Ebola Crisis -- Australian govt. suspends processing visas for people from West Africa
Australia says it has temporarily stopped processing visas for people from Ebola-affected West Africa. The Immigration Ministry has said in a statement to the Parliament that the new rules would apply to Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, with an aim to prevent the spread of the virus to the country. It says the government has suspended its immigration program from Ebola-affected countries. Visas already granted to people from the three countries, who haven't yet departed for Australia, would also be cancelled. Besides, permanent visa holders from West Africa will have to spend 21 days in quarantine before entering Australia. An 18-year-old suspect case, who recently arrived from Guinea, tested negative after showing symptoms.
