The Bible code (Hebrew: צפנים בתנ"ך), also known as the Torah code, is a purported set of secret messages encoded within the Hebrew text of the Torah. This hidden code has been described as a method by which specific letters from the text can be selected to reveal an otherwise obscured message. Though Bible codes have been postulated and studied for centuries, the subject has been popularized in modern times by Michael Drosnin's book The Bible Code.
Many examples have been documented in the past. One cited example is that by taking every 50th letter of the Book of Genesis starting with the first taw, the Hebrew word "torah" is spelled out. The same happens in the Book of Exodus. Modern computers have been used to search for similar patterns and more complex variants, and published in a peer-reviewed academic journal in 1994. Proponents hold that it is exceedingly unlikely such sequences could arise by chance, while skeptics and opponents hold that such sequences do often arise by chance, as demonstrated on other Hebrew and English texts
Other types of Bible codes
Another example of an alleged prediction coded in the text of the Bible, which is also attributed to Rabbi Chaim Michael Dov Weissmandl (who was mentioned above),concerns the hanging of 10 Nazi leaders on October 16, 1946 following the Nuremberg Trials. Rabbi Weissmandl claimed that this event was predicted by the Biblical story about the hanging of the 10 sons of Haman, also as a final consequence of a (failed) genocidal plan against the Jews. The "coded" aspect of his speculation is that in the Masoretic text of the Bible, three letters within the list of Haman's sons are marked as small letters: the tav ת of Parshandatha, the shin ש of Parmashtha and the zayin ז of Vajezatha. Rabbi Weissmandl pointed out that if you combine the three small letters together they form the word תשז, which in the accepted Hebrew notation for year numbers (using Gematria) corresponds to the Jewish year 707 Anno Mundi, which is the Jewish year that the 10 Nazi leaders were executed (October 16, 1946 corresponds to Tishrei 21, 5707, the day known as Hoshanna Rabba, the day of severe judgments for the nations of the world, according to the Jewish calendar). Many people criticize various aspects of this speculation. They point out that there are several different traditions about what are the small letters in the names of Haman's sons. Also they point out that the proponents only mention the similarities between the cases, but ignore the many differences. More in general they point out that this is not exactly an a priori prediction, but rather a postdiction, and therefore the statistical significance of it, if there is any at all, cannot be reliably calculated.
Former reporter for the Wall Street Journal, Michael Drosnin spoke about the Bible Code, and the various prophetic messages that have been gleaned from it. Based on a computer software program developed by the Israeli mathematician, Prof. Eliyahu Rips, the Bible Code finds hidden messages or phrases in equidistant letter sequences in the Hebrew language version of the first five books of the Bible. What convinced Drosnin of its reality was the correct prediction of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, which he discovered about a year before it happened. He recounted how he tried to warn Rabin beforehand, and now meets with various intelligence agencies such as the Mossad.
A year before the 2008 election, Drosnin said he found the phrase "B. Obama is President" in the Bible Code, and also learned that there was danger that could be prevented for Obama. He related this information to Oprah Winfrey, who was said to pass this on to Obama. Drosnin also said that according to the Bible Code, it was Barack Obama's destiny to help prevent a nuclear terrorist attack, and that he will be re-elected in 2012.
After the 9-11 attacks, Drosnin said he found references to it in the Bible Code, with such phrases as "twin towers," "airplane," "terror attack," and "it knocked down," all encoded within a few verses. Currently, he is searching for a "code key," which might help unravel some of the mysteries of the Bible Code, such as who created it. According to the Bible Code, the code key is connected to an obelisk in Jordan, he revealed.

Finding Peace, Happiness and Love in the Global Insanity – By Jason Liosatos
We are currently living within the most insane time in our history as we know it, and it is becoming more and more difficult, and challenging, for people to hold their center, balance and sanity in our system which is so consumed by fear, anxiety, stress, worry, with most people suffering from an underlying, agitated feeling, and a rush to get to the next thing at the expense of peace and happiness in the present moment. Most people are suffering from an unspoken anxiety and worry, which is rarely mentioned through a fear of being labelled a failure or someone who cannot cope, but in truth most of us suffer from similar symptoms of anxiety and fear, stemming mostly from a continual necessity to make money, and even when we make it we know we have to make more, and more …..and more.It is becoming obvious that if we carry on our current trajectory then we will almost certainly destroy ourselves, and ironically the antidote to that destruction lies within the very problem, which is ourselves., because when we change ourselves we change everything. We all have a yearning, a built in desire, an intrinsic pursuit towards peace, happiness and love, but our current system has a detrimental choking effect on these beautiful attributes within us, and hence we struggle to retain our balance and beauty, as we struggle with a system which is designed for debt, short term greed and fear, and most certainly not designed for freedom.
The peace, happiness and love we yearn for is not something ‘out there’ which we have to find, but it is in us all the time, buried and concealed just beneath our rush, agitation and noisiness. Most of us are so used to living in the future, rushing just ahead of ourselves, that we miss the present moment, and if we are continually missing the present moment by projecting into the future, then we miss our lives because ‘now’ is all we ever have. Anxiety and fear have a paralytic effect on consciousness, peace, happiness and love, and it is up to us, in our current global emergency, to rediscover and align with that great peace, happiness and love within us.
The intense pressures and panic of continually pursuing, and making money to survive tend to dislocate us from ourselves and those loved ones around us, creating an isolation, a sort of secret pain that most people feel within, hiding it from those around us and often hiding it from ourselves. We have become an isolated society, separated from ourselves and others, and I believe we have reached breaking point both personally and globally. We are so disconnected from ourselves, each other, and from peace, happiness and love that we have reached a critical point where there is an emergency that we re establish those essential attributes.
We are witnessing the unfoldment, and the urgent necessity, of an emergency transformation of human beings, a recovery back to what we have lost through our brutal system which has dislocated us, literally tearing most people, secretly, apart. Ironically it is the suppression and struggle of the system that is the very thing which is forcing people to awaken and try to struggle free from it, hence the consciousness revolutions and uprisings globally. The pressure of the system is like a pillow being pressed against humanity’s face, and most people feel that suffocation intensely now as austerity measures are forced on us, and people want to be free.
There is a revolution of consciousness and conscience, with people everywhere feeling the urgency to relocate, remember, realign, and rediscover themselves again, and to reconnect to that beautiful essence, enthusiasm, and love for themselves, those around them, and the wonderful world they live in. Human beings are getting dangerously accustomed to a system of debt and fear which should really horrify them, but it has become the norm.

Biography:
Anthropologist Hank Wesselman, PHD., is one of those rare, cutting edge scientists who truly walks between the worlds. He received his Master's degree in zoology at the University of Colorado and his Doctoral degree in anthropology from the University of California. Hank first became interested in indigenous spiritual traditions back in the 1960s. Since then, his work as an anthropologist has allowed him to spend much of his life living among traditional peoples in remote areas, seldom, if ever, visited by outsiders.

Anthropologist and author Hank Wesselman discussed his eight years of visitations, begun in 1996, with the late Hawaiian shaman and kahuna Hale Makua, who was like the Dalai Lama to the Polynesian world. As he chanted the names of his ancestors, "I could see him very subtly transforming...as ancestor after ancestor used the bridge that he was creating to come through his body, and through his mind, into our world," he said of Makua.
Makua gave Wesselman a gift-- a wooden bowl he called the "bowl of light," which represented the Aumakua (our higher self). Every time we step into the negative polarity some of this light gets diminished, Makua said, adding that the problem with the world today is that it's run primarily by "men whose bowls of light are filled by stones." According to Makua, people play out a primary role or archetype in each lifetime: server, artist, warrior, scholar, explorer/sage, priest/healer, or chief.
Makua told Wesselman of an Ancestral Grand Plan, which stressed connection rather separation and included a political foundation based on compassion, and the removal of national and religious barriers, as well as the idea that humans are in the process of becoming gods. Wesselman also reviewed his visions of experiencing life as one of his descendant selves in a tropical forest near the flooded valley of central California. He believes this possibly represents our future after global warming and the rise of sea level have taken hold.

An al Qaeda plot is linked to an announcement by the State Department that it was closing several consulates and embassies around the world on Sunday due to a security threat, CBS News has learned.
CBS News correspondent David Martin reports that U.S. intelligence has picked up signs of an al Qaeda plot against American diplomatic posts in the Middle East and other Muslim countries. The intelligence does not mention a specific location, which is why all embassies that would normally be open on Sunday have been ordered to close. That includes embassies and consulates in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, where Sunday is the start of the work week.
Martin further reported that officials say this appears to be a real plot in the making and not just the normal chatter among terrorists talking about attacks they'd like to carry out. But these same officials add they are missing key pieces of information.
As of 7:00 a.m. ET Friday, at least 17 embassies have announced that they will close on Sunday in accordance with the State Department's guidance, including the U.S. embassies in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Mauritania, Sudan and Djibouti. A statement on the website of the embassy in Kuwait explained, "The Department of State has instructed certain U.S. Embassies and Consulates to remain closed or to suspend operations on Sunday, August 4...Accordingly, the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait will be closed on Sunday, August 4."
In the meantime, the statement continued, "All U.S. citizen services appointments and visa appointments have been cancelled and have been rescheduled on an individual basis."
Earlier, Marie Harf, the deputy spokeswoman for the State Department, told reporters that the step was taken as a "precautionary" measure. She did not provide further specifics on the nature of the threat or which embassies would be forced to shutter for the day.
"The Department of State has instructed certain U.S. embassies and consulates to remain closed or to suspend operations on Sunday, August 4th," she said, explaining that the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."
She said that is is "possible" some facilities would remain closed for more than a day, depending on the results of a security analysis.
A senior State Department official told CBS News: "For those who asked about which embassies and consulates we have instructed to suspend operations on August 4th, the answer is that we have instructed all U.S. Embassies and Consulates that would have normally been open on Sunday to suspend operations, specifically on August 4th. It is possible we may have additional days of closing as well." The official added: "The Department, when conditions warrant, takes steps like this to balance our continued operations with security and safety."
Harf declined to say from which region of the world the threat had emanated, saying only that "security considerations have led us to take this precautionary step, as we do from time to time."

Tent Cities Popping Up All Around New Jersey - Camden Tent City
8/2/13 - Camden, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Tent cities have popped up across New Jersey including the state's poorest city. Meg Baker chased the story of Camden's tent city. Residing off Route 38 at Wilson Boulevard under an overpass, through woods and down a path of trash lays a community of people living in tents. This particular community was relocated from Federal Street and it's inhabited by an array of people: addicts, people who have fallen on hard times and some with mental illness.
Baker took a tour of this run down community and the pictures show just how heart-wrenching this situation really is. Among the homes are decomposing food, broken furniture, and feral cats.
When asked how long a woman had lived there, she only answered, "Too long."
Many of the people who live in the Camden tent city walk down to Cathedral Kitchen. The chef says he feeds about a hundred people a day from the tent city.
"This is just a lot of good people who fell on bad times," Executive Chef Jonathan Jernigan says. "Lost their jobs, lost their family, a lot of depression and mental illness."
In the studio the Chasers discussed what needs to happen to help these people.
Baker plans to visit a tent city in Essex County, which has the largest population of homeless people in New Jersey. She also plans to go to a Newark tent city.

Professor Todd Humpreys from the department of aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics led the team which created a false GPS signal generator which was able to override the ships navigation computers as it travelled from Monaco to Rhodes in the Mediterranean. The ship - the White Rose of Drachs , a 65m luxury yacht owned by British property magnate Michael Evans - set off an alarm, telling the crew that it had wandered off course. The "correct" course was plotted by the computers for the crew, who saw no reason not to accept the instruction. The ship's automated systems were completely unaware of what was going on. Crew aboard the ship reported there was not a single signal or alarm indicating the new course plot was incorrect. Such spoofing is reminiscent of a long history of "wrecking" where false lighthouses and beacons were established on remote and dangerous stretches of coast. Ships would be lured to their fate on the rocks, where piratical salvage crews sought to recover their valuable cargoes. "I didn't know, until we performed this experiment, just how possible it is to spoof a marine vessel and how difficult it is to detect this attack." Professor Humphreys said. "With 90 per cent of the world's freight moving across the seas and a great deal of the world's human transportation going across the skies, we have to gain a better understanding of the broader implications of GPS spoofing."

Former U.S. congressman John LeBoutillier (R) New York, for former U.S. congressman Bill Hendon (R) North Carolina, discussed the evidence for a sizable group of American POWs being left behind in Vietnam. LeBoutillier said that after the war, a deal was cut to pay billions to North Vietnam for rebuilding their country and returning the remaining POWs. But as the Watergate scandal broke, Nixon and Kissinger reneged on the arrangement, and around 700 prisoners were kept in Vietnam. Others have worked for 20 years in Washington DC to uncover the truth about the POWs, and there has been much intelligence that has referenced the missing soldiers. Specifically, spy satellite photographs, one of which (see below) showed "USA" spelled out in 12 ft. tall letters in a rice field, along with a 24 ft. tall "Walking K" an "escape and evasion" code only known to US pilots in N. Laos. In the early 80's, Reagan tried to get the POWs back, but advisors talked him out of it. It was agreed upon by the Nixon administration and the North Vietnamese that the other 700 POWs would be released upon delivery of $4 billion in war reparations from the United States to the North Vietnamese government.
But as the Watergate scandal broke, Nixon reneged on the arrangement, and the last 700 POWs were kept in Vietnam. All future presidents after Nixon had their own reasons for failing to take notice off the 700 POWs left behind: For Carter it was the American public's desire to put Vietnam behind them, and later, the Iranian hostage crisis. In the early 80's, Reagan tried to get the POWs back, but his advisors talked him out of it. The problem, the advisors told him, was that the fragile U.S.-backed El Salvadoran government was under serious threat of being overthrown by Russian and Cuban trained Communists, and Nicaragua didn't look far behind. The advisors told Regan that it was necessary to overlook the POWs in order to put all American military efforts toward the darkening South American situation.
As the 80's gave way to the 90's, re-engagement of Vietnam by the U.S. government became a priority. Thus George H.W. Bush helped maintain the cover up of mounting evidence that hundreds of POWs still survived in Indochina, as did Bill Clinton, who himself struck down all sanctions and embargoes against Vietnam in 1992. Archived material released by the BoE details how the gold bars were sold on behalf of Germany's central bank, the Reichsbank, in 1939, after being seized in the Nazi invasion.
This is despite the fact that British government had frozen all Czech assets being held in London at the time.
In the report, written in 1950, the BoE admitted that at the outbreak of the Second World War "and for some time afterwards" the incident involving the Czech gold "still rankled" and was "widely misunderstood."
Officials wrote: "Outside the Bank and the Government the Bank's position has probably never been thoroughly appreciated and their action at the time was widely misunderstood."
They describe how a request was made in March 1939 to transfer gold, then worth £5.6m, from a Czech National Bank account at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) to a Reichsbank account they also held.
Some £4m of the gold went to banks in Belgium and Holland, with the rest sold in London.
The BoE documents, never published before yesterday, reveals that the then chancellor Sir John Simon had asked the governor of the bank at the time, Montagu Norman, if they were holding any of the Czech gold in May 1939.
It continued: "The Governor in his reply (30th May) did not answer the question, but pointed out that the Bank held gold from time to time for the BIS and had no knowledge whether it was their own property or that of their customers.
"Hence, they could not say whether the gold was held for the National Bank of Czechoslovakia."

Who Will Be The Next Fed President? - Larry Summers vs Janet Yellen
Larry Summers, working under the Clinton administration, pushed for a bill that would deregulate the banks. He also pushed a bill through congress which effectively took away glass steagall, allowing investment banks "gamble" with depositors money. Both of these events largely played a roll in the gigantic crash of '08 and the financial recession. Whether or not Mr. Summers will succeed in becoming the next chair of the Fed is still unknown, however it is safe to say that he will continue the path that Mr. Bernanke has set us on. I don't think Mr. Summers will end up being Obama's nominee because of the bad press that would result from this move. The other candidate seems much more in tune with Bernanke's so called "recovery path."
