High-energy objects from outside the aircraft" likely caused the midair breakup of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over eastern Ukraine on July 17, Dutch investigators said in a preliminary report released Tuesday.
The crash of the Boeing 777, which was traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, killed all 298 passengers and crew aboard. A full report is expected within a year of the crash.
The report said "no indications of any technical or operational issues were found with the aircraft or crew." The board is leading the international investigation into the cause of the disaster.
