Danish Politician calls for Muslim entry ban

In an opinion piece for a Danish newspaper, Soeren Espersen has written that Western countries should stop being naive. The deputy leader of the Danish People’s Party also says Muslim asylum seekers should be barred from entire Europe as the continent needs QUOTE a respite after the recent terrorist attacks. Espersen’s comments have drawn criticism from Denmark’s opposition parties. An MP from the Social Democrats Party has likened his remarks to the rhetoric of US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. The lawmaker also said the position amounts to religious discrimination and apartheid. Denmark’s Radical Party has also condemned Espersen’s anti-Muslim stance, saying it threatens to destroy Denmark as a free, open and tolerant society.
