ReplyDeleteQF-4 is a target drone created out of an retired F-4 Phantom. QF-4s are designed to be a reusable air to air target used to train USAF pilots for firing air to air missiles against full size targets. QF-4s are not recon drones, they have zero recon capabilities, just a remote controlled vehicle that is used in roles that use to be done by pilots that were placed in extreme danger by these training missions. Mechanical problems on nearly 50 year old aircraft is going to happen as is accidently being shot down.
