The terror threat prompting the U.S. government to close nearly two dozen embassies and consulates Sunday is the most specific, credible threat information in years, CBS News senior correspondent John Miller reports.

Intelligence officers have reporting from a reliable source that a major plot is under way and that the team to carry it out has been selected and is in place, Miller reports.

The threat information has been described as the most specific and credible since the foiled plot to blow up British planes en route to the United States in 2006, Miller reports. The specificity ends there.

What authorities don't have is the date, the timing or the target of the attack, which is why they have taken such an approach to warning potential targets, Miller reports.

The threat has prompted the U.S. to issue a global travel alert to all Americans for the first time since the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

White House officials said President Obama was briefed Saturday morning on the potential terrorist threat before departing for Camp David, CBS News correspondent Jeff Pegues reports.

News correspondent calls worldwide terror alert a "terrible reminder for Americans that we are still major targets"

The State Department has issued a worldwide alert warning Americans overseas that a terrorist "plot is underway."

The U.S. government plans to shut down more than 20 embassies and consulates, the most to be closed since 9/11.

BBC News reports, "The U.S. intercepted al-Qaeda messages" and has "issued a separate global security alert, citing jail breaks linked to al-Qaeda in nine countries."

Martha Raddatz, an ABC News Chief Global Affairs correspondent, calls the alert a "terrible reminder for Americans that we are still major targets."

Correspondents pointed out that the terror alert is "unusually broad and covers travel for Americans across the globe."

Americans have been warned to be cautious when visiting tourist sites and while using public transportation.

In a statement issued by the State Department officials warned, "Terrorists may use a variety of means and weapons and target both official and private interests."

The warning is set to remain in effect until the end of August.

Gen. Martin Dempsey, the Chairman for the Joint Chiefs of Staff told ABC News, "It is an al-Qaeda affiliated threat. It is of the al-Qaeda branch."

Gen. Dempsey says the specific target is unknown, however the "intent is clear to attack Western, not just U.S. interests."
ABC News says the threat is believed to be coming from Yemen and told correspondents it's the same region where "Anwar Al-Awlaki, a radical American cleric, directed terrorists attacks."

This is the same Anwar al-Awlaki that dined at the Pentagon a few months after the 9/11 attack and was later killed by a drone strike in 2011.

In 2012, Infowars reported, "American-born cleric Awlaki's role as a key figure in almost every recent terror plot targeting the United States and Canada, coupled with his visit to the Pentagon, only confirms our long stated position that Awlaki is a chief terrorist patsy-handler for the CIA -- he is the federal government's premier false flag agent," Paul Joseph Watson wrote.

Officials believe the latest plot could involve multiple targets both in and outside of Yemen.

CBS News reports, "Britain will close its embassy in Yemen and has urged all its citizens to leave the country."

ABC News Chief Global Affairs correspondent warns Americans to avoid local events like "demonstrations," and also encourages travelers to enroll in the "Smart Travel Enrollment Program (STEP)."

According to the government's website, STEP is a "free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country."

STEP also allows Americans residing abroad to get routine information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

The program's app sends you emails and texts about possible new security advisories.

8/3/13 - Terrorists May Use Variety of Means and Weapons --- (FoxNews) Top U.S. officials met Saturday to review the Al Qaeda threat that prompted the State Department to issue a worldwide travel alert and close down 22 embassies and consulates for the weekend, a threat that has been described by Rep. Peter King as "very specific." The meeting, that took place on Saturday afternoon, was chaired by National Security Advisor Susan Rice with the Principals Committee to "further review the situation and follow-up actions," according to the White House.
Among those at the meeting Saturday afternoon were the secretaries of state, defense and homeland security and the directors of the FBI and CIA. Rice then joined Lisa Monaco, President Obama's assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, in briefing the president, the White House said in a statement.
"The president has received frequent briefings over the last week on all aspects of the potential threat and our preparedness measures," according to the statement.
The travel alert was the first of its kind since an announcement preceding the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It came as Washington prepared to close its embassies and consulates throughout the Muslim world this Sunday over security concerns.
U.S. officials have not offered many details on the nature of the threat, but apparently are taking it seriously.
On Friday, the threat was described by Rep. Peter King, chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, as "very specific."
"We're not certain exactly where something might happen but it's very specific as to when and it's also very specific as to the fact that it is going to happen, so we have to be on alert everywhere," the New York Republican told WINS-AM.

During a major speech on the economy from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois Wednesday, President Obama aimed some sharp criticism at Washington for "taking its eye off the ball" by succumbing to "an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals." "If you ask some of these Republicans about their economic agenda, or how they'd strengthen the middle class, they'll shift the topic to "out-of-control" government spending," Obama said, "despite the fact that we have cut the deficit by nearly half as a share of the economy since I took office." Or, even worse, they will bring up the "tried and true" boogeyman of Obamacare, "despite the fact that our businesses have created nearly twice as many jobs in this recovery as they had at the same point in the last recovery, when there was no Obamacare." "With an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals," Obama continued, alluding to the uproar from conservatives over the attack in Benghazi, the IRS targeting political groups and the DOJ subpoenaing reporters, "Washington has taken its eye off the ball. And I am here to say this needs to stop." Instead, he said, "Our focus must be on the basic economic issues that the matter most to you -- the people we represent." If you're under age 30, you know what I mean. Adequate jobs for the under 30 crowd are non-existent. The young people I know have had great difficulty getting jobs in their chosen field -- if they get a job at all. Don't believe me? Talk to the under-30 crowd near you and I think you'll find I'm right.

This is due to our government's policy of de-industrialization. America has slowly liquidated our manufacturing capabilities along with our wealth. And now the world's richest 1% control 39% of all the planetary wealth.

In contrast, the bottom 50% of people controls just 1% of the world's money in aggregate. The worldwide financial and political system now delivers and funnels the riches to the very pinnacle of the wealthiest people.

In the long-term, the U.S. dollar is going to lose a tremendous amount of value and inflation is going to absolutely skyrocket. That is one reason why so many people are investing very heavily in gold, silver and other precious metals. All over the globe, the central banks of the world are recklessly printing money. Everyone knows that this is going to end very badly. In fact, there is already a push in more than a dozen U.S. states to allow gold and silver coins to be used as legal tender. Someday you will be glad that you invested in gold and silver now while their prices were still low.

For many people, this is simply not possible. Many Americans are still completely and totally dependent on their jobs. But if you are able, now is a good time to move away from the big cities. When the next major economic downturn strikes, there will be rioting and a dramatic rise in crime in the major cities. If you are able to move to a more rural area you will probably be in much better shape.

The Bible code (Hebrew: צפנים בתנ"ך‎), also known as the Torah code, is a purported set of secret messages encoded within the Hebrew text of the Torah. This hidden code has been described as a method by which specific letters from the text can be selected to reveal an otherwise obscured message. Though Bible codes have been postulated and studied for centuries, the subject has been popularized in modern times by Michael Drosnin's book The Bible Code.

Many examples have been documented in the past. One cited example is that by taking every 50th letter of the Book of Genesis starting with the first taw, the Hebrew word "torah" is spelled out. The same happens in the Book of Exodus. Modern computers have been used to search for similar patterns and more complex variants, and published in a peer-reviewed academic journal in 1994. Proponents hold that it is exceedingly unlikely such sequences could arise by chance, while skeptics and opponents hold that such sequences do often arise by chance, as demonstrated on other Hebrew and English texts

Other types of Bible codes

Another example of an alleged prediction coded in the text of the Bible, which is also attributed to Rabbi Chaim Michael Dov Weissmandl (who was mentioned above),concerns the hanging of 10 Nazi leaders on October 16, 1946 following the Nuremberg Trials. Rabbi Weissmandl claimed that this event was predicted by the Biblical story about the hanging of the 10 sons of Haman, also as a final consequence of a (failed) genocidal plan against the Jews. The "coded" aspect of his speculation is that in the Masoretic text of the Bible, three letters within the list of Haman's sons are marked as small letters: the tav ת of Parshandatha, the shin ש of Parmashtha and the zayin ז of Vajezatha. Rabbi Weissmandl pointed out that if you combine the three small letters together they form the word תשז, which in the accepted Hebrew notation for year numbers (using Gematria) corresponds to the Jewish year 707 Anno Mundi, which is the Jewish year that the 10 Nazi leaders were executed (October 16, 1946 corresponds to Tishrei 21, 5707, the day known as Hoshanna Rabba, the day of severe judgments for the nations of the world, according to the Jewish calendar). Many people criticize various aspects of this speculation. They point out that there are several different traditions about what are the small letters in the names of Haman's sons. Also they point out that the proponents only mention the similarities between the cases, but ignore the many differences. More in general they point out that this is not exactly an a priori prediction, but rather a postdiction, and therefore the statistical significance of it, if there is any at all, cannot be reliably calculated.
 Former reporter for the Wall Street Journal, Michael Drosnin spoke about the Bible Code, and the various prophetic messages that have been gleaned from it. Based on a computer software program developed by the Israeli mathematician, Prof. Eliyahu Rips, the Bible Code finds hidden messages or phrases in equidistant letter sequences in the Hebrew language version of the first five books of the Bible. What convinced Drosnin of its reality was the correct prediction of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, which he discovered about a year before it happened. He recounted how he tried to warn Rabin beforehand, and now meets with various intelligence agencies such as the Mossad.

A year before the 2008 election, Drosnin said he found the phrase "B. Obama is President" in the Bible Code, and also learned that there was danger that could be prevented for Obama. He related this information to Oprah Winfrey, who was said to pass this on to Obama. Drosnin also said that according to the Bible Code, it was Barack Obama's destiny to help prevent a nuclear terrorist attack, and that he will be re-elected in 2012.

After the 9-11 attacks, Drosnin said he found references to it in the Bible Code, with such phrases as "twin towers," "airplane," "terror attack," and "it knocked down," all encoded within a few verses. Currently, he is searching for a "code key," which might help unravel some of the mysteries of the Bible Code, such as who created it. According to the Bible Code, the code key is connected to an obelisk in Jordan, he revealed.

Finding Peace, Happiness and Love in the Global Insanity – By Jason Liosatos

We are currently living within the most insane time in our history as we know it, and it is becoming more and more difficult, and challenging, for people to hold their center, balance and sanity in our system which is so consumed by fear, anxiety, stress, worry, with most people suffering from an underlying, agitated feeling, and a rush to get to the next thing at the expense of peace and happiness in the present moment. Most people are suffering from an unspoken anxiety and worry, which is rarely mentioned through a fear of being labelled a failure or someone who cannot cope, but in truth most of us suffer from similar symptoms of anxiety and fear, stemming mostly from a continual necessity to make money, and even when we make it we know we have to make more, and more …..and more.

It is becoming obvious that if we carry on our current trajectory then we will almost certainly destroy ourselves, and ironically the antidote to that destruction lies within the very problem, which is ourselves., because when we change ourselves we change everything. We all have a yearning, a built in desire, an intrinsic pursuit towards peace, happiness and love, but our current system has a detrimental choking effect on these beautiful attributes within us, and hence we struggle to retain our balance and beauty, as we struggle with a system which is designed for debt, short term greed and fear, and most certainly not designed for freedom.

The peace, happiness and love we yearn for is not something ‘out there’ which we have to find, but it is in us all the time, buried and concealed just beneath our rush, agitation and noisiness. Most of us are so used to living in the future, rushing just ahead of ourselves, that we miss the present moment, and if we are continually missing the present moment by projecting into the future, then we miss our lives because ‘now’ is all we ever have. Anxiety and fear have a paralytic effect on consciousness, peace, happiness and love, and it is up to us, in our current global emergency, to rediscover and align with that great peace, happiness and love within us.

The intense pressures and panic of continually pursuing, and making money to survive tend to dislocate us from ourselves and those loved ones around us, creating an isolation, a sort of secret pain that most people feel within, hiding it from those around us and often hiding it from ourselves. We have become an isolated society, separated from ourselves and others, and I believe we have reached breaking point both personally and globally. We are so disconnected from ourselves, each other, and from peace, happiness and love that we have reached a critical point where there is an emergency that we re establish those essential attributes.

We are witnessing the unfoldment, and the urgent necessity, of an emergency transformation of human beings, a recovery back to what we have lost through our brutal system which has dislocated us, literally tearing most people, secretly, apart. Ironically it is the suppression and struggle of the system that is the very thing which is forcing people to awaken and try to struggle free from it, hence the consciousness revolutions and uprisings globally. The pressure of the system is like a pillow being pressed against humanity’s face, and most people feel that suffocation intensely now as austerity measures are forced on us, and people want to be free.

There is a revolution of consciousness and conscience, with people everywhere feeling the urgency to relocate, remember, realign, and rediscover themselves again, and to reconnect to that beautiful essence, enthusiasm, and love for themselves, those around them, and the wonderful world they live in. Human beings are getting dangerously accustomed to a system of debt and fear which should really horrify them, but it has become the norm.

Anthropologist Hank Wesselman, PHD., is one of those rare, cutting edge scientists who truly walks between the worlds. It was out in the tribal lands in southern Ethiopia, that Hank first began to experience spontaneous altered states of consciousness similar to those of traditional shamans.

Anthropologist and author Hank Wesselman discussed his eight years of visitations, begun in 1996, with the late Hawaiian shaman and kahuna Hale Makua, who was like the Dalai Lama to the Polynesian world. As he chanted the names of his ancestors, "I could see him very subtly transforming...as ancestor after ancestor used the bridge that he was creating to come through his body, and through his mind, into our world," he said of Makua.

Makua gave Wesselman a gift-- a wooden bowl he called the "bowl of light," which represented the Aumakua (our higher self). Every time we step into the negative polarity some of this light gets diminished, Makua said, adding that the problem with the world today is that it's run primarily by "men whose bowls of light are filled by stones." According to Makua, people play out a primary role or archetype in each lifetime: server, artist, warrior, scholar, explorer/sage, priest/healer, or chief.

Makua told Wesselman of an Ancestral Grand Plan, which stressed connection rather separation and included a political foundation based on compassion, and the removal of national and religious barriers, as well as the idea that humans are in the process of becoming gods. Wesselman also reviewed his visions of experiencing life as one of his descendant selves in a tropical forest near the flooded valley of central California. He believes this possibly represents our future after global warming and the rise of sea level have taken hold.

The intelligence does not mention a specific location, which is why all embassies that would normally be open on Sunday have been ordered to close. That includes embassies and consulates in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, where Sunday is the start of the work week.

Martin further reported that officials say this appears to be a real plot in the making and not just the normal chatter among terrorists talking about attacks they'd like to carry out. But these same officials add they are missing key pieces of information.

As of 7:00 a.m. ET Friday, at least 17 embassies have announced that they will close on Sunday in accordance with the State Department's guidance, including the U.S. embassies in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Mauritania, Sudan and Djibouti. A statement on the website of the embassy in Kuwait explained, "The Department of State has instructed certain U.S. Embassies and Consulates to remain closed or to suspend operations on Sunday, August 4...Accordingly, the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait will be closed on Sunday, August 4."

In the meantime, the statement continued, "All U.S. citizen services appointments and visa appointments have been cancelled and have been rescheduled on an individual basis."

Earlier, Marie Harf, the deputy spokeswoman for the State Department, told reporters that the step was taken as a "precautionary" measure. She did not provide further specifics on the nature of the threat or which embassies would be forced to shutter for the day.

"The Department of State has instructed certain U.S. embassies and consulates to remain closed or to suspend operations on Sunday, August 4th," she said, explaining that the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."

She said that is is "possible" some facilities would remain closed for more than a day, depending on the results of a security analysis.

A senior State Department official told CBS News: "For those who asked about which embassies and consulates we have instructed to suspend operations on August 4th, the answer is that we have instructed all U.S. Embassies and Consulates that would have normally been open on Sunday to suspend operations, specifically on August 4th. It is possible we may have additional days of closing as well." The official added: "The Department, when conditions warrant, takes steps like this to balance our continued operations with security and safety."

Harf declined to say from which region of the world the threat had emanated, saying only that "security considerations have led us to take this precautionary step, as we do from time to time."

The security of American embassies and other diplomatic facilities has recently emerged as a political flashpoint in the wake of the September 11, 2012 attack on a U.S. facility in Benghazi, Libya, that claimed the lives of four Americans, including then-ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens.

In the wake of that attack, Republicans accused the State Department of providing insufficient security for diplomatic personnel in Libya.
