Rouhani spoke of, quote, "the human tragedy in Syria." Yet, Iran directly participates in Assad's murder and massacre of tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children in Syria. And that regime is propping up a Syrian regime that just used chemical weapons against its own people.

Rouhani tells us not to worry. He assures us that all of this is not intended for nuclear weapons.

Why would a country with vast natural energy reserves invest billions in developing nuclear energy? Why would a country intent on merely civilian nuclear programs continue to defy multiple Security Council resolutions and incur the tremendous cost of crippling sanctions on its economy?

And why would a country with a peaceful nuclear program develop intercontinental ballistic missiles, whose sole purpose is to deliver nuclear warheads? You don't build ICBMs to carry TNT thousands of miles away; you build them for one purpose, to carry nuclear warheads. And Iran is building now ICBMs that the United States says could reach this city in three or four years.

Ladies and gentlemen, underground nuclear facilities, heavy water reactors, advanced centrifuges, ICBMs. See, it's not that it's hard to find evidence that Iran has a nuclear program, a nuclear weapons program; it's hard to find evidence that Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapons program.

Yet Iran faces one big problem, and that problem can be summed up in one word: sanctions.

Oil revenues have fallen. The currency has plummeted. Banks are hard-pressed to transfer money. So as a result, the regime is under intense pressure from the Iranian people to get the sanctions relieved or removed.

That's why Rouhani got elected in the first place. That's why he launched his charm offensive. He definitely wants to get the sanctions lifted; I guarantee you that. But he doesn't want to give up Iranians' nuclear — Iran's nuclear weapons program in return.

Now here's a strategy to achieve this. First, smile a lot. Smiling never hurts. Second, pay lip service to peace, democracy and tolerance. Third, offer meaningless concessions in exchange for lifting sanctions. And fourth, and the most important, ensure that Iran retains sufficient nuclear material and sufficient nuclear infrastructure to race to the bomb at a time it chooses to do so.

You know why Rouhani thinks he can get away with this? Because — because he's gotten away with it before, because his strategy of talking a lot and doing little has worked for him in the past.

A nuclear-armed Iran would have a choke hold on the world's main energy supplies.

Iran's regime leads these chants, "death to America, death to Israel," that it pledges to wipe Israel off the map.

Iran must cease all uranium enrichment. This is called for by several Security Council resolutions. Second, remove from Iran's territory the stockpiles of enriched uranium. Third, dismantle the infrastructure for nuclear breakout capability, including the underground facility at Qom and the advanced centrifuges in Natanz.

And, four, stop all work at the heavy water reactor in Iraq aimed at the production of plutonium. These steps would put an end to Iran's nuclear weapons program and eliminate its breakout capability.


"A county that could enrich uranium to about 3.5 percent will also have the capability to enrich it to about 90 percent. Having fuel cycle capability virtually means that a country that possesses this capability is able to produce nuclear weapons." Precisely. This is why Iran's nuclear weapons program must be fully and verifiably dismantled. And this is why the pressure on Iran must continue.

Ladies and gentlemen, Israel will never acquiesce to nuclear arms in the hands of a rogue regime that repeatedly promises to wipe us off the map. Against such a threat, Israel will have no choice but to defend itself.

The real crisis is that jobs offshoring by US corporations has permanently lowered US tax revenues by shifting what would have been consumer income, US GDP, and tax base to China, India, and other countries where wages and the cost of living are relatively low. On the spending side, twelve years of wars have inflated annual expenditures. The consequence is a wide deficit gap between revenues and expenditures.

Under the present circumstances, the deficit is too large to be closed. The Federal Reserve covers the deficit by printing $1,000 billion annually with which to purchase Treasury debt and mortgage-backed financial instruments. The use of the printing press on such a large scale undermines the US dollar's role as reserve currency, the basis for US power. Raising the debt limit simply allows the real crisis to continue. More money will be printed with which to purchase more new debt issues needed to close the gap between revenues and expenditures.

The supply of dollars or dollar denominated assets in foreign hands is vast. (The Social Security system's large surplus accumulated over a quarter century was borrowed by the Treasury and spent. In its place are non-marketable Treasury IOUs. Consequently, Social Security is one of the largest creditors to the US government.)

If foreigners lose confidence in the dollar, the drop in the dollar's exchange value would mean high inflation and the Federal Reserve's loss of control over interest rates. It is possible that a drop in the dollar's exchange value could initiate hyperinflation in the US.

The real crisis is the absence of intelligence among economists and policymakers who told us for 20 years not to worry about the offshoring of US jobs, because we were going to have a "New Economy" with better jobs.

Because tropical storm Karen is brewing over the Yucatan Channel and the southern Gulf of Mexico, the federal government has seen fit to call back thousands of FEMA's furloughed workers. The script-reading corporate media noted the fact this morning:

If the shutdown persists and becomes a problem, Obama has enough power under the various "war on terror" rulings to declare a national emergency and raise the debt ceiling by executive order. An executive branch that has the power to inter citizens indefinitely and to murder them without due process of law, can certainly set aside a ceiling on debt that jeopardizes the government.

As the federal government shutdown continues, Secretary of State John Kerry heads to Asia for secret talks on a sweeping new trade deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The TPP is often referred to by critics as "NAFTA on steroids," and would establishing a free-trade zone that would stretch from Vietnam to Chile, encompass 800 million people -- about a third of world trade and nearly 40 percent of the global economy. While the text of the treaty has been largely negotiated behind closed doors and until June, kept secret from Congress, more than 600 corporate advisors reportedly have access to the measure, including employees of Halliburton, and Monsanto. "This is not mainly about trade," says Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch. "It is a corporate trojan horse. The agreement has 29 chapters, and only five of them have to do with trade. The other 24 chapters either handcuff our domestic governments -- limiting food safety, environmental standards, financial regulation, energy and climate policy -- or establishing new powers for corporations."

Glenn Beck told his audience on Thursday that the news of the day — and a select group of stories in particular — needs to be examined in the context of "authoritarianism vs. libertarianism."

"This has been the battle since the beginning of time," he said. "Everything you see is just a battle in this larger war."

Beck said he believes his job is to point out the "signposts" of what's happening, and said we passed a "major" one in the last couple of days.

"I've told you before, I think we went from 'nudge' to 'shove' when we saw that dad in Baltimore forcefully dragged out of a school town hall when he just asked a simple question about...Common Core," Beck remarked. "From nudge to shove is hugely important, because that's what happens in every single collectivist society."

Beck said the steps are "nudge, shove, and shoot," and that if there is real trouble — particularly real economic trouble — you can go from shove to shoot "overnight."

The most recent example of "shove," Beck said, is the government strong-arming elderly World War II veterans in attempting to prevent them from visiting their memorial in Washington, D.C. (In case you haven't seen, they moved the barricades with a little help from Republican members of Congress and entered anyway.) "I believe we now have a government that does not care if they look benevolent or not," Beck asserted. "They don't care if their authoritarian actions are on full display for everyone to see — in fact, I think they want it this way." "They are teaching you a lesson," he said, adding that the government preventing veterans from accessing their memorial -- paid for by taxpayers and private citizens -- also reflects a "you didn't build that" mentality.

And it goes beyond that, Beck said, pointing to a handful of other locations that are not paid for by the federal government that the government still tried to shut down as part of the "government shutdown" this week.

"This is beyond not wise. You don't do that unless you're building a thugocracy," Beck said. "You come in with your stormtroopers and you say 'shut it down,' and you have to. They don't care if they bully vets, shut down parks that don't need to be shut down — they are showing you they're in control."

Beck went further: "They didn't care if they left people in Benghazi. They don't care the IRS was targeting individuals based on their political beliefs. This week they became in charge of your health care. They don't care that the IRS is now the one you have to answer to. They didn't care if the NSA monitors every aspect of your life, and stores statistical history on you. Why? Because they're building a thugocracy, and you've just passed an important milestone, and you need to know it."

"The thugs are in control, and they want you to know. That's why they're bullying the 90-year-olds. [It] goes way beyond politics," Beck said.

He noted that within the last few days alone, lawmakers have likened the GOP — and particularly the Tea Party — to kidnappers, suicide bombers, arsonists, extremists, and jihadists. "We're dealing with a whole new breed of people," Beck said. "They are setting up [that] these are the bad guys...Because when things start to fall apart, they're going to need somebody to say, 'get em!'"

Beck claimed progressives believe we are on the verge of fundamental change — that capitalism is in its final throes — and they are trying to make sure they have "somebody to blame" when they make the knockout punch.

"[Collectivism is] always pitched with a happy face and a promise that this time -- this time -- authoritarian rule will be different," Beck said. "But it's never different. It leaves a trail and a wake of bodies in every single instance. The consequence of collectivism has been cemented in history over and over and over again."

The near infrared camera will measure the ratio of carbon dioxide (CO2) to water (H2O) emissions from the cometary nuclei as a vital diagnostic of the comet's origins. Oh. And, the last week broke Meteor, Meteorites and Fireball records. I even saw a giant yellow & green one over Texas. It came from the South East. It was huge, bright and lasted about 7 seconds. That's what she said???. ugh. sorry.

Oh yeah. And, Our Government is about to shut down. So if NASA got hit very hard by the sequester, I imagine the shutdown will shut them down. Alas, all this too must pass.

The Eurozone Debt Crisis: When Will the Global Economy Recover? (2012)

The Eurozone crisis resulted from a combination of complex factors, including the globalization of finance; easy credit conditions during the 2002--2008 period that encouraged high-risk lending and borrowing practices; the 2007--2012 global financial crisis; international trade imbalances; real-estate bubbles that have since burst; the 2008--2012 global recession; fiscal policy choices related to government revenues and expenses; and approaches used by nations to bail out troubled banking industries and private bondholders, assuming private debt burdens or socialising losses.
A research report, completed in 2012 for the United States Congress explains, "The current Eurozone crisis has been unfolding since 2009, when a new Greek government revealed that previous Greek governments had been underreporting the budget deficit. The crisis subsequently spread to Ireland and Portugal, while raising concerns about Italy, Spain the European banking system, and more fundamental imbalances within the Eurozone"[18]
The underreporting was exposed sometime in the first quarter of 2010. The alarm of 'something smells' spread throughout some of Europe when Greece revealed that its 2009 deficit was revised from 5% of GDP (no greater than 3% of GDP was a rule of the Maastricht Treaty) to more than double that amount: 12.7%. The fact that the Greek debt exceeded $400 billion and France owned 10% of that debt, struck terror into investors at the word "default". Contagion was possible. Greece was bailed out in 2010 with a 110 billion euro direct loan by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund. After 2 years of fiscal austerity and Greek riots, another 130 billion euro loan was made. Greek austerity programs reduced public pensions and public wages, among the most generous in the world.

US President Barack Obama stated in June 2012: "Right now, [Europe's] focus has to be on strengthening their overall banking system...making a series of decisive actions that give people confidence that the banking system is solid...In addition, they're going to have to look at how do they achieve growth at the same time as they're carrying out structural reforms that may take two or three or five years to fully accomplish. So countries like Spain and Italy, for example, have embarked on some smart structural reforms that everybody thinks are necessary -- everything from tax collection to labour markets to a whole host of different issues. But they've got to have the time and the space for those steps to succeed. And if they are just cutting and cutting and cutting, and their unemployment rate is going up and up and up, and people are pulling back further from spending money because they're feeling a lot of pressure -- ironically, that can actually make it harder for them to carry out some of these reforms over the long term...[I]n addition to sensible ways to deal with debt and government finances, there's a parallel discussion that's taking place among European leaders to figure out how do we also encourage growth and show some flexibility to allow some of these reforms to really take root."[337]
The Economist wrote in June 2012: "Outside Germany, a consensus has developed on what Mrs. Merkel must do to preserve the single currency. It includes shifting from austerity to a far greater focus on economic growth; complementing the single currency with a banking union (with euro-wide deposit insurance, bank oversight and joint means for the recapitalisation or resolution of failing banks); and embracing a limited form of debt mutualisation to create a joint safe asset and allow peripheral economies the room gradually to reduce their debt burdens. This is the refrain from Washington, Beijing, London and indeed most of the capitals of the euro zone. Why hasn't the continent's canniest politician sprung into action?"

It is almost unbelievable that we have trusted an economic, casino like system, that can fall apart at any time with one turn of a card, or one reckless throw of the dice, which could trigger a world collapse resulting in endless suffering and misery for the whole of humanity.

There is an urgency to escape this system, an emergency so great that mere words can hardly portray it. That urgency is for human beings to break free from their subservience and slavery to governments and their reckless financial games. If that sounds exaggerated or overstated consider this; what would we do if we went to the supermarket and there was no food on the shelves? It sounds impossible right?

The fact that it almost sounds ridiculous and impossible tells us how conditioned we are. That scenario could happen at any time, any day, easily. How about if we also opened our taps and there was no water, or no heating in our houses, or worse still we lost our jobs and our houses and had nowhere to live anymore. All these things are hanging in the balance in our system, with one turn of the roulette wheel in the global gambling casino, run by people addicted to power and profit over anything else.

This may all sound too ridiculous, but we wouldn’t know what to do if things went wrong, we would be absolutely desperate, fighting over dandelion leaves in the hedgerows, rummaging in bins, and stealing people’s apples to feed our children. There would be complete chaos within days of a supermarket closing its doors on us.

Most people have no savings and are in debt to credit cards, loans, and mortgages. These people, which make up most of society, are literally only three wage cheques away from homelessness. If they lost their job and couldn’t pay the mortgage for three months they would be thrown out onto the street, kids and all.

For some amazing reason we have believed the politicians promises, but do we really think they are beautiful, compassionate beings dedicated to our well being and future comfort and stability, if we do we have been very easily fooled. It is a bitter pill to swallow, but it is a fact that we have been rendered virtually helpless, walking a literal tightrope, at the mercy of the global casino and its reckless players. It is an awful truth to accept, but it is better to know the truth, because it gives us a chance to do something about it. People don’t even know how to grow a potato anymore, and worse still don’t have time.

We have become dis-empowered beyond belief, but we must not beat ourselves up about it, it’s been done to us not by us, though of course we went along with it. We have slowly been convinced that we can’t look after ourselves any more. And who can blame us, don’t we all want to be looked after, spoon fed and taken care of by someone, and so the oligarchs prey on that feeling with impunity.

You have to admire our trust and belief in a system that promises to look after us and save us. It really is a wonderful endearing quality in humans, really admirable and beautiful. Trust is lovely in the right hands, but in the wrong hands it will inevitably be taken advantage of. We have become accustomed to do, think, eat, drink, wear, feel, and adhere to virtually anything we are told to do. As I have mentioned before but will say it here again that the oligarchs call us cattle behind our backs, and have a good laugh about our subservience to them, and that’s a documented fact. It doesn’t feel nice does it? But we can only escape a situation that is dangerous for us when we recognize it, and that recognition is now being forced on us as we watch the unsustainable, unethical world economy teeter on disaster, which is a dire wake up call that we find another way – Jason Liosatos www.jasonliosatos.com
