official would avoid prosecution for refusing to tell
Congress about how federal employees abused their power to help the
incumbent administration. These cynics have a point, but the problem
goes beyond mere partisanship. Government officials are rarely
prosecuted for even the most blatant violations of our liberties. In
contrast, federal prosecutors routinely pursue criminal charges against
whistleblowers. For example, the only American prosecuted and imprisoned
in relation to the government's use of torture was whistleblower John
Kiriakou!
While some officials like Lois Lerner who find
themselves at the center of a high-profile scandal or partisan dispute
can expect harsh treatment from Congress, this is the expectation, not
the rule. Executive branch officials usually receive deferential
treatment from members of Congress. I recall one hearing on government
surveillance where a representative actually apologized to a government
official because Congress had the gall to ask that official to testify
about the government’s ongoing surveillance of the American people.
In
contrast, private citizens called before Congress are harangued and
even bullied. Congress should stop using the hearing process to
intimidate private citizens and start using it to intimidate those
government officials who are threatening our liberty. For example,
Congress should continue to investigate the IRS’s ongoing attempts to
silence organizations that work to advance free markets and individual
liberty.
My Campaign for Liberty organization has had to battle
an IRS demand that it hand over personal information regarding some of
its top donors. The IRS is either ignoring, or ignorant of, the numerous
precedents protecting the right of organizations like the Campaign for
Liberty to protect their members’ privacy from government officials.
The
IRS is drafting a new regulation that would empower the agency to
revoke an organization's tax-exempt status if that organization sends
out a communication to its members or the general public mentioning a
candidate for office by name sixty days before an election or thirty
days before a primary. By preventing groups from telling their members
where candidates stand on issues like Audit the Fed and repeal of the
PATRIOT Act, this anti-First Amendment regulation benefits those
politicians who wish to hide their beliefs from the voters.
Since
the IRS’s power stems from the tax system, the only way to protect our
liberty from this agency is to eliminate the tax code. Promising to end
the IRS is a popular applause line for politicians wishing to appear as
champions of liberty. This week, John Koskinen, the current IRS
commissar, responded to these cries to end the IRS by pointing out that
shutting down the IRS would deprive Congress of the revenue needed to
fund the welfare-warfare state. Koskinen has a point. Congress cannot
shut down the IRS until it enacts major reductions in all areas of
government spending.
Politicians who vote for warfare abroad and
welfare at home yet claim they want to shut down the IRS should not be
taken seriously. Freeing the people from the IRS’s tyranny is one of the
best reasons to end the welfare-warfare state and return the federal
government to its constitutional limitations.

My Secret Life in the CIA: The Real Story Behind Argo - Cold War Spy Culture (2000)
Antonio Joseph "Tony" Mendez (born November 15, 1940) is an American CIA technical operations officer, now retired, who specialized in support of clandestine and covert CIA operations. He has written three memoirs about his CIA experiences.
Mendez was decorated, and is now widely known, for his on-the-scene management of the "Canadian Caper" during the Iran hostage crisis, in which he exfiltrated six American diplomats from Iran in January 1980. They posed as a Canadian film crew, and as part of their cover, the diplomats carried passports issued by the Canadian government to document them as Canadian citizens.
After declassification of records, the full details of the operation were reported in a 2007 article by Joshuah Bearman in Wired magazine.[3] This was loosely adapted for the screenplay and development of the 2012 Academy Award-winning film Argo, directed by Ben Affleck, who also starred as Mendez. Mendez also attended the 70th Golden Globe Awards to give a speech about the film, where it was nominated (and later won) for Best Motion Picture – Drama.
Mendez is of Mexican descent, and has Italian, French and Irish ancestry from his mother's side.[5][6][7][8][9] He was born in Eureka, Nevada, in 1940 to John George Mendez (June 12, 1917, Atlantic, Iowa - October 24, 1943, Salt Lake City, Utah)[10] and Neva June Tognoni (October 23, 1919, Lund, Nevada - October 6, 1995, Chandler, Arizona), where he attended local schools. Mendez was interviewed in Open Your Eyes magazine, and he explained that he never learned to speak Spanish, since his father died when he was quite young. "I think of myself as a person who grew up in the desert" he claimed, and saw no problem with Ben Affleck portraying him on screen. He moved with his family to Colorado as a teen. After graduating from high school, he went on to study at the University of Colorado.
Mendez continued to work as an artist after college. He supported himself by working as an illustrator and tool designer for Martin Marietta.[13]
In 1965 Mendez answered a blind advertisement for a graphic artist. He was hired by the Central Intelligence Agency in 1965, becoming an espionage artist for the Technical Services Division.[9][13]
Mendez worked as a CIA officer in South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. His work in the agency frequently dealt with forging documents, creating disguises, and handling other graphical work related to espionage. He served in the CIA for 25 years. He was awarded the Intelligence Star on 12 March 1980.
Mendez and his first wife, Karen, had three children, including a son Ian who died in 2010, and sculptor Antonio Tobias Mendez. Karen Mendez died of cancer in 1986.[14]
In the mid-1980s, Mendez worked with Jonna Goeser, also a CIA officer, on rebuilding the US security organization in the Soviet Union and later Russia. They married following Mendez's retirement in 1990, and had a son together.
Since retiring from the CIA in 1990, Mendez and his wife Jonna, herself a 27-year veteran of the CIA,[13] have served on the Board of Directors for the International Spy Museum. He works full-time as an artist.
Mendez has written three non-fiction books: Master of Disguise: My Secret Life in the CIA (1999), memoir of his CIA experiences[15] Spy Dust: Two Masters of Disguise Reveal the Tools and Operations that Helped Win the Cold War (2003), with Jonna Mendez and Bruce Henderson. Argo: How the CIA and Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History (2012), with Matt Baglio, a more lengthy account of the Canadian Caper.
His first work was lauded in 2002 as one of three "landmark memoirs"[15] by John Hollister Hedley, former Chairman of the CIA's Publications Review Board.[16]
Mendez was interviewed by Errol Morris in the First Person TV series in the season one episode "The Little Gray Man."
He is played by Ben Affleck in the film Argo.

While 20% of Americans will die in such attacks, he argued that nuclear attacks are survivable and promoted the idea that people construct fall-out shelters in their basements, as well as increase their self-sufficiency, as an EMP attack will knock out electricity for up to a year. He also foresees that America will go to war against Iran, probably in 2011-- the U.S. is just waiting for the right provocation.

Jim Marrs - Pushing Obama On Disclosure
Jim Marrs (born December 5, 1943) is an American former newspaper journalist and New York Times best-selling author of books and articles on a wide range of alleged cover ups and conspiracies. Marrs is a prominent figure in the JFK conspiracy press and his book Crossfire was a source for Oliver Stone's film JFK. He has written books asserting the existence of government conspiracies regarding aliens, 9/11, telepathy, and secret societies. He was once a news reporter in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and has taught a class on the assassination of John F. Kennedy at University of Texas at Arlington for 30 years.
Beginning in 1992, Marrs spent three years researching and completing a non-fiction book on a top-secret government program called the Stargate Project involving the psychic phenomenon known as remote viewing, only to have the program canceled as it was going to press in the summer of 1995.
In May 1997, Marrs' investigation of UFOs, Alien Agenda, was published by HarperCollins Publishers. Publishers Weekly described Alien Agenda as "the most entertaining and complete overview of flying saucers and their crew in years." The paperback edition was released in mid-1998. It has been translated into several foreign languages and become the top-selling UFO book in the world.
In early 2000, HarperCollins published Rule by Secrecy, which claimed to trace a hidden history connecting modern secret societies to ancient and medieval times. This book also reached the New York Times Best Seller list. In 2003, his book The War on Freedom probed the alleged conspiracies of the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath. It was released in 2006 under the title The Terror Conspiracy.
Marrs has been a featured speaker at a number of national conferences including the annual International UFO Congress and the annual Gulf Breeze UFO Conference, but he also speaks at local conferences, such as Conspiracy Con and The Bay Area UFO Expo. Beginning in 2000, he began teaching a course on UFOs at the University of Texas at Arlington. Marrs usually also gives a book signing at Brave New Books in Austin, Texas at least once a year.

End time (also called end times, end of time, end of days, last days, final days, or eschaton) is a time period described in the eschatologies of the dominant world religions, both Abrahamic and non-Abrahamic.
The Abrahamic faiths maintain a linear cosmology, with end-time scenarios containing themes of transformation and redemption.
