Thousands of Lisbon commuters had to queue up in the rain waiting for buses, after subway workers staged a mass walkout during the morning rush hour. The action was in protest against recently approved salary cuts for Portugal's civil servants. Journalist and economist, Pedro Santos, believes austerity measures imposed on the country are destroying its economy.
