We are hearing them saying there will be a ‘tailored’ and ‘surgical’ strike on Syria, as though it is some kind of quick and easy adjustment to a garment, or a simple surgical removal of a wart or pimple with no consequences or repercussions. It is becoming obvious now that the US and other governments are seriously psychopathic, and a terrible threat to humanity, as their words and actions prove to us daily.
There is a beautiful system inbuilt in us, which tells us when we are in danger, and when there is a real threat to our well being. It is one of the many miraculous systems within us which creates a feeling, and that feeling is our answer. This is our ethical barometer and alarm bell which warns us, that our thoughts, words, behavior, choices, actions, or someone else’s, are not right, personally and globally. Whether we are saying hello to someone pleasantly or unpleasantly outside the post office, or planning to bomb another country.
We are born with this gift, it is no accident. Without it we would have destroyed ourselves long ago. It is like a moral and ethical compass which guides us and keeps pulling us back on course if and when we deviate from the path of truth and right action. It guides us in our every interaction with ourselves, other people, all other life forms, and the planet itself.
Our feelings are beautiful things that enable us to feel so many things, like deep love, beauty, joy, happiness, and an appreciation of the things all around us, a green field, a tree, the uplifting smell of grass, a river, the sun on our faces, the wind in our hair, the rain on our heads. Of course it can also let us feel the not so lovely things and is an early warning signal for danger around us, it is quite amazing.
This gift of deep knowing always tells the truth, but one of the biggest problems and threats facing us as humanity at the moment is that this miraculous truth telling gift is becoming more and more choked off, and its voice is getting fainter and fainter, as our ears are becoming more convinced by the lies we see and hear around us. It is as though our ethical and moral alarm bell has been disconnected. Members of Tokyo's Olympic bid committee have been questioned by journalists about contaminated water leaking from the stricken Fukushima nuclear power plant.
The host city for the 2020 games will be chosen on Saturday in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires.
The Japanese committee members held a news conference in the city on Wednesday that was attended by about 100 journalists from more than 20 media outlets.
Bid committee president Tsunekazu Takeda said at the beginning that he hopes to spread the value of sports among young people by hosting an Olympics in Asia, home to more than 1 billion people.
4 out of the 6 questions asked were about the safety of Tokyo, in light of the radioactive water leak at the Fukushima plant.
Takeda responded saying Tokyo is safe in terms of radiation levels.
A British journalist said Tokyo officials only emphasize the city's safety but had still not answered the question. The reporter called it a grave problem that should be taken more seriously.
An American journalist expressed dissatisfaction with the answer and said the question will be asked repeatedly.

The operator of the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says radioactive water that leaked from a storage tank may have reached groundwater.
Tokyo Electric Power Company says it detected high levels of radioactive substances in water collected on Wednesday at a monitoring well about 10 meters from the tank.
It says the water contained 650 becquerels per liter of beta-ray emitting substances, including strontium. The water was taken from about 7 meters deep, where groundwater is flowing.
Last month, TEPCO discovered more than 300 tons of contaminated water had leaked from the tank. Company officials said some of the water may have reached the sea.

The congressional debate to get involved in Syria continued on Capitol Hill on Thursday, and while President Obama is at the G-20 summit in Russia, lawmakers from both sides showed their support for and against the proposed efforts. The motion to implement strikes on the Syrian regime for allegedly using chemical weapons on its own people moved forward on Wednesday when the United States Senate of Foreign Relations Committee authorized involvement in the Middle Eastern country. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday said the issue of contaminated water at the Fukushima nuclear plant will be resolved by 2020, in time for a possible Tokyo Summer Olympic.
Abe is going first to Saint Petersburg, Russia for the G20 and later on to Buenos Aires, Argentina for the IOC session for a final pitch for Tokyo to host the 2020 summer Olympics.
Radiation around the plant's tanks holding contaminated water have spiked more than 20 percent to their highest level, raising questions about the clean-up of the world's worst atomic disaster in 27 years.
The International Olympic Committee will decide the winning bid on September 7.

In the first half, contributing editor at Wired, David Wolman, discussed the history of cash money, the liabilities of it and why people are so attached to physical, paper currency. As an experiment, he tried living without cash for a year to see what problems and realizations would occur. Using cards and other forms for payment, "many weeks would go by actually when I wouldn't notice that I was cashless, then all of a sudden I'd run into a pickle," such as when he tried to convince the babysitter's father to open a Paypal account on the fly. So many people are frightened by the idea of a cashless or digital money future, yet "the reality is, like it or not, we are already in the soup with electronic money. In other words, most money today is already zeros and ones on distant servers," he said.
Rather than ponder whether we'll become a cashless society, the more interesting question is what is money in the first place, and what gives it its value, Wolman remarked. Money is held up by the faith and trust we have in the issuing institution. Yet, many people are hungry for a change, and seeking alternative forms of currency that can get them away from monetary ties to the government. The digital 'Bitcoin,' independent of a central authority has emerged, and local currencies have been tried out in such places as Berkshire, MA and Ithaca, NY. People don't necessarily want to buy "a coffee table from CrateandBarrel.com, made in India, using their VISA card. They want to buy a coffee table from a local furniture maker down the street. So why not use a local currency to do that?" he asked.

In the latter half, medium James Van Praagh spoke about the afterlife, as well as his forthcoming book on the grieving process that he co-authored with Doreen Virtue. Everyone grieves differently, just as their relationship to the deceased person was unique, he pointed out. It's important that people realize that dying is a part of life, a process in which everything is changing, he said, even though the soul never dies and continues on very much alive. The grieving can become aware that they're still connected to a deceased loved one on the soul level, "and if they open up their minds and listen to the little subtle whispers, they might hear their loved one or feel them close to them," he shared. Interestingly, Praagh said the deceased are sometimes in a position to help their living loved ones more from the Other Side than they were in life.
Several months back, he assisted his colleague Debbie Ford with a meditation process to help her come to terms with her passing. After her death, she communicated to him that she felt "part of the oneness of the wholeness." On the Other Side, we become part of everything, and we're all connected, he noted.

The interview Tuesday night at Putin's country residence outside the Russian capital was the only one he granted prior to the summit of G-20 nations in St. Petersburg, which opens Thursday. The summit was supposed to concentrate on the global economy but now looks likely to be dominated by the international crisis over allegations that the Syrian government used chemical weapons in the country's civil war.
Putin said he felt sorry that President Barack Obama cancelled a one-on-one meeting in Moscow that was supposed to have happened before the summit. But he expressed hope the two would have serious discussions about Syria and other issues in St. Petersburg.
"President Obama hasn't been elected by the American people in order to be pleasant to Russia. And your humble servant hasn't been elected by the people of Russia to be pleasant to someone either," he said of their relationship.
The Russian leader, a year into his third term as president, appeared to go out of his way to be conciliatory amid a growing chill in U.S.-Russian relations. The two countries have sparred over Syria, the Edward Snowden affair, Russia's treatment of its opposition and the diminishing scope in Russia for civil society groups that receive funding from the West.
Putin said it was "ludicrous" that the government of President Bashar al-Assad — a staunch ally of Russia — would use chemical weapons at a time when it was holding sway against the rebels.
"From our viewpoint, it seems absolutely absurd that the armed forces, the regular armed forces, which are on the offensive today and in some areas have encircled the so-called rebels and are finishing them off, that in these conditions they would start using forbidden chemical weapons while realizing quite well that it could serve as a pretext for applying sanctions against them, including the use of force," he said.

Ron Paul: Syria Intervention 'Beginning of the End' of 'American Empire' - Neil Cavuto - 9/3/13
9/3/13 - "How many people do we have to kill?" former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) told Fox News Channel host Neil Cavuto on Tuesday. Discussing the plan for a possible intervention in Syria after government forces used chemical weapons on civilians, Paul said that if the president does not get a vote in Congress authorizing Syrian intervention, it would represent "the beginning of the end" of the "American empire."
"I think there is a sea change," Paul said of the debate over Syrian intervention. "The American people are waking up. They are tired of it. They don't have the money."
Paul said that one of the few reasons America is contemplating intervention in Syria is because President Barack Obama drew a "red line" at the use of chemical weapons.
When asked by Cavuto if there would be no intervention had Obama not drawn his "red line," Paul said it was entirely possible. He insisted that Republicans quickly politicized Obama's statement on Syria.
"The McCain-ites and the Lindsey Grahams, they love this stuff," Paul said. "They've been screaming for war for two years."
"Why do we have to always solve these arguments within a country -- civil strife, civil wars -- with our military?" Paul asked. "It's getting old. The people don't like it. We can't afford it. It's going to cost billions of dollars."
Paul advised the Congress not to give Obama authority to attack Syria. He said that the president has repeatedly stated that does not need authorization in order to attack Syria and that authority will only be abused.
"If Obama doesn't get this vote, this is the beginning of the end, and fortunately so, for the American empire," Paul said. "It would be a great victory for the cause of liberty and peace."

It has long been acknowledged that the Saudis have been one of the key players funding, arming, training and smuggling terrorists into Syria during the conflict. A February 2012 report from the BBC alleged that Saudi Arabia was one of the key states bankrolling the Syrian jihadis. An October 2012 follow-up confirmed Saudi weapons were being used by the so-called rebels. In February of this year, the Saudi ambassador to Jordan, Fahad bin Abdul Mohsen al-Zaid, admitted that Saudis were involved in arming and training terrorist groups in Syria. But the Saudi connection to the fighting in Syria took on a new dimension in the wake of last month's chemical attack on Ghouta. The Saudis are now being blamed for supplying the chemical weapons that the rebels used in the attack. In one key report, veteran AP correspondent Dale Gavlak and on-the-ground reporter Yahyah Ababneh interviewed rebels in Ghouta who alleged that the weapons had been supplied by Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Saudi intelligence chief.

One example of the authors' use of economic theory involves demonstrating the existence of cheating among sumo wrestlers. In a sumo tournament, all wrestlers in the top division compete in 15 matches and face demotion if they do not win at least eight of them. The sumo community is very close-knit, and the wrestlers at the top levels tend to know each other well. The authors looked at the final match, and considered the case of a wrestler with seven wins, seven losses, and one fight to go, fighting against an 8-6 wrestler. Statistically, the 7-7 wrestler should have a slightly below even chance, since the 8-6 wrestler is slightly better. However, the 7-7 wrestler actually wins around 80% of the time. Levitt uses this statistic and other data gleaned from sumo wrestling matches, along with the effect that allegations of corruption have on match results, to conclude that those who already have 8 wins collude with those who are 7-7 and let them win, since they have already secured their position for the following tournament. Despite condemnation of the claims by the Japan Sumo Association following the book's publication in 2005, the 2011 Grand Tournament in Tokyo was cancelled for the first time since 1946 because of allegations of match fixing.[3]
The authors attempt to demonstrate the power of data mining, as a number of their results emerge from Levitt's analysis of various databases. The authors posit that various incentives encourage teachers to cheat by assisting their students with multiple-choice high-stakes tests. Such cheating in the Chicago school system is inferred from detailed analysis of students' answers to multiple choice questions. But first Levitt asks, "What would the pattern of answers look like if the teacher cheated?" The simple answer: the more difficult questions found at the end of test sections will be answered correctly more frequently than the easy questions at the beginning of test sections.

The DEA is Paying AT&T for Access to Decades of Phone Records - Report - 9/2/13
9/2/13 - In addition to the new revelations over the National Security Agency listening to the communications of the Brazilian and Mexican presidents, there is now a New York Times report that a program called the Hemisphere Project, run by the Drug Enforcement Administration, involves the U.S. government paying AT&T for access to phone records going all the way back to 1987.
Just how serious is this? The Times report says, somewhat surprisingly, that the "scale and longevity" of this program is "unmatched by other government programs," including the NSA, because that agency only holds phone metadata for five years. The program encompasses not just AT&T customer calls, but "every call that passes through an AT&T switch," and the data is in fact stored by AT&T.
AT&T has not yet made any public comment on the program or its involvement in it, simply stating that they are required to respond to "valid subpoenas issued by law enforcement." The full report is available here, along with this interactive slideshow on the program provided to the Times.
Fox News' Special Report took on the issue today, with Steve Hayes saying it might trouble Americans more than the NSA scandal and Charles Krauthammer asking the question of how much protection is "worth the sacrifices" to Americans' civil liberties.
