ORWELLIAN NIGHTMARE -- Your Samsung TV Is Watching You

 
Samsung has come under fire from privacy campaigners after it emerged the company’s new smart TVs are capable of listening to your conversations.

Viewers hoping to take advantage of the voice activation feature have been warned by Samsung not to disclose personal information because voice recordings can be captured and transmitted to unidentified third parties.

Privacy campaigners have compared the TV sets to ‘telescreens’ – televisions which also act as surveillance cameras in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984. Electronic Frontier Foundation activist Park Higgins compared Samsung’s privacy policy to the famous book in a tweet on Sunday. It has already received 14,000 retweets.

Samsung insists it takes consumer privacy seriously, but did not name the third party which translates speech to text.

Rockefeller (at about 1:50:00) question the Verizon executive who made sure to mention his FBI experience several times. Ignoring the interesting fact Verizon has a vp with "FBI experience" interfacing with the NSA, FBI, DOJ, etc.. on behalf of Verizon, Sen Rockefeller's questions are extremely revealing. Rockefeller actually had the gaul to say how he just gave himself subpoena power and blatantly stated he didn't go through channels while remarking how frustrating it was before that and what a "glorious day" it was after giving himself judiciary power. Oh, and he also made sure to remind everyone he was very involved in setting up the FISC "court" (secret crony tribunal.) How can any American watch that and not be incensed at such a mockery of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. With about a million contractors and government employees from all those agencies, it really makes you wonder just how bad it really is.

Stating that fact has led me to be outcast by some of the very people who are suffering under this Orwellian nightmare, more damning evidence of the UK's tragic descent into fascism.....Fascism was once defined by Mussolini - founder of the first self-proclaimed Fascist Government - himself as the fusion of big corporations and the state. Crony capitalism (the powerful capitalists exerting influence over policy) is merely a natural progression from capitalism (the transference of wealth into the hands of a few elites)....  this is nothing like a free market, this is a highly regulated fascist, protectionist, market. The clue is in the title, if it was a free market you wouldn't be paying tax on everything.

The term free market is often used in politics today but don't be fooled into thinking they're telling you what it is, they're just trying to please those who do support free market economics. A bit like when politicians claim to be "libertarian" when it's clear they have no understanding of the philosophical concepts of libertarianism, it's just buzz word to gain votes.

As these MRAP's return from overseas/Afghanistan, and although it is apparently unknown exactly how many are being delivered, or have been delivered to DHS, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself...

And civil liberties activists are sounding new alarms about a militarized police force in a civilian population.

From Florida and Albany, N.Y., to the heartland ofOhio State University and the California coast, local police forces are acquiring weaponry for American streets that was meant for Afghanistan minefields.

Fort Pierce, Fla., a town of just over 40,000 on Florida's Atlantic coast, ranks 56 for gun violence in the United States. But its often beleaguered police force is getting some high-powered help from the United States military in the form of a new armored vehicle known as an MRAP, for Mine Response Ambush Protection.

The Super Bowl's annual role as a poster child for the police state will continue uninterrupted this year with low flying helicopters, airport-style security and checkpoints throughout New York and New Jersey.

"The U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration will use a twin-engine Bell 412 helicopter equipped with radiation sensing technology, flying in a grid covering about 10 square miles at altitudes of 150 feet or higher at about 80 miles per hour, according to the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management," reports the Jersey Journal.

As we reported last week, the Department of Homeland Security announced that it would be flying a similar helicopter at low altitudes over Baltimore for years to come in order to prepare for a potential nuclear attack.

Other Super Bowl security measures include increased random bag searches and other checkpoints that will be commonplace throughout New York and New Jersey transit hubs

Dipaola's company, inMarket, will today begin turning on a network of sensors in dozens of grocery stores in Cleveland, Seattle, and San Francisco that will allow companies to beam advertisements to people's smartphones at the exact moment they're standing in aisle six trying to decide which brand of beans to buy.



This scenario has been the dream of retailers and advertisers for years, but it's become more plausible in recent months because of an update to Apple's (AAPL) mobile technology. Many observers see the feature, called iBeacon, as the most important part of iOS7, even though more attention was paid to the radical design changes. The technology allows Apple to pinpoint the location of a smartphone user within a few feet by bouncing signals off of inexpensive sensors constantly on the lookout. Because the technology uses Bluetooth Low Energy to send and receive signals, it can do so in confined spaces like stores without draining phone batteries.

With iOS 7, Apple unveiled iBeacon, a feature that uses Bluetooth 4.0, a location based technology. This makes it possible for sensors to detect — within inches — how close a phone is. This is opening the door for groundbreaking services that could enhance the average person's life.

"This might be the next big technology,"said Radius Networks chief executive Marc Wallace. "I think there's a huge opportunity for developers to run with this and develop cool applications." In one early implementation, Radius Networks teamed with the Consumer Electronics Association to launch an iBeacon-powered scavenger hunt at CES this week.
"From an opportunity perspective, I'd say everything is in place, and this thing is poised to be huge. The real question is over the next year there's going to be a lot of experimentation, learning, etc.," said Rob Murphy, vice president of marketing at Swirl, which is working with retailers to capitalize on the potential of iBeacons. "There will be a bunch more success stories. I think there will be some failures along the way."

Although it was only recently introduced as part of the iOS 7 mobile operating system upgrade, Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iBeacon micro-location technology is being increasingly used by various retailers and other businesses. Apple's iBeacon technology uses the Bluetooth Low Energy communications standard to send notifications to mobile devices based on their proximity to a transmitter. The system is ideal for indoor tracking and can pinpoint a user's location far more accurately than GPS can.

Last month, Apple revealed that it has started using its iBeacon micro-location technology at all of its 254 U.S. stores. Macy's (NYSE:M) has also installed "ShopBeacons" that use Apple's iBeacon technology in several of its retail locations, while Major League Baseball is exploring the use of an iBeacon-based navigation system for its stadiums.

All this TSA harrassment at the airports is only for the ordinary people, us peasants. The elite have their private jets, the business leaders have their corporate jets, those with money but not wealthy enough to afford their own jet can buy membership in Net Jets. When you get on a private jet, even at the same large airport, you don't go through any security whatsoever. You just board the plane with whatever you want to bring on, including your pets (private jets do not have to abide by the FAA rules for animals). My ex-sister-in-law has a Net Jets membership (I'm so jealous! lol!) and I heard from my other sister-in-law who flew with her how it works. She said it's so hassle-free. So all this TSA screening stuff is just for us peasants.
