Separation of church and state only LIMITS the state from making law, official religion or dictating which sect would be favored.
It prohibits the state from infringing on the peoples right to exercise those rights.
NOTHING in the constitution says anything about separation of church and state anyway.. That little meme came form a PRIVATE letter written by Jefferson to a church group !
