Rush Limbaugh : Obama Has Spent More Time With Tiger Woods Than With The Republican Leadership
President Obama has some game, Tiger says | Woods: Obama hit the ball well
Tiger Woods got an offer he couldn't refuse last week: Playing golf with President Obama.
"Playing with Mr. President was pretty cool," Woods said Tuesday at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship at Dove Mountain, an event he's won three times. "He's just a wonderful person to be around. ... He's quick."
As part of a weekend getaway in Florida with golf at the centerpiece of the mini-vacation, the president arranged for a friendly round of golf Sunday at The Floridian in Palm City, where he met — and then teamed up with — Woods in an 18-hole match Sunday against U.S. trade representative Ron Kirk and Floridian owner Jim Crane. Obama and Woods had met before — he spoke at Obama's inauguration in 2009 — but had never played golf together before.
Obama and Woods jumped out to a quick lead when Woods nearly drove the green of the par-4, 378-yard first hole and then chipped in for birdie.
"He hit a few," Woods said when asked how many good shots Obama hit. "He's a pretty good athlete, and we all know he played a lot of hoops. He's a lefty, he hit it well, and we didn't play under the easiest conditions. It was blowing harder than (windy conditions at Dove Mountain) this and it was a little bit cooler than this. So we played under some tough conditions, and as I said, he hit the ball well.
"He's got amazing touch. He can certainly chip and putt. If he ever spent — after these four years — spent more time playing the game of golf, I'm sure he could get to where he's a pretty good stick."
