Brexit triggers fears of domino effect in EU Members

 France's foreign minister urges Britain to appoint a new prime minister quickly so that the process of the country's exit from the European Union can begin.
Ayrault went on to say that it's not "respectful for Britain" to postpone the process. He warned any delays will entail financial consequences for the whole Europe. Ayrault's comments echoed those of German Chancellor Angela Merkel who said the UK's formal exit from the EU should not take forever. Foreign ministers of founding EU members have also called for the Brexit to start as soon as possible. The ministers from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and Luxemburg made the announcement after an emergency meeting in Berlin. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told reporters that Britain is not setting an example for Europe by voting to leave the EU.

Steinmeier stressed it's important to keep Europe together after the Brexit vote. The decision has already triggered fears of a domino effect in member states. Slovakia's far right People's Party has launched a petition for a referendum on its EU membership. Brexit is taking its toll on the UK as well. After the British prime minister’s decision to resign, the country’s EU commissioner and finance chief Jonathan Hill announced he would step down too. Hill says he has no place in the EU now that his country has decided to leave the bloc. EU Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker says he's ready to consider appointing a new British commissioner.
