ALERT -- Justice Department Spying on Cell Phones nationwide

Justice Department targets cell phones nationwide

The Wall Street Journal says the data is scooped up through devices deployed on airplanes which mimic signals from cell phone towers. They trick mobile phones into revealing unique identifying numbers and general locations. According to the report, the range of aircraft in the program covers most of the U-S. The Justice Department has so far declined to comment on the story. But it has said its agencies comply with the law when it comes to surveillance. The U-S has been widely criticized for its mass spying programs at home and abroad.
