Bitcoin Exchange CEO Commits Suicide

"A young American CEO who apparently committed suicide in Singapore was involved in the world of the bitcoin, but was also struggling with other issues prior to her death, friends and colleagues said.

Autumn Radtke, chief executive of virtual currency exchange First Meta Pte Ltd, was found dead on February 26. Police said they were investigating her "unnatural" death, and "preliminary investigations showed no foul play is suspected."

Neighbors said they thought Radtke jumped to her death from a residential apartment complex near her home."* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

Historian and President of Washington Grove Institute, a think tank in Washington D.C, Webster Tarpley, discussed the conspiratorial mindset, and shared his intriguing analysis of current geopolitical and historical situations. More and more people are turning toward conspiracies because the "official story" behind such events as 9-11 and the JFK assassination are unbelievable or fantastic, he said. Tarpley doesn't consider himself a conspiracy theorist, but a seeker of truth, though he admitted that the uncovering of facts in many instances often does point to conspiracies. We live in an oligarchy run by financiers, and they often do conspire together for shared goals, he noted, adding that they compose a shadow government that secretly rules the US, intersecting with people at the State Dept., the CIA, and perhaps the Treasury and the Federal Reserve.

Tarpley spoke about his forthcoming book about Pearl Harbor and the assassination of FDR. We're told a lot of fakery about Roosevelt like he provoked Japan, and that he kept his Naval Admirals in the dark, but the opposite was true, he said. Further, a group of Wall St. Republicans that FDR put in control of the Pentagon wanted a defeat to weaken FDR in the postwar world, and Churchill knew the time and place of the Pearl Harbor attack but kept quiet in order to draw the US into the war, he continued. Roosevelt was poisoned by a female Russian painter in April 1945, Tarpley claimed, and Stalin reportedly told FDR's son "your father was poisoned/murdered by the Churchill gang."

Tarpley also commented on current situations in France, China, and Russia, as well as Syria and Libya, two countries that he visited during recent turmoils. America can get out of its economic woes by seizing control of the Federal Reserve, and stop using it to give 0% loans to bankers and financial interests, and instead give these loans with a hundred year maturity to the states, who could then start massive infrastructure rebuilding projects, he argued.

Russian soldiers are blockading Ukrainian navy command ship Slavutych at the Crimean port of Sevastopol

The crews of two Ukrainian naval ships at dock in the port city of Sevastopol in the Crimea region of the country armed themselves on Wednesday as tensions between Ukraine and Russia continued to grow.

The corvette Ternopil and the command ship Slavutych were being blocked by four Russian navy ships in Sevastopol's harbour, in a standoff which has lasted over a week.

A supposed Russian ultimatum on Tuesday for the two Ukrainian warships to surrender or be seized passed without action from either side.

The crews of the two ships had kept their arms locked away since being blocked in the port, but revised this stance when a group of security forces arrived on Wednesday morning.

The troops would not identify which country they represented, but they were widely believed to be Russian soldiers.

As well as taking up arms, crews of both ships fastened mattresses to the railings around the ships in order to prevent hooks and lines being used to board them.

A Kremlin aide was quoted on Tuesday as saying that if the United States were to impose sanctions on Russia over Ukraine, Moscow might be forced to drop the dollar as a reserve currency and refuse to pay off any loans to US banks.

Mr Sergei Glazyev, who is often used by the authorities to stake out a hardline stance but does not make policy, was cited by RIA news agency as saying Moscow could recommend that all holders of US treasuries sell them if Washington freezes the US accounts of Russian businesses and individuals.

Details of a leaked phone call between EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton and Estonian foreign affairs minister Urmas Paet suggest that the US-backed opposition was responsible for hiring snipers who gunned down protesters in Kiev and not the deposed government of Viktor Yanukovich, as the media widely claimed.

Following the dust up in Ukraine the United States has announced it will send warplanes to Poland and expand NATO's air patrols over Baltic countries.

"This morning the Defense Department is pursuing measures to support our allies," Pentagon boss Chuck Hagel told the Senate Armed Services Committee. He said it is "time for all of us to stand with Ukrainian people in support of their territorial integrity."

The U.S. has suspended military cooperation with Russia. All scheduled training exercises and other exchanges have been cancelled.

Currently there are four F-15 fighter jets on patrol. The Pentagon will send an additional six and also one KC-135 aerial refueling tanker.

The Defense Department collaborates with Poland on aviation training with F-16s and C-130 transport planes. Officials say they may add more aircraft and personnel to the mission.

Poland, a former Soviet satellite state, is closely aligned with the United States. It borders the Russian exclave Kaliningrad in the north and Ukraine to the southeast.

Project MKUltra is the code name of a U.S. government human research operation experimenting in the behavioral engineering of humans through the CIA's Scientific Intelligence Division. Historian and President of Washington Grove Institute, a think tank in Washington D.C, Webster Tarpley, discussed the conspiratorial mindset, and shared his intriguing analysis of current geopolitical and historical situations. More and more people are turning toward conspiracies because the "official story" behind such events as 9-11 and the JFK assassination are unbelievable or fantastic, he said. Tarpley doesn't consider himself a conspiracy theorist, but a seeker of truth, though he admitted that the uncovering of facts in many instances often does point to conspiracies. We live in an oligarchy run by financiers, and they often do conspire together for shared goals, he noted, adding that they compose a shadow government that secretly rules the US, intersecting with people at the State Dept., the CIA, and perhaps the Treasury and the Federal Reserve.

Tarpley spoke about his forthcoming book about Pearl Harbor and the assassination of FDR. We're told a lot of fakery about Roosevelt like he provoked Japan, and that he kept his Naval Admirals in the dark, but the opposite was true, he said. Further, a group of Wall St. Republicans that FDR put in control of the Pentagon wanted a defeat to weaken FDR in the postwar world, and Churchill knew the time and place of the Pearl Harbor attack but kept quiet in order to draw the US into the war, he continued. Roosevelt was poisoned by a female Russian painter in April 1945, Tarpley claimed, and Stalin reportedly told FDR's son "your father was poisoned/murdered by the Churchill gang."

Tarpley also commented on current situations in France, China, and Russia, as well as Syria and Libya, two countries that he visited during recent turmoils. America can get out of its economic woes by seizing control of the Federal Reserve, and stop using it to give 0% loans to bankers and financial interests, and instead give these loans with a hundred year maturity to the states, who could then start massive infrastructure rebuilding projects, he argued.

President Barack Obama said Monday that if Russia continues an incursion into the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, the United States would take diplomatic and economic steps to "isolate" the country.

Speaking to reporters in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama said that invading the Ukrainian territory was a "violation of international law" that puts Russian President Vladimir Putin "on the wrong side of history."

"What cannot be done is for Russia with impunity to put its soldiers on the ground and violate basic principles that are recognized around the world," Obama said. Qualifying his threat on Friday that "there will be costs" for a Russian invasion, the president added, "Over time this will be a costly proposition for Russia."

"If in fact they continue on the current trajectory they're on, then we are examining a whole series of steps—economic, diplomatic—that will isolate Russia and will have a negative impact on Russia's economy and status in the world," Obama said.

State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters Monday that it was "likely" the United States and allies would pursue sanctions against Russia. "At this point we're not just considering sanctions, given the actions Russia is taking," she said. "It is likely that we will put those in place, and we are preparing that right now."

American officials conceded Sunday that Russian military forces now have "complete operational control" of the Crimean peninsula, the home of Russia's Black Sea naval base, a day after Putin won the approval of his parliament to invade Ukraine.

Obama called on Congress to swiftly approve an aid package for the fledgling Ukrainian government. "I would hope that would be the first order of business," when Congress reconvenes for votes later this week, Obama said, adding he hoped the issue would be "outside of partisanship." Moscow's move to occupy Crimea with Russian troops is a declaration of war on Ukraine according to interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.

"This is actually a declaration of war on my country. We urge Putin to pull back his troops from this country and honour bilateral agreements. If he wants to be the president who started a war between two neighboring and friendly countries, he has reached his target within a few inches," said Yatseniuk, warning, "We are on the brink of disaster."

Although there has been no violence, Russian troops now occupy key positions throughout the Crimean peninsula, including airports and communication hubs.

Ukrtransgaz, a Naftogaz Ukrainy subsidiary, operates the natural gas pipelines in Ukraine. The pipelines are used to transit Russian natural gas to eighteen European countries, including France and Italy. Naftogaz is the sole importer of Russian natural gas provided by Gazprom, the largest extractor of natural gas and one of the largest companies in the world.

Russian-controlled natural gas giant Gazprom has threatened to disrupt gas supplies to Europe following warnings by John Kerry and others that harsh economic sanctions could be imposed on Moscow, as the Ukraine crisis threatens to spiral into a trade war.

"Simmering political tensions in Ukraine, that are aggravated by inadequate economic conditions, may cause disruptions of gas supplies to Europe," the company announced today.

Although the monopoly said it would attempt to reduce export risks, Gazprom's chief financial officer Andrei Kruglov cautioned that Ukraine had failed to fulfil its debt obligations. This followed Gazprom spokesperson Sergai Kupriyanov's warning on Saturday that Ukraine would see its account with Gazprom canceled as a result of an overdue tab of $1.5 billion dollars.

President Obama spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin for 90 minutes on Saturday following the "uncontested arrival" of Russian tanks in Ukraine.

The White House released a photo of that phone call, with Obama decked out in rugged denim.

The Reagan-esque image is an almost comically effort by the White House to portray a tough looking Obama to the American people, a likely reaction to the pointed criticism over his timid response to Putin's aggression.

But that would be far too lazy, and this is far too important. Plus there's a great story behind this weeks post, so allow me to set the scene: Start by imagining you are in our main office...

Welcome to our weekly company meeting. Like most businesses, each week we have a scheduled time where staff from all departments meet and report on what they achieved during the past week, as well as what will be happening in the near future. For us, this happens every Friday afternoon. It's the only time during the week when the phones are predictably quieter, a handy result of being located on the West Coast and marching to the tune of an East Coast market close. It's nice to catch up with everybody, sometimes we have several laptops out with team members Skyping in from all corners of the globe. There will usually be a birthday or two to celebrate-- so it's also a fantastic excuse to eat some cake and chocolate dipped strawberries if that's your kind of thing. It certainly does the trick for me!

At these weekly meetings our CEO, Mike Maloney, usually reads something to the team. It could be a current news item, or something that he has been working on for his new book. But most often, it will be a short snippet of wisdom from something Mike has found to be inspirational (A book called 'The Traveller's Gift' makes regular appearances -- Mike insists that our HR people hand out a copy to each new employee). It's always fun, and Mike gets a buzz from it because just 15 years ago, he would not have been capable of reading anything to any audience. If you've seen Episode 3 of Hidden Secrets Of Money you'll already know that Mike is dyslexic, but has managed to pretty much overcome the hurdle thanks to modern technology. He still practices what he is going to read a few times beforehand to become familiar with the piece, but there's no need to. He now reads better than most folks. Folks where I'm from, anyway!

Recently, Mike mentioned to me that he was going to read a section from his favorite book of all time - Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged'. Whoa. This was obviously not going to be a normal company meeting. Having just started to scrape the surface of explaining the dangers of socialism in Episode 5 of Hidden Secrets Of Money, it was obvious that this reading would make for an excellent video. It's also very timely when you consider the current events in Crimea, where Ayn Rand lived as a young girl. Yet another example of history echoing through the ages.

Russia will abandon the US dollar as a reserve currency if the United States initiates sanctions against the Russian Federation, Presidential advisor Sergey Glazyev told Ria Novosti news agency.

"We will be forced to go to another currency and create our own payment and settlement system. We have a fantastic trade and economic relationship with our partners in the east and south, and we'll find a way to not only reset our financial dependence on the US, but come out from these sanctions with an advantage for ourselves," he said.

Nearly Eighty-five years later the phenomenon of banker suicides appears to have returned.

The week of January 20th would be the last for Swiss Re AG communications director Tim Dickenson but wouldn't be the last in a string of deaths and suicides for International bankers.

Just days after Dickenson's death on January 26, police found former Deutsche Bank executive Bill Broeksmit in his South Kensington London home after he'd hung himself.

The next day on January 27, JP Morgan senior manager Gabriel Magee, jumped 500 feet to his death from JP Morgan's central London Headquarters he was a 39-year-old

A few days later on January 29, Cheif Economist for Seattle based Russel investments, Mike Dueker, was reported missing by friends, he was found later at the base of a 50 foot embankment. Police called it a suicide.

On February 4th, in a bizarre manner of death, the coroner ruled Suicide for Richard Talley, 57 who founded American Title Services in Centennial, Colorado. He had a total of eight wounds to his body and head - the method of death - a Nail Gun.

Last week on, February 17th, Dennis Li Junjie jumped to his death, shortly after lunch, from a the roof of the Asian headquarters for JP Morgan - he was only 33.

In the last eight months there have been at least 12 reported deaths of bankers perishing under questionable circumstances.

High stress banking careers are being blamed for the recent suicides. However, the answer may not be that simple.
