US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says London's newly-elected Muslim mayor could be an exception to his proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States. Trump said he was happy about Sadiq Khan’s win, adding there'll always be exceptions to his proposal. Trump proposed a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US following the terrorist attacks in Paris and California last year. Meanwhile, Sadiq Khan has said that he wants to meet with US mayors, but that he'd have to visit the country before January in case Trump wins the November 8 election. The UK Labour Party candidate has become the first Muslim mayor of a major European capital. His victory has sparked islamophobic protests in Britain, especially among far-right extremist politicians.
