U.S. fugitive Edward Snowden addressed hundreds of high school students at a world affairs conference held Monday night at a Toronto private school.
The former NSA contractor was the keynote speaker at the annual World Affairs Conference, which was organized by students from Upper Canada College and Branksome Hall in Toronto.
The moderated discussion, dubbed “Privacy vs. Security: A Discussion of Personal Privacy in the Digital Age,” saw Snowden answer questions via video teleconference from Russia, where he now lives in asylum. He was joined by journalist Glenn Greenwald via video link.

and President of Washington Grove Institute, a think tank in Washington
D.C, Webster Tarpley, discussed the conspiratorial mindset, and shared
his intriguing analysis of current geopolitical and historical
situations. More and more people are turning toward conspiracies because
the "official story" behind such events as 9-11 and the JFK
assassination are unbelievable or fantastic, he said. Tarpley doesn't
consider himself a conspiracy theorist, but a seeker of truth, though he
admitted that the uncovering of facts in many instances often does
point to conspiracies. We live in an oligarchy run by financiers, and
they often do conspire together for shared goals, he noted, adding that
they compose a shadow government that secretly rules the US,
intersecting with people at the State Dept., the CIA, and perhaps the
Treasury and the Federal Reserve.
Tarpley spoke about his
forthcoming book about Pearl Harbor and the assassination of FDR. We're
told a lot of fakery about Roosevelt like he provoked Japan, and that he
kept his Naval Admirals in the dark, but the opposite was true, he
said. Further, a group of Wall St. Republicans that FDR put in control
of the Pentagon wanted a defeat to weaken FDR in the postwar world, and
Churchill knew the time and place of the Pearl Harbor attack but kept
quiet in order to draw the US into the war, he continued. Roosevelt was
poisoned by a female Russian painter in April 1945, Tarpley claimed, and
Stalin reportedly told FDR's son "your father was poisoned/murdered by
the Churchill gang."
Tarpley also commented on current situations
in France, China, and Russia, as well as Syria and Libya, two countries
that he visited during recent turmoils. America can get out of its
economic woes by seizing control of the Federal Reserve, and stop using
it to give 0% loans to bankers and financial interests, and instead give
these loans with a hundred year maturity to the states, who could then
start massive infrastructure rebuilding projects, he argued.
Webster Griffin Tarpley is a philosopher of history who seeks to provide the programs and strategies needed to overcome the current world crisis. As an activist historian he first became widely known for his book George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography (1992), a masterpiece of research which is still a must read.

In the first half, investment banker and risk manager James Rickards discussed why he believes the coming collapse of the dollar and the international monetary system is entirely foreseeable, and what we can do to protect ourselves. The International Monetary System has actually collapsed three times in the last century-- 1914, 1939, and in 1971 when Pres. Nixon took the dollar off the gold standard, he pointed out. When this happens, it means that the major financial players in the world get together to rewrite "the rules of the game," he said. The incidents of collapse were all tied to wars-- WWI, WWII, and Vietnam, he added.
The next collapse will likely result in a high inflationary period and the people most hurt will be those on a fixed income, whose dollars will be worth less. There are also winners during inflation, such as those with fixed assets, like owning a factory, gold, or other currencies, he continued. The dollar will still be used in the US as local currency, but it will no longer be the leading global reserve currency-- that could be SDRs, a reserve asset of the International Money Fund (IMF), he explained. Rickards recommended that people devote around 10% of their assets to gold such as the American Gold Eagle, which would increase in value during an inflationary period.

In the latter half, Zac Bissonnette, a personal finance writer, talked about the various ways people from all professions lie to the public in sometimes outrageous, unbelievably arrogant, and hilarious ways. It's become way too easy to become a trusted authority in America-- so many of the people anointed by the mainstream media, business world, and the political class turn out to be frauds or hypocrites, he declared. For instance, former NY governor Eliot Spitzer talked about "making New York as ethical as the people that live there," he cited.
Bissonnette has found the field of self-help in particular to yield many cases of "Do as I say, not as I do." An extreme example was the motivational speaker Ernest Garlington who advocated for people finding deeper spiritual connections, and then was convicted of ordering a hit job on his wife's former husband. There was also former US Sec. of Education Bill Bennett, who published books on virtues and morality, but in 2003, it was revealed he'd lost more than $8 million gambling in Las Vegas. Beyond the hubris that seems to be a common denominator amongst such cases, there may be an element of projection going on, in which people have a dishonorable impulse inside of them, and then seek to warn others about the same human foible they are more prone to than anyone else, he suggested.

The foreign ministers of Russia, India and China have held their 13th Meeting in Beijing. They’ve briefed the press and issued a joint communique. They emphasized that cooperation is conducive to maintaining international and regional peace and stability and promoting global economic growth and prosperity.
Russia and India added their voices on Monday to China's call for a new
world order and endorsed Beijing's plans to mark the 70th anniversary of
the end of the second world war.
The foreign ministers of the
three nations met in the capital for talks just a week after US
President Barack Obama made a high-profile trip to India.
After
Monday's meeting, President Xi Jinping gave a positive assessment of
China's ties with the two nations, despite New Delhi's apparent distrust
towards Beijing.
In a joint communique, the three nations vowed
to "build a more just, fair and stable international political and
economic order" and a "multi-polar" world.
Russian Foreign
Minister Sergey Lavrov said all states should be involved in creating "a
modern security architecture" in the Asia-Pacific; his Chinese
counterpart, Wang Yi , said the region should not be caught up in a
zero-sum game.
"We advocate the principle of partnership rather than alliance," Wang said.
The
three nations also gave their support to efforts to put second world
war commemorations on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly.
"We
will be celebrating the 70th anniversary of the UN and the world's
victory against fascism. This provides a great opportunity for countries
in the world to cherish history and look forward to the future," Wang
said.
Lavrov and Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj
backed the call, with Lavrov saying the world needed to be on alert for
fascism. "We must remember the tragic lesson of the events of those
years," he said.
China has sought to spearhead efforts for the
anniversary, a move that some observers have described as an attempt to
exert pressure on Japan. A military parade will be held in Beijing in
September, to which Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to be
invited.
The hosting of the two foreign ministers is seen as an
attempt by Beijing to present a united international front as a
counterbalance to Washington, after Obama's visit to India.
During
Obama's trip, India and the US said freedom of navigation should be
protected across the South China Sea, over which Beijing claims
sovereignty.
But Xi was positive on Sino-Indian ties as he meet Swaraj yesterday, saying the relationship had "entered a new stage".

ungrateful. j. The Holy Spirit will be poured out on all flesh. k. The Gospel of Jesus Christ will taught to the whole world and then the end arrives. l. God will open up end time prediction for all to know and also translate so as to plan for His next coming.

Islamist militants have opened a special market in Mosul for the sale of goods confiscated from the houses and churches of Christians. The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS) has dubbed the open-air market the “Spoils of Nasara” (Spoils of Christians).

"There's so many things you can do today with computers and technology, and what's happening in the medical field," where you can actually go for a few months of education, or learn skills online, and really develop multiple income streams this way, Paris commented. He also suggested that if people are struggling financially, they consider moving to more affordable areas or states, or places where unemployment is low.

Webster Tarpley Historian
and President of Washington Grove Institute, a think tank in Washington
D.C, Webster Tarpley, discussed the conspiratorial mindset, and shared
his intriguing analysis of current geopolitical and historical
situations. More and more people are turning toward conspiracies because
the "official story" behind such events as 9-11 and the JFK
assassination are unbelievable or fantastic, he said. Tarpley doesn't
consider himself a conspiracy theorist, but a seeker of truth, though he
admitted that the uncovering of facts in many instances often does
point to conspiracies. We live in an oligarchy run by financiers, and
they often do conspire together for shared goals, he noted, adding that
they compose a shadow government that secretly rules the US,
intersecting with people at the State Dept., the CIA, and perhaps the
Treasury and the Federal Reserve.
Tarpley spoke about his
forthcoming book about Pearl Harbor and the assassination of FDR. We're
told a lot of fakery about Roosevelt like he provoked Japan, and that he
kept his Naval Admirals in the dark, but the opposite was true, he
said. Further, a group of Wall St. Republicans that FDR put in control
of the Pentagon wanted a defeat to weaken FDR in the postwar world, and
Churchill knew the time and place of the Pearl Harbor attack but kept
quiet in order to draw the US into the war, he continued. Roosevelt was
poisoned by a female Russian painter in April 1945, Tarpley claimed, and
Stalin reportedly told FDR's son "your father was poisoned/murdered by
the Churchill gang."
Tarpley also commented on current situations
in France, China, and Russia, as well as Syria and Libya, two countries
that he visited during recent turmoils. America can get out of its
economic woes by seizing control of the Federal Reserve, and stop using
it to give 0% loans to bankers and financial interests, and instead give
these loans with a hundred year maturity to the states, who could then
start massive infrastructure rebuilding projects, he argued.
Webster Griffin Tarpley is a philosopher of history who seeks to provide the programs and strategies needed to overcome the current world crisis. As an activist historian he first became widely known for his book George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography (1992), a masterpiece of research which is still a must read.

When
I first came to Japan in 1980 I was amazed to see fish swimming in the
rivers in downtown Tokyo. Japan of the 1980’s was by many standards the
most advanced nation on earth. By 1985, after decades of sizzling
economic growth, they had the highest per capita income on earth, the
lowest gap between the rich and poor in any developed nation and a very
healthy natural environment. They also were the greatest creditor nation
on earth, having supplied cars, electronics and other goodies to the
rest of the planet often in exchange for IOUs. One of the reasons I
chose to go to university in Japan was to study the system that had made
this miracle possible. This is how it worked. Japan’s government was
run by a combination of highly talented bureaucrats, industrialists and
politicians with deep roots in their local constituencies. They presided
over a system that was a combination of central planning, free market
capitalism and socialism. At the apex of the system was an
organization known as the Economic Planning Agency. It was run by a
group of about 30 members of the bureaucratic, industrial, academic and
political ruling elite. They would come up with a 5 year plan for the
country. Politicians would explain in detail what their voters desired.
Bureaucrats would explain exactly how much money there was available to
realistically meet their desires. Industrialists would explain what
could be profitably done to contribute to the plan. The country as a
whole also had a mission: to overtake and surpass the West. The
system was not like the central planning of Stalinist economies, where
even such thing as the amount of toothpaste was centrally planned,
because it was based on market forces. The plan might, for example,
call for doubling the amount of roads, sewers and port facilities over a
5 year period, and would allocate the money for this. However, it was
private companies who bid for the actual work. Furthermore, companies
were free to carry out their own independent activities regardless of
the bigger plan. The only countries that had systems arguably as good
as the old Japanese system were the Scandinavian countries, Germany and
Canada.

The Failed 'Yemen Model' by Ron Paul
Last September President
Obama cited his drone program in Yemen as a successful model of US
anti-terrorism strategy. He said that he would employ the Yemen model in
his effort to “degrade and ultimately destroy” ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
But
just a week ago, the government in Yemen fell to a Shite militia
movement thought to be friendly to Iran. The US embassy in Yemen’s
capitol was forced to evacuate personnel and shut down operations.
If Yemen is any kind of model, it is a model of how badly US interventionism has failed.
In
2011 the US turned against Yemen’s long-time dictator, Saleh, and
supported a coup that resulted in another, even more US-friendly leader
taking over in a “color revolution.” The new leader, Hadi, took over in
2012 and soon became a strong supporter of the US drone program in his
country against al-Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula.
But last week
Hadi was forced to flee from office in the coup. The media reports that
the US has lost some of its intelligence capability in Yemen, which is
making it more difficult to continue the drone strikes. Nevertheless,
the White House said last week that its drone program would continue as
before, despite the disintegration of the Yemeni government.
And
the drone strikes have continued. Last Monday, in the first US strike
after the coup, a 12 year old boy was killed in what is sickeningly
called “collateral damage.” Two alleged “al-Qaeda militants” were also
killed. On Saturday yet another drone strike killed three more suspected
militants.
The US government has killed at least dozens of
civilian non-combatants in Yemen, but even those it counts as
“militants” may actually be civilians. That is because the Obama
administration counts any military-aged male in the area around a drone
attack as a combatant.
It was al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
that claimed responsibility for the brutal shooting at an anti-religious
magazine in Paris last month. At least one of the accused shooters
cited his anger over US policy in the Middle East as a motivation for
him to attack.
Does anyone wonder why, after 14 years of drone
strikes killing more than 800 al-Qaeda militants, it seems there are
still so many of them? As a Slate Magazine article this week asked,
“what if the drones themselves are part of the problem?” That is an
excellent question and one that goes to the heart of US anti-terrorist
strategy. What if it is US interventionism in general and drone strikes
in particular that are motivating so many people to join anti-US
militant movements? What if it is interventionist and militarist western
foreign policy that is motivating people to shoot up magazines and seek
to bring terrorism back to the countries they see as aggressors?
That
is the question that the interventionists fear most. If blowback is
real, if they do not hate us because we are so rich and free but because
of what our governments are doing to them, then US interventionism is
making us less safe and less free.
The disintegration of Yemen
is directly related to US drone policy. The disintegration of Libya is
directly related to US military intervention. The chaos and killing in
Syria is directly related to US support for regime change. Is there not a
pattern here?
The lesson from Yemen is not to stay the course
that has failed so miserably. It is to end a failed foreign policy that
is killing civilians, creating radicals, and making us less safe.

"What I recommend is that people prepare for whatever potentially could happen in their region," such as hurricanes in Florida, blizzards in the Northeast, and tornadoes in the Midwest, he commented, adding that people should get to know their neighbors and consider pooling resources together. He shared his own survival story (along with callers during the second hour) about being in Galveston during Hurricane Issac, and how the town was eerily abandoned. This suspicion led to the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis. What is perhaps
not so infamous about this particularly tense situation is that the
world was nearly blown to smithereens. It was only due to decisions

The end of the world has come a lot closer in the past three years,
with every single person now in danger as climate change and nuclear
weapons pose an escalating threat – according to the scientists behind
the Doomsday Clock, a symbolic measure which counts down to armageddon.
They
moved the minute-hand of their 68-year old concept clock forward by two
minutes today, showing a time of three minutes to twelve, to reflect
the fact that the “probability of global catastrophe is very high”.
The time change symbolised their damning assessment of world leaders and the outlook for their citizens.
“Today,
unchecked climate change and a nuclear arms race resulting from
modernisation of huge arsenals pose extraordinary and undeniable threats
to the continued existence of humanity,” said Kennette Benedict,
executive director of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in Chicago,
the group of scientists which set the clock.
“And world leaders
have failed to act with the speed or on the scale required to protect
citizens from potential catastrophe. These failures potentially endanger
every person on Earth,” she added.
Although the clock is
essentially a barometer, it is set by a team that includes 17 Nobel
Prize winners and is taken extremely seriously.
The committee
pointed out that greenhouse gas emissions have soared by 50 per cent
since 1990, while more than £660bn of investment floods into fossil fuel
infrastructure every year.
“Since the end of the Cold War, there
has been a cautious optimism about the ability of nuclear weapon states
to keep the nuclear arms race in check and to walk back slowly from the
precipice of nuclear destruction,” said Sharon Squassoni, a member of
the clock committee.
The last time the clock read three minutes
to midnight was in 1983 when “US-Soviet relations were at their iciest”
according to the bulletin. The lowest ever reading was of 11.58 in 1953
when the US decided to pursue the hydrogen bomb, a weapon far more
powerful than any nuclear bomb.
The highest reading was 17
minutes to midnight in 1991, when the Cold War officially ended and the
US and Russia began cutting their nuclear arsenals. A larger global

Paranormal investigator Scott Roberts talked about the pervasive
presence of the serpent in human history, religion, and in the alien
mythos of the Reptilians. He explored the idea that non-human
intelligences, such as the Annunaki described by Zecharia Sitchin,
visited and possibly created and controlled humans. Though the Annunaki
weren't specifically described as being serpentine in appearance, he
conjectured they could be Reptilians. A mythology, which may or may not
