The U.S. could pay it back with worthless fiat Federal Reserve Notes. They could give them a quadrillion fiat dollars. Wouldn't be worth anything, but it would show as a transaction on the books. So these clowns could default and then hyperinflate even after that. I'm not sure how this is going to play out. I just know that it will play out and it will kill the dollar either way.
