ALERT -- Protests erupt in St. Louis after white cop kills black teen

An off-duty police officer fatally shot an 18-year-old man who opened fire during a chase in south St. Louis, police said Thursday. St. Louis Police Chief Col. Sam Dotson said the 32-year-old officer was patrolling the Shaw neighborhood for a private security company late Wednesday when the shooting happened.

A St. Louis city policeman shot and killed a suspect who fired on him on Wednesday, police said, as protests persist over the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black teenager in August. The officer attempted to stop the fleeing suspect, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said on Twitter.
