Anti-GMO protesters rally against Monsanto

Protesters in 52 countries around the world have marched against biotech giant Monsanto and genetically modified foods. Rallies have been held in cities across Latin America, calling for a boycott of GM products.

In Mexico City, hundreds of protesters marched through the main streets and converged on the Angel of Independence monument. Also in Chile's capital Santiago, demonstrators rallied, carrying banners against the American agricultural company Monsanto. Genetically modified foods are plants or animals that have had genes copied from other plants or animals inserted into their DNA. The procedure is very common, and it's done to make them resistant to pests and herbicides. But mainstream science has NOT been able to prove that GMOs are totally safe.
