The dramatic recent events in Cyprus have highlighted the fundamental weakness in the European banking system and the extreme fragility of fractional reserve banking. Cypriot banks invested heavily in Greek sovereign debt, and last summer's Greek debt restructuring resulted in losses equivalent to more than 25 percent of Cyprus' GDP. These banks then took their bad investments to the government, demanding a bailout from an already beleaguered Cypriot treasury. The government of Cyprus then turned to the European Union (EU) for a bailout.

The terms insisted upon by the troika (European Commission, European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund) before funding the bailout were nothing short of highway robbery. While bank depositors have traditionally been protected in the event of bankruptcy or liquidation, the troika insisted that all bank depositors pay a tax of between 6.75 and 10 percent of their total deposits to help fund the bailout.

While one can sympathize with EU taxpayers not wanting to fund yet another bailout of a poorly-managed banking system, forcing the Cypriot people to pay for the foolish risks taken by their government and bankers is also criminal. In their desire to punish a "tax haven" catering supposedly to Russian oligarchs, the EU elites ensured that ordinary citizens would suffer just as much as foreign depositors. Imagine the reaction if in September 2008, the US government had financed its $700 billion bank bailout by directly looting American taxpayers' bank accounts!

While the Cypriot parliament rejected that first proposal, they will have no say in the final proposal delivered by the EU and IMF: deposits over 100,000 euros are likely to see losses of at least 40 percent and possibly as much as 80 percent. "Temporary" capital controls that were supposed to last for days will now last at least a month and might remain in effect for years.

Especially affected have been the elderly, who were unable to use ATMs or to transfer money electronically. Despite the fact that ATMs severely limited the size of withdrawals during the two week-long bank closure, reports indicated that account holders who had access to Cypriot bank branches in London and Athens were able to withdraw most of their funds, leading to speculation that there would be no money available when banks finally opened up again. In other words, the supposed Russian oligarch money may well be already gone.

Remember that under a fractional reserve banking system only a small percentage of deposits is kept on hand for dispersal to depositors. The rest of the money is loaned out. Not only are many of the loans made by these banks going bad, but the reserve requirement in Euro-system countries is only one percent! If just one euro out of every hundred is withdrawn from banks, the bank reserves would be completely exhausted and the whole system would collapse. Is it any wonder, then, that the EU fears a major bank run and has shipped billions of euros to Cyprus?

The elites in the EU and IMF failed to learn their lesson from the popular backlash to these tax proposals, and have openly talked about using Cyprus as a template for future bank bailouts. This raises the prospect of raids on bank accounts, pension funds, and any investments the government can get its hands on. In other words, no one's money is safe in any financial institution in Europe. Bank runs are now a certainty in future crises, as the people realize that they do not really own the money in their accounts. How long before bureaucrat and banker try that here?

Unfortunately, all of this is the predictable result of a fiat paper money system combined with fractional reserve banking. When governments and banks collude to monopolize the monetary system so that they can create money out of thin air, the result is a business cycle that wreaks havoc on the economy. Pyramiding more and more loans on top of a tiny base of money will create an economic house of cards just waiting to collapse. The situation in Cyprus should be both a lesson and a warning to the United States. We need to end the Federal Reserve, stay away from propping up the euro, and return to a sound monetary system.

"We formally inform the White House and Pentagon that the ever-escalating U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK (North Korea) and its reckless nuclear threat will be smashed by the strong will of all the united service personnel and people and cutting-edge smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear strike means of the DPRK and that the merciless operation of its revolutionary armed forces in this regard has been finally examined and ratified," a spokesman for the General Staff of the Korean People's Army said in a statement carried by the English language service of the state news agency KCNA.

The White House has issued the following reaction:
We've seen today's statement by North Korea, again making unhelpful and unconstructive threats. It is yet another offering in a long line of provocative statements that only serve to further isolate North Korea from the rest of the international community and undermine its goal of economic development. North Korea should stop its provocative threats and instead concentrate on abiding by its international obligations.

Earlier today, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said, "As they have ratcheted up (their) bellicose, dangerous rhetoric — and some of the actions they've taken over the last few weeks present a real and clear danger and threat to the interests, certainly of our allies, starting with South Korea and Japan."

You don't have to live in Africa to experience this government imposed poverty. The idea that food stamps, educational subsidies and health benefits are entitlement programs that 'the poor' are unworthy to receive are examples of the same mindset occurring here in the U.S. But the gutting of these programs here is more subtle and insidious than the more blatant practices your article highlighted. It is almost that as the economy grows, and the 'one percent' that are the beneficiaries of this growth get richer, the idea that 'the government' spends too much money on 'entitlements' and restrictions on the wealthy (i.e. corporations and their stock holders) must be removed gets stronger. It gets pretty hard to believe that this is not deliberate. It is probably just human nature, or some mathematical property of the capitalistic economic system that puts pressure on that system to make the 'elite' even stronger, rather than a conspiracy. It sure seems like one though, and government needs to find a way to ensure a more equitable distribution of the wealth of our nation. Its too bad that idea has been branded 'socialism' and therefore 'anathema' to American values. It only seems to be common sense to me. The idea that governments should ensure at least a somewhat equitable distribution of wealth among its people is anathema in the U.S. and is under attack in Europe as well. In Africa it was never allowed to take hold, and the financial powers that run the world seem to like it that way. I think its absolutely insane that the consensus opinion is that we spend too much money on entitlements - like health care and education. That the wealthy corporations need less 'regulation' because they provide the 'jobs'. The elite class that run these corporations are not interested in providing jobs, they just want more money, and each job created means money that, for them, flows in the wrong direction. I do hope that the 'occupy movement' is a sign that the American People are finally waking up to this fact. I don't think 'the one percent' as individuals are inherently evil, nor do I propose class warfare, but a new model needs to be built that strips power from the financial institutions, for those institutions are structured so that policies that keep the money flowing upward to the elites of all countries benefit them as well. That power is currently corrupting all nations, not just Africa. I do hope a way can be found to 'fix the system', because it is obviously totally out of control.

Unlike drug approvals, biotech companies do not conduct human studies. They would therefore fail to identify both general human health reactions, and the potentially more serious ones endured by sub-populations. "If some consumers suffer from stomach problems or ulcers," for example, the paper states, "the new toxins will possibly act differently; the digestion in children could be affected too." The paper recommends the implementation of post market monitoring, which, among other things, "should be linked with the possibility of detecting allergenicity reactions to GMOs in routine medicine."

But even if authorities wanted to conduct epidemiological studies on GMOs, the authors acknowledge that they "are not feasible in America, since there is no organized traceability of GMOs anywhere on the continent." Not only is labeling of GMOs urgently needed to allow such studies to proceed, the study says:

"The traceability of products from animals fed on GMOs is also crucial. The reason for this is because they can develop chronic diseases which are not utterly known today.... Labeling animals fed on GMOs is therefore necessary because some pesticide residues linked to GMOs could pass into the food chain."

They also point out that "even if pesticides residues or DNA fragments are not toxic nor transmitted by themselves" nevertheless, "nobody would want to eat disabled or physiologically modified animals after long-term GMOs ingestion."

"New experiments," they concluded, "should be systematically performed to protect the health of billions of people that could consume directly or indirectly these transformed products."

GMOs are used in biological and medical research, production of pharmaceutical drugs, experimental medicine (e.g. gene therapy), and agriculture (e.g. golden rice, resistance to herbicides). The term "genetically modified organism" does not always imply, but can include, targeted insertions of genes from one species into another. For example, a gene from a jellyfish, encoding a fluorescent protein called GFP, can be physically linked and thus co-expressed with mammalian genes to identify the location of the protein encoded by the GFP-tagged gene in the mammalian cell. Such methods are useful tools for biologists in many areas of research, including those who study the mechanisms of human and other diseases or fundamental biological processes in eukaryotic or prokaryotic cells.

Bacteria were the first organisms to be modified in the laboratory, due to their simple genetics.[22] These organisms are now used for several purposes, and are particularly important in producing large amounts of pure human proteins for use in medicine.[23]

Genetically modified bacteria are used to produce the protein insulin to treat diabetes.[24] Similar bacteria have been used to produce clotting factors to treat haemophilia,[25] and human growth hormone to treat various forms of dwarfism.[26][27]

In addition, various genetically engineered micro-organisms are routinely used as sources of enzymes for the manufacture of a variety of processed foods. These include alpha-amylase from bacteria, which converts starch to simple sugars, chymosin from bacteria or fungi that clots milk protein for cheese making, and pectinesterase from fungi which improves fruit juice clarity.

Federal budget deficit was about $1 Trillion, while defense spending was $670 Billion. So, if you cut all defense spending, you'd still be $330 Billion short. Soon China and India alone will own 65% of that GDP. By 2020 the west will be a 3rd world country. Get used to being poor because there's no fix for the GDP shift.

The politicians of the western world are coming after your bank accounts. In fact, Cyprus-style “bail-ins” are actually proposed in the new Canadian government budget. When I first heard about this I was quite skeptical, so I went and looked it up for myself. And guess what? It is right there in black and white on pages 144 and 145 of “Economic Action Plan 2013″ which the Harper government has already submitted to the House of Commons.

This new budget actually proposes “to implement a ‘bail-in’ regime for systemically important banks” in Canada. “Economic Action Plan 2013″ was submitted on March 21st, which means that this “bail-in regime” was likely being planned long before the crisis in Cyprus ever erupted. So exactly what in the world is going on here? In addition, as you will see below, it is being reported that the European Parliament will soon be voting on a law which would require that large banks be “bailed in” when they fail. In other words, that new law would make Cyprus-style bank account confiscation the law of the land for the entire EU.

I can’t even begin to describe how serious all of this is. From now on, when major banks fail they are going to bail them out by grabbing the money that is in your bank accounts. This is going to absolutely shatter faith in the banking system and it is actually going to make it far more likely that we will see major bank failures all over the western world.

What you are about to see absolutely amazed me when I first saw it. The Canadian government is actually proposing that what just happened in Cyprus should be used as a blueprint for future bank failures up in Canada.

The following comes from pages 144 and 145 of “Economic Action Plan 2013″ which you can find right here. Apparently the goal is to find a way to rescue “systemically important banks” without the use of taxpayer funds…

A senior Obama administration official told CBS News Friday that North Korea's belligerent words and war-like preparations are more bluff than bite.

"North Korea is in a mindset of war, but North Korea is not going to war," said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to offer insight into the latest administration thinking on the volatile situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The official said North Korea is doing two things that signal it is not spoiling for war: maintaining continuous and unfettered access to the Kaesong Industrial Complex six miles north of the Demilitarized Zone and by continuing to promote tourists visits to North Korea, even amid its banging of war drums.

"There is pot-banging and chest-thumping, but they have literature attracting tourists that explicitly says pay no attention to all that (public) talk about nuclear war or another kind of war," the official said.

Kaesong is a hive of business activity and about 200 South Koreans travel there daily. It produces about $2 billion of annual trade and commerce revenue for the North. Many experts consider its fate and status the best signal of North Korea's hostile intentions.

On Saturday, the North renewed its threat to close the complex, reportedly saying through its state-controlled news agency that references to its ongoing operation as a source of capital "damages our dignity."

Still, as long as access to Kaesong remains open, the consensus, also shared by the White House, is the North Korean threat is less than meets the eye.

"The widely held belief is this is for internal purposes," the official said, referring to North Korean dictator Kim Jung Un's need to increase his visibility and the military's sense of his commitment to its prestige and national authority.

And yet, the official confirmed South Korea reports of increased activity by North Korean military personnel near ballistic missile sites. Kim has placed those missile sites on stand-by alert and said it was time to "settle accounts" with the "imperialist" United States. The administration official said the activity, though, was believed to be related solely to exercises and training - not actual war preparations.

"North Korea is in its training cycle, and North Korea is gearing up for some kind of fireworks," the official said. "It will either be a Roman Candle or a rocket. But, either way, that will happen explicitly within the context of training."

The official's comments came amid reports that North Korea announced it was at a "state of war."

In response to those reports, Caitlin Hayden, a National Security Council spokeswoman, said the U.S. takes the threat seriously but also called the North's statement "unconstructive."



North Korea said on Saturday that it was entering a "state of war" with South Korea in a continuing escalation of tough rhetoric against Seoul and Washington after coming under international sanctions for its nuclear test.
"From this time on, the North-South relations will be entering the state of war and all issues raised between the North and the South will be handled accordingly," a statement carried by the North's official KCNA news agency said.

KCNA said the statement was issued jointly by the North's government, ruling party and other organisations.

North Korea has been threatening to attack the South and US military bases almost on a daily basis since the beginning of March, when US and South Korean militaries started routine drills, and has ordered its armed forces on the highest alert.

But the impoverished state has kept a joint industrial zone that is the source of hard currency where hundreds of South Korean workers and vehicles enter daily after crossing the rival Koreas' heavily armed border

The United States has positioned near North Korea a destroyer capable of shooting down missiles in the latest military move amid a showdown with the communist state, an official said Monday.
The USS Fitzgerald, which had sailed to South Korea as part of recent exercises, has been sent off the southwestern coast of the Korean peninsula instead of returning to its home port in Japan, a US defense official said.
The U.S. moved a ballistic-missile-defense capable ship into position near the Korean peninsula to counter the threat of a North Korean missile launch, defense officials said Monday.
Meanwhile, South Korea said Monday it would speed up plans to develop missile-defense systems, as President Park Geun-hye called for "strong retaliation" against any provocations by the North, saying that the country's military should "make a strong and swift response in initial combat without any political considerations" to any provocation from the North

Fox News Reports US Flexes Muscle Over South Korea, Sends F-22s Amid North Korea Threats Days after the US flies two B-2 bombers from a Missouri airbase to South Korea in show of support for allies, military sends F-22 Raptors — the military's most advanced fighter — from a base in Japan to run war drills.



The United States has sent two F-22 stealth fighter jets to South Korea to join Seoul forces in military exercises after North Korea warned the Korean Peninsula has entered "a state of war."

A Pentagon spokesman confirms to Fox News that the F-22 Raptors were deployed to Osan Air Base in South Korea from Japan on Sunday to support ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills.

"This exercise has been planned for some time and is part of the air component of the Foal Eagle exercise," spokesman George Little told reporters Monday.

Meanwhile, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un gathered legislators Monday for an annual spring parliamentary session that followed a ruling party declaration that nuclear bomb building and a stronger economy were the nation's top priorities.

The meeting of the Supreme People's Assembly follows near-daily threats from Pyongyang, including vows of nuclear strikes on South Korea and the U.S. In a statement released Sunday, U.S. military in South Korea urged North Korea to restrain itself.

"(North Korea) will achieve nothing by threats or provocations, which will only further isolate North Korea and undermine international efforts to ensure peace and stability in Northeast Asia," the statement said.

Meanwhile, North Korea said Saturday its armed forces, "will blow up U.S. bases for aggression in its mainland and in the Pacific operational theatres including Hawaii and Guam."

Kim also threatened to shut down a border factory complex that is the last major symbol of inter-Korean cooperation, according to the Associated Press.

The threats are seen as part of an effort to provoke the new government in Seoul to change its policies toward Pyongyang and to win diplomatic talks with Washington in order to gain more aid.

The White House says the U.S. is taking North Korea's threats seriously, but has also noted Pyongyang's history of "bellicose rhetoric."

On Thursday, U.S. military officials revealed that two B-2 stealth bombers dropped dummy munitions on an uninhabited South Korean island as part of annual defense drills that Pyongyang sees as rehearsals for invasion. Hours later, Kim ordered his generals to put rockets on standby and threatened to strike American targets if provoked.

Military analysts have said a full-scale conflict between North and South Korea is extremely unlikely, noting that the Korean Peninsula has remained in a technical state of war for 60 years. But the North's continued threats toward South Korea and the United States have raised worries that a misjudgment between the sides could lead to a clash.

In addition to the military exercise, the U.S. will fortify its defenses against a potential North Korean missile attack by adding more than a dozen missile interceptors to the 26 already in place at Fort Greely, Alaska, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has also announced.

Extreme weather events and earth changes including extreme weather (extreme hot and cold temperatures), massive earthquakes, massive floods, meteorites, meteors including the one in Russia near the Ural Mountains, hurricanes, which unfolded across the world in February 2013.

The natural disasters and distress of nations in February 2013 point to the prophecies of Christ, Who knows all things, regarding the signs of the end of the world mentioned in Matthew 24 and Luke 21.

In Mark 13:8, we read, For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

In Luke 21:11 - And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

In Luke 21:25, And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.

More is yet to come including a new world order including a one world government and a one world religion that will see the Vatican and the US join forces to enforce Sunday observance, which will be the mark (Sunday) of the beast (Vatican). In Bible prophecy, a beast represents a nation (Daniel 7:23).

The RFID chip is not the mark of the beast but rather will be the technology that will be used to enforce Sunday rest worldwide, which goes directly against the 7th day Sabbath commandment of the Most High (Exodus 20:8-11).

It is time to turn to Christ for the salvation of your souls. Embrace Him as your Savior, keep His holy ten commandments through the Holy Spirit (Exodus 20), put your complete faith and trust in Him and He will deliver you. He is the Answer!

There is a real, viable, proven in the USA, alternate monetary system that benefits the people not the bankers. We need to end fractional reserve banking. The government should issue debt free money by spending it into existance (roads, schools…) instead of private banks printing it out of ‘thin air’ as debt with interest. All this means is that banks must lend out money that actually have, not just what they create out of thin air, like credit unions. This way there would be no national debt, no interest payments on that debt.All countries need to end fractional reserve banking.
