protect his people from genetically modified foods.
Putin believes that he can keep GMOs out of his country, even while staying in compliance with the World Trade Organization's (WTO) commandments. In a meeting addressing the members of the Board of the Russian Federation Council he stated: "We need to properly construct our work so that it is not contrary to our obligations under the WTO. But even with this in mind, we nevertheless have legitimate methods and instruments to protect our own market, and above all citizens."

When an interviewer recently confronted Vladimir Putin about Europe's American-made missile defense system, the President of the Russian Federation couldn't help but laugh right in his face.

According to the journalist, NATO's missile defense system is pointed at and designed to protect Europe from the nuclear threat posed by Iran, not Russia. Interview: NATO claims the missile shield was not built against you but against Iran. Putin: You really make me laugh. God bless you because it's almost time to finish the day... indeed it's already time to go to sleep. At least I get home in good humor.

It seems that he actually believed the notion that NATO built its missile defense shield to protect from Iran, a country which, according to U.S. intelligence reports, has yet to develop not only the nuclear technology, but the inter-continental ballistic missile systems capable of delivering such technology all the way from Iran.

The propaganda on both sides is actually pretty funny considering how ridiculous the back and forth posturing has gotten, especially in recent months.

What won't be funny is when Europe, Russia, China and the United States eventually use it to facilitate entry into a global conflict involving billions of people. EU Commission boss Jose Manuel Barroso said today his fellow globalist apparatchiks believe now is the time to impose sanctions on the government of Ukraine.

"We... expect that targeted measures against those responsible for violence and use of excessive force can be agreed by our member states as a matter of urgency, as proposed by the high representative/vice president (top EU diplomat Catherine Ashton)," Barroso said in a statement. According to vice president Joe Biden Yanukovych's government bears "special responsibility to de-escalate the situation" and called on Ukraine's government to address the "legitimate grievances" of gun-and-brick wielding protesters.

Germany has yet to mention sanctions, but said "Yanukovych clearly bears responsibility for the escalation of violence." German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier characterized the violence as "appalling."

On Sunday Obama's deputy national security advisor, Tony Blinken, said Russia is amassing troops on the border ahead of a move to invade Ukraine.

Blinken made his remarks as Obama prepares to travel to Europe and talk with the Group of Eight about further sanctions on Russia after the people of Crimea voted to secede from Ukraine. Congress, the Obama administration, and the establishment media in the U.S. characterize the vote as outright annexation by Russia.

Blinken said the White House has not ruled out sending military aid to Ukraine.

Ukraine's parliament on Tuesday approved a series of joint military exercises with NATO countries that would put US troops in direct proximity to Russian forces in the annexed Crimea peninsula.

The decision came as NATO foreign ministers gathered in Brussels for a two-day meeting dominated by concern over the recent buildup of Russian forces near Crimea that US officials estimate had at one point reached about 40,000 troops.

NATO has sought to reinforce its eastern frontier after Russia's takeover of Ukraine's Black Sea peninsula and amid concerns about the Kremlin's emboldened foreign policy.
