Marc Faber as usual did not mince his words, warning of a "recession", and predicting that China is simply not growing fast enough in real terms. Nothing new. He did however branch out into the topic of class divergence in both emerging and developed economies: "in front of far too many luxury hotels there are far too many Ferraris, Maseratis, Bentleys... I see a boom everywhere, except for the working class, except for the lower, middle class. But among the well to do people the wealth that is floating around and the prices you pay for high end properties is incredible, and I think that will come to an end, and a lot of people will lose a lot of money... I was in La Jolla, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, I was in front of a restaurant smoking and I've never seen so many Ferraris, Maseratis, Bentleys and fancy cars anywhere in the world, and this is in America. I am not saying this is wrong, but there is an opulence among a small group of people that is huge when there are lots of people that are struggling. This gives me a bad feeling because I've seen so many emerging economies when they were booming, that was the time to get out." As for the US economy, Faber agrees that the only thing that can help is a massive crisis (or "conflagration" as David Stockman calls it) that jars America out of its hypnotic state. And, sure enough, it will come.

History professor William R. Forstchen discussed the potential damage rendered by an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) event, and what we can to do prepare for the possibility. There are actually two kinds of potentials for generating an EMP, military or solar, he explained. A nuclear fission weapon, such as Iran or North Korea are currently developing, that is detonated about 250 miles above the Earth's atmosphere would trigger electrostatic discharge, striking the Earth's surface and overloading the power grid and knocking it out, he detailed. The Soviets conducted an EMP test in 1962, and a power plant 500 miles away from the center of the detonation burst into flames, because of the EMP overload that fed into the transmission lines, he cited.

Just a few days ago, we were hit by the largest solar storm in five years, and NASA & NOAA have predicted a significantly increased solar storm cycle over the next 18 months, Forstchen noted. A large enough coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun could generate a global-wide EMP event, particularly in the northern and southern latitudes. The "Carrington Event" of 1859 blew out telegraph lines, and the "energy output was so intense that railroad ties were bursting into flames," he said. Forstchen advocates congressional action to protect America's grid, such as put forth by Cong. Roscoe Bartlett.

William R. Forstchen is a Professor of History and Faculty Fellow at Montreat College, in Montreat, North Carolina. He received his doctorate from Purdue University with specializations in Military History, the American Civil War and the History of Technology. His current book, One Second After was cited on the floor of Congress and before the House Armed Services Committee by Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R.-MD), chair of the House Committee tasked to evaluate EMP weapons, as a realistic portrayal of the potential damage rendered by an EMP attack on the continental United States.

Straight out of Russian news, Vladimir Putin has called for the nation's strategic bombers to enter a state of 'full combat readiness' following the 'snap drills' that were initiated after Israel bombed Russian-made missiles within Syria.




Originally being revealed by an anonymous intelligence individuals within the US military and shared with CNN as reported by the Israeli National News, the revelation that Israel was behind the strike on the Russian-made missiles in Syria may be behind the reason for the combat drill — assuming the Russians found out before the general public. Unfortunately, the US mainstream media is too busy covering the minor intricacies of what George Zimmerman ate for breakfast today to discuss the potential brewing of mega conflict.




And when you throw Edward Snowden into this mix of tensions between world powers, it's additional fuel on the fire amid all of this diplomatic turmoil. Although Russia denied that the drills were also aimed at China, independent Moscow-based military analyst Alexander Khramchikhin said that "the land part of the exercise is directed at China, while the sea and island part of it is aimed at Japan."




Vladimir Putin, who personally witnessed the exercises, said he was proud of the outcome and that the drill displayed a "high degree" of combat readiness.




With the US and Russia on the verge of a proxy war in Syria following Israel's bombing of Russian weapons supplies earlier this month, tensions between the two superpowers are once again starting to simmer. America's support for jihadist rebels has angered Russia, which firmly backs the Assad government and has a huge geopolitical stake in preventing its collapse.

Apocalyptic Perspectives ~ Jonathan Zap

Researcher and philosopher Jonathan Zap discussed the surge in apocalyptic predictions and how they relate to the 'Singularity Archetype,' the collective unconscious, and the evolution of humanity. We live in a time when people believe the apocalypse is around the corner, whether coming in 2012 with the end of the Mayan calendar (see his article/podcast Carnival 2012), or as predicted in various other prophecies. Yet, in whatever age people have lived in, they've been predisposed to believe "the end is near." The reason for this, he suggested, is that they have anxiety over their own death. But if everyone is going to die together, this is a more satisfying or comforting notion for the ego to consider than just the death of oneself, he explained.

The Singularity Archetype "is a primordial image of human evolutionary metamorphosis which emerges from the collective unconscious. The Singularity Archetype builds on archetypes of death and rebirth and adds information about the evolutionary potential of both species and individual," Zap writes. He pointed to several images (see below) which show different aspects of the Archetype. The film 2001: A Space Odyssey, for instance, depicts a character's travel through an interdimensional corridor or stargate. "He's basically crossing the event horizon," and experiencing the death of his old form, said Zap, who noted the similarity of this to the way near-death experiences have been described.

In order for humanity to evolve, we need shocks to the system that can be highly disruptive, Zap argued. "The message from the Singularity Archetype is that what looks like the worst thing in the world, may be exactly what is necessary to create a quantum evolutionary jump," he said, adding that this is true on an individual level as well, so that when a dire event happens to a person, it may prove to be a great moment of opportunity.

Jonathan Zap is a photographer, author, teacher, paranormal researcher and philosopher who has written extensively on psychology and contemporary mythology. Jonathan has worked as a staff gemologist and instructor for the Gemological Institute of America. Jim Blascovich and Jeremy Bailenson, two pioneering experts in the field of virtual reality, joined Ian Punnett to reveal when we all might be living in the Matrix. "Virtual reality, for us, is any reality that's not a person's grounded reality," Blascovich said. We go back and forth between virtual and grounded realities all of the time, without the use of technology, through our mind wanderings and dreams, he continued. "There's different types of virtual realities and there's even a lack of separation among them," Bailenson added, citing how the digital environs of the online role-playing game World of Warcraft reportedly seeps into the dream lives of hardcore players.

According to Bailenson, we are at the cusp of a future where virtual reality is commonplace. New 'glasses-free 3D' autostereoscopic displays (as seen in Nintendo's 3DS), suit-less movement tracking (similar to Microsoft's Kinect), and advances in artificial intelligence, will combine to allow people to do things they could not actually do in the physical world, he explained. For instance, a person conducting a digital meeting or teaching a virtual class can program an avatar (graphical representation of a user) to maintain eye contact with every single participant, which focus attention on the speaker, Blascovich noted. Bailenson offered a more insidious example of a person morphing the appearance and sound of an avatar to ingratiate and manipulate different audiences.

The two also commented on how virtual reality may be utilized by the porn industry as well as delved into the concept of digital immortality, where one's avatar continues beyond its user's physical life. Bailenson pointed to a commercial for microwave popcorn that uses a digital recreation of deceased founder Orville Redenbacher, and imagined a day when grandchildren could interact with digital versions of their deceased grandparents. Virtual reality does not allow a person to actually live forever, nor will it ever replace one's consciousness, Blascovich added.

Founder of End Time Ministries, Rev. Irvin Baxter, discussed biblical prophecy, and why he believes many signs are in place that were foretold in the Book of Revelation. Baxter believes that the Antichrist is alive now, and that he will eventually be possessed by Satan. He will then try to realize his ambition-- having everyone on Earth worship him through forcing them to pledge their allegiance to him or they won't be able to buy or sell-- "that's what the Mark of the Beast is all about," he said. Whoever is the Pope during the time of the Antichrist will be known as the "False Prophet," the last Pope, he continued.

During the time of the Antichrist, there'll be a one-world government, one-world religion, and one-world economy-- this "Master Plan of the Dragon" was launched 100 years ago with the start of the Federal Reserve, Baxter stated. The Book of Revelation, often simply known as Revelation or by a number of variants expanding upon its authorship or subject matter, is the final book of the New Testament and occupies a central part in Christian eschatology. Written in Koine Greek, its title is derived from the first word of the text, apokalypsis, meaning "unveiling" or "revelation". China's central bank has urged lenders in the country to strengthen liquidity management, according to an official note published Monday, in a sign Beijing does not intend to loosen policy despite a recent credit crunch..
"Currently, overall liquidity in the domestic banking system is at a reasonable level," said the statement dated June 17 that was issued to banks across the country..
It was the first public comment by the People's Bank of China since interbank borrowing costs spiked to record highs in recent weeks, raising concerns over a potential cash crisis amid an already slowing Chinese economy..
Chinese shares slumped 5.30 percent on Monday in response to the publication of the statement..
Policy makers had refrained from injecting more liquidity -- owing to fears about a growth of bad debt -- which has in turn weighed on the economy..
In the statement, the central bank repeated Premier Li Keqiang's previous calls to "make active use of existing funds" to support the economy..
It asked lenders to "prudently manage liquidity risks that may result from overly fast credit asset expansion"..
"All financial institutions should... maintain credit growth at a stable and moderate level," it added..
It also urged large commercial lenders to "cooperate with the central bank to stabilise the market"..
The rates banks charge to borrow from each other eased on Friday after jumping into double figures on Thursday amid rumours the central bank had pressured lenders to release funds..
Liquidity conditions further alleviated on Monday, with the seven-day repurchase agreement rate -- a benchmark for interbank borrowing costs - falling to 7.58 percent on a weighted-average basis, from 9.25 percent at Friday's close, according to Dow Jones Newswires..
"The worries - over liquidity - have now escalated to worries over a potential Chinese financial crisis," Shen Jun, a Shanghai-based analyst with BOC International, told AFP..
But he stressed that the central bank statement indicates authorities will likely stay on the sidelines and let banks deal with the issue on their own..

NAACP Leads Push for Federal Civil Rights Charges Against Zimmerman After Race Kept Out of Trial

As protests against the acquittal of George Zimmerman continue in Los Angeles, Oakland and other cities, the NAACP is calling on the U.S. Department of Justice to file civil rights charges against Zimmerman for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. On Monday, Attorney General Eric Holder described the killing of Martin as "tragic" and "unnecessary," but he did not indicate whether he intended to bring a federal case. "The reality is that it's not clear that Trayvon Martin had any peers on that jury," says NAACP President Benjamin Jealous. "And it does appear that there may have been a racial dynamic, and that some of the racial dynamics in the community -- which is a very racially divided community historically -- have come into play." Jealous also criticized the judge for inhibited discussion about racial profiling. "We went through this kind of surreal trial where the judge blocked all discussion of racism of racial profiling," Jealous says. Nearly one million people have signed an online NAACP petition asking for the DOJ to pursue a case.
