revelation 12 is a representation of the past. the beast in that chapter is imperial rome, back when king Herod tried to kill young Jesus. the mother is (the church) when Jesus was crucified and then resurrected to be with the father, the dragon (satan) was furious that it could not get to the Son so it took its wrath on the mother (the first church) apostles..and who ever believed in Christs teachings and that he was the Son of god.
