Washington's decision to arm Syria's Sunni Muslim rebels has plunged America into the great Sunni-Shia conflict of the Islamic Middle East, entering a struggle that now dwarfs the Arab revolutions which overthrew dictatorships across the region.

For the first time, all of America's 'friends' in the region are Sunni Muslims and all of its enemies are Shiites. Breaking all President Barack Obama's rules of disengagement, the US is now fully engaged on the side of armed groups which include the most extreme Sunni Islamist movements in the Middle East.

The Independent on Sunday has learned that a military decision has been taken in Iran -- even before last week's presidential election -- to send a first contingent of 4,000 Iranian Revolutionary Guards to Syria to support President Bashar al-Assad's forces against the largely Sunni rebellion that has cost almost 100,000 lives in just over two years.

Iran is now fully committed to preserving Assad's regime, according to pro-Iranian sources which have been deeply involved in the Islamic Republic's security, even to the extent of proposing to open up a new 'Syrian' front on the Golan Heights against Israel.

Former French Foreign Minister Roland Dumas said that Britain had been preparing gunmen to invade Syria two years before the crisis there flared up in 2011.

During a TV show, Dumas said "I was in Britain two years ago, and I met British officials, some my friends...they admitted that they were up to something in Syria."

"They even asked me to join them in my capacity as a foreign minister, but I declined," he added.

He indicated that the plan of striking Syria had been prepared in advance long before the 2011 events, adding that the goal was to overthrow the Syrian government that considers Israel an enemy.

The TV show was dedicated to discussing the war in Syria.

After whistleblower Edward Snowden came forward to announce the depths of the National Security Agency's spying on Americans through every major Internet platform available, companies like Facebook and Google have been scrambling to release data on how many users' accounts were officially tapped into by the government.

When Facebook shared their numbers, they gave an estimate of 18,000 to 19,000 accounts that were involved in the last six months alone. Facebook was not allowed to give any further specifics beyond that estimate, but the company's lawyer Ted Ullyot said Facebook wanted to reassure everyone that only "a tiny fraction of one percent" of its over a billion users were affected by the government's data requests.

Oh good.

Microsoft also revealed that it received requests on 31,000 accounts in the last half of 2012 alone. Google is still working out its deal with the government on what the government will allow Google to tell us.

So there you go. No big deal, right? It was only like 50,000 people who officially had their privacy violated (and the numbers are just getting bigger by the day). No word yet on how many people's emails, texts, videos, pictures, voice chats and more was culled directly from servers who didn't even do anything wrong accept to go online.

The Independent reported:

"Google, Facebook and Microsoft have contradicted reports about 'direct access' to their servers, and it now appears that at least some of the companies allowed neither government-controlled equipment on their property nor direct searches without company employees vetting each inquiry." In November 1999, U.S. President Bill Clinton signed into law the Gramm--Leach--Bliley Act, which repealed part of the Glass--Steagall Act of 1933. This repeal has been criticized for reducing the separation between commercial banks (which traditionally had fiscally conservative policies) and investment banks (which had a more risk-taking culture).[89][90] However, the vast majority of failures were at institutions that were created by Glass-Steagall.[91]
In 2004, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission relaxed the net capital rule, which enabled investment banks to substantially increase the level of debt they were taking on, fueling the growth in mortgage-backed securities supporting subprime mortgages. The SEC has conceded that self-regulation of investment banks contributed to the crisis.[92][93]
Financial institutions in the shadow banking system are not subject to the same regulation as depository banks, allowing them to assume additional debt obligations relative to their financial cushion or capital base.[94] This was the case despite the Long-Term Capital Management debacle in 1998, where a highly leveraged shadow institution failed with systemic implications.
Regulators and accounting standard-setters allowed depository banks such as Citigroup to move significant amounts of assets and liabilities off-balance sheet into complex legal entities called structured investment vehicles, masking the weakness of the capital base of the firm or degree of leverage or risk taken. One news agency estimated that the top four U.S. banks will have to return between $500 billion and $1 trillion to their balance sheets during 2009.[95] This increased uncertainty during the crisis regarding the financial position of the major banks.[96] Off-balance sheet entities were also used by Enron as part of the scandal that brought down that company in 2001.[97]
As early as 1997, Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan fought to keep the derivatives market unregulated.[98] With the advice of the President's Working Group on Financial Markets,[99] the U.S. Congress and President allowed the self-regulation of the over-the-counter derivatives market when they enacted the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000. Derivatives such as credit default swaps (CDS) can be used to hedge or speculate against particular credit risks. The volume of CDS outstanding increased 100-fold from 1998 to 2008, with estimates of the debt covered by CDS contracts, as of November 2008, ranging from US$33 to $47 trillion. Total over-the-counter (OTC) derivative notional value rose to $683 trillion by June 2008.[100] Warren Buffett famously referred to derivatives as "financial weapons of mass destruction" in early 2003.[101][102]

Dumas is a retired French foreign minister who is obliged to use discretion when revealing secrets which could affect French foreign policy. That is why he made the statement 'I am French, that doesn't interest me'. He could not reveal France's role in the British plan as he would be exposing himself to prosecution for revealing state secrets.

The United States will attempt to get militarily involved in any conflict in the Middle East due to financial profits of war, a political analyst told Press TV's U.S. Desk on Saturday.

"Any way they can get involved with any kind of military intervention in the Middle East, they will do it. The United States will do that because it's all about the profits of war and keeping it going," Al Kovnat said.

"War is a big business. Military intervention is a big business and they have an awful lot of lobbyists in Washington pushing for this [war]," he added.

The analyst made the remarks after Washington authorized sending weapons to militants in Syria. U.S. officials said the White House is also considering a no-fly zone inside the country.

"Hopefully the people will realize that they have to stop this because the money is not coming into this country for education or for healthcare for their own people. It's going over just to make money for the big military operations and the corporate military people," Kovnat said.

The Obama administration's preparation for a military intervention in Syria comes despite the public's opposition to the war in the Middle Eastern country.

A poll conducted by Gallup last month showed that 68 percent of Americans said the United States should not take any military action against Syria.




Ben Rhodes, the White House national security advisor behind the claim that President Bashar Al-Assad used chemical weapons in Syria, is a fiction writer with zero educational background in government, diplomacy or national security who also played a key role in covering up the truth behind the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi.

Yesterday, Rhodes announced that the White House had "high confidence" that the Syrian Army had used chemical weapons, providing no evidence, and that the Obama administration would now take steps to arm FSA rebels, who as has been widely documented are being led by Al-Qaeda terrorists who killed U.S. troops in Iraq. The Wall Street Journal also reports that a no fly zone is being prepared that would embroil the United States in yet another war.

35-year-old Rhodes has been a speechwriter for Obama since 2007 and now enjoys the role of deputy national security adviser for strategic communication. He created the infamous term "kinetic military action" to describe the bombardment of Libya which allowed Obama to skirt around the constitutional question of having to declare war.

Rhodes' expertise revolves around manufacturing narratives. "He earned a master's degree in fiction-writing from New York University just a few years ago," writes Ed Lansky. "He did not have a degree in government, diplomacy, national security; nor has he served in the CIA, or the military. He was toiling away not that long ago on a novel called 'The Oasis of Love" about a mega church in Houston, a dog track, and a failed romance."
 As Stephen Hayes documents in a lengthy Weekly Standard piece, Rhodes was instrumental in altering CIA talking points to delete references to Islamic terrorists being involved in the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, setting the foundation for the Obama administration's cover-up of the incident by claiming the siege was a demonstration against an anti-Muslim film. This was an attempt to hide the fact that the White House had supported Al-Qaeda terrorists in the overthrow of Gaddafi, just as they are now doing in Syria.

Syrian Funded Rebels are Simply Murder Tools for US and Western Governments to Oust Assad – By Jason Liosatos

US and Western Governments are stepping up the arming and funding of Syrian rebels, and Al Qaeda, to do the dirty job of ousting President Assad for them. The US says Assad has crossed a red line using chemical weapons which is the same trick they pulled on Saddam with the Iraq crimes against humanity. Arming and funding Al Qaeda and the rebels is still an act of murder by aiding and abetting, by getting someone else to do the killing for you, and it is cheaper, less messy and easier than doing it themselves, with no casualties in the US and Western military, no soldiers coffins coming home, and no public outcry, and not a splash of blood on their hands.

A similar tactic was used in ousting Gaddafi in Libya, but they have now realized that it is much better to just stand back and pay others to do the fighting and killing for them, then when Assad has been toppled like Gaddafi they simply step in as the liberators and bringers of the pseudo democracy, and help themselves to the treasure of oil, strategic positioning, and the final step closer to the big, long awaited goal of toppling Iran. Prime Minister Assad of course is no angel, it is true, but if we look at the figures of his war crimes against humanity, they pale in comparison to a Bush or a Blair, and currently a Cameron, Hollande and Obama catching up quickly, who are racking up the deaths and destruction at quite a pace in Mali, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

If any member of the public gave someone else a gun and pointed that person and that gun towards a victim who they then killed, the giver of that gun would immediately be sentenced to murder for aiding and abetting. Even worse is the fact that the Syrian rebels are often simply gangs of angry youths hell bent on enjoying the sudden gift of power and control that a machine gun or rocket launcher can bring. The Saudis are also doing their part in arming the angry gangs, and we are seeing the usual horrendous ethical compromises taking place, with civilian casualties growing every day.

For a moment let us imagine what would would happen if the disillusioned American people rose up against Obama, as have the Syrians against Assad, and also demanded Obama leave, as did the Egyptians and the Libyans, do we really think Obama would pack his bags and give the people the keys to the White House? And if the American people rose up and ‘rebelled’ and went to the streets like the Syrian rebels Obama would also order the police and troops to use force to quell the uprisings, and if they persisted Obama like Assad would also order the police and troops to shoot people if necessary. It is easy to forget that The US and Western governments would be as equally brutal against its population in an uprising, this is a big shock for people to imagine but it is true.

Now imagine in that same scenario, Syria or another country funding and arming the American people to help get Obama out, to achieve their interests in the region, the very possibility sounds absurd, which shockingly proves to us as Western and US citizens how superior we believe we are, and that we would never imagine our governments turning on us to crush us if we were to dare to seriously confront them and demand their exit from our lives. One of the biggest shocks for Americans is this truth, that their government, and UK, French and most others worldwide would ultimately kill its uprising population, like Assad, if that population seriously challenged them. Just a cursory glance back at the occupy movement gives us a taste of this, and if one gun had gone off from the public, then we would have seen the above scenario begin.

The defining moment would come as to whether the police or military would kill its own people. I am not advocating this horrible scenario, or saying it may ever happen, but I am simply placing the shoe on the other foot for us to see the situation from another perspective, and that perspective glaringly shows us that the white man still cannot see past his own superiority, like camels that can only see other camels humps and not their own. Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.) appeared on CSPAN and said the revelations made public dealing with the National Security Agency's (NSA) surveillance program is "Just the tip of the iceberg."

As The Hill reports, Sanchez says she learned "significantly more" after attending a briefing Tuesday with counterterrorism officials.

"What we learned in there is significantly more than what is out in the media today," Sanchez commented. "I can't speak to what we learned in there, and I don't know if there are other leaks, if there's more information somewhere, if somebody else is going to step up, but I will tell you that I believe it's the tip of the iceberg."
