Gold rose to a six-month high on Thursday as fears of economic slowdown in China and lingering worries about Russia's standoff with Ukraine over Crimea dampened demand for riskier assets and boosted bullion's appeal.

U.S. equities and copper pries tumbled after data showed China's economy slowed markedly in the first two months of the year. Worries over China's first bond default and weak export data earlier in the week have also stoked concerns about the health of the world's second-largest economy.

Gold was also underpinned after Russia launched military exercises near its border with Ukraine, showing no sign of backing down in its plans to annex its neighbor's Crimea region.

Within the first week of 2014 U.K.'s Royal Mint announced they had completely sold out of sovereign gold coins. On the other side of the pond, the U.S. Mint reports that the sale of silver coins hit an all-time high at the end of 2013, proving that demand for physical precious metals has not abated.
Gold prices will likely explode in the future because current prices are too low for mines to operate, lowering the supply.

Yet, as investors the world over buy up as much physical gold as they can get their hands on, the companies that produce the gold have seen their stock prices decimated. Whether it's the work of the shadow banking system or because Wall Street has convinced Main Street to dump their shares, precious metals have seen a significant drop from their historical highs just a couple years ago.

The subject video covers an undercovered story on the missing German gold. Back in the 1950′s Germany, along with several other nations sent their gold to the U.S. Federal Reserve. Several months ago, Germany asked that some of their gold be returned. The Fed refused. Germany then asked to inspect the gold. Again the Fed refused.

So what would you think? I would think they don't have it. I would suspect they stole it. Of course those in Germany and other nations aren't stupid. If there are any shenanigans going on, some in positions of power in those nations have to be in on it. Now, with at least 20 years of manipulation in the gold and silver markets, the chickens are coming home to roost. You can't do this forever and you can't keep it a secret forever.

But convincing the Bundebsbank to demand delivery was peanuts compared to changing the tune of the Financial Times -- that bastion of fiat "money", and where the word gold is mocked and ridiculed, and those who see the daily improprieties in the gold market as nothing but "conspiracy theorists" -- to say the magic words: "Learn from Buba and demand delivery for true price of gold", adding that "one day the ties that bind this pixelated gold may break, with potentially catastrophic results."

RED ALERT -- ISIS steals 40 kg of nuclear materials from Mosul university

Terrorist groups have gained control of nuclear materials used for scientific research at a university in northern Iraq. Iraq's ambassador to the UN Mohamed Ali Alhakim says approximately forty kilograms of uranium has been stolen from Mosul University. Alhakim has pleaded for help from the U-N in a letter directed to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. He says it is feared that the stolen materials could be smuggled out of Iraq. The nuclear materials are not believed to be enriched uranium, making it difficult for them to be turned into weapons. On Wednesday, Iraq alerted the UN that armed ISIL insurgents captured a former chemical weapons facility located north of Baghdad.

Few economic analysts truly understand the underlying fundamentals of the global economy and their impact on the workings of the world. It will give the government a new leg, and if they can base it on something like gold it will, both, be very bullish for gold and create new confidence. If they create a new paper system like the old paper system it'll die just like a Banana republic [like] Argentina about every ten years later. With that... I am saying in my lifetime we'll see the demise of the dollar and certainly before that we'll see gold at $10,000 an ounce.
Since 2006, the US dollar has experienced a one-quarter to one-third drop in value to the Chinese yuan, depending on the choice of base.

Now China is going to let the dollar decline further in value. China also says it is considering undermining the petrodollar by pricing oil futures on the Shanghai Futures Exchange in yuan. This on top of the growing avoidance of the dollar to settle trade imbalances means that the dollar's role as reserve currency is coming to an end, which means the termination of the US as financial bully and financial imperialist. This blow to the dollar in addition to the blows delivered by jobs offshoring and the uncovered bets in the gambling casino created by financial deregulation means that the US economy as we knew it is coming to an end.

As the dollar enters its death throes, the lawless Federal Reserve and the Wall Street criminals will increase their shorting of gold in the paper futures market, thereby driving the remnants of the West's gold into Asian hands.

Breaking News -- ISIS seizes Nuclear Materials from a university In Northern Iraq 7/9/14

Iraq says "terrorist groups" have seized nuclear materials used for scientific research at a university in the country's north. Iraq's UN envoy has appealed for help to "stave off the threat of their use by terrorists in Iraq or abroad."

According to Iraq's UN ambassador, Mohamed Ali Alhakim, about 40 kilograms of uranium compounds were kept at Mosul University. He added that such materials "can be used in manufacturing weapons of mass destruction."

"Terrorist groups have seized control of nuclear material at the sites that came out of the control of the state," Alhakim told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in the July 8 letter obtained by Reuters on Wednesday.

Alhakim warned that the materials could be smuggled out of Iraq.

The stolen materials are not believed to be enriched uranium, which would make it difficult for them to be made into weapons, a government source told Reuters.

"The Republic of Iraq is notifying the international community of these dangerous developments and asking for help and the needed support to stave off the threat of their use by terrorists in Iraq or abroad," Alhakim said in a letter.

Iraq acceded to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material on Monday, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Members of the convention agree to protect nuclear facilities and material to be used for peaceful domestic use, storage, and transport.

"It also provides for expanded cooperation between and among states regarding rapid measures to locate and recover stolen or smuggled nuclear material, mitigate any radiological consequences of sabotage, and prevent and combat related offences," the IAEA stated.

The report comes just one day after Iraq told the UN that insurgents took control of a former chemical weapons facility located north of Baghdad. Alhakim said in a letter to the UN that "armed terrorist groups" took over the Muthanna complex on June 11. The facility holds the remnants of a former chemical weapons program.

In his letter to the UN chief, which was made public on Tuesday, Alhakim also pleaded for help from the international community. "The Government of Iraq requests the States Members of the United Nations to understand the current inability of Iraq, owing to the deterioration of the security situation, to fulfill its obligations to destroy chemical weapons," he said.

Now with nearly all that behind us, and the new laws in place, mortgages are very much more difficult to obtain. Why? On top of the higher qualifying standards, the Fed is incentivizing bankers to keep excessive reserves above a set threshold. The Federal Reserve has been paying banks 25 basis points or ¼ of one percent on these excess reserves. The government paid out over $4 billion to banks in 2012 under this program. If rates go up these payments could raise to a level many times this amount. Is this a subsidy for banks and a disincentive to lend? Are banks right in back in the business of high stakes leveraging and casino risk taking?

HuffPost submitted the FOIA request when there was increased speculation about the use of the platinum coin option ahead of the debt ceiling crisis this fall. Under the compromise reached between the House and Senate following the government shutdown, the U.S. will hit the debt ceiling once again on Feb. 7, though the Treasury can use extraordinary measures to extend that deadline.

Supporters of the platinum coin option say that under a 1996 law allowing the Treasury Department to mint a platinum coin in any denomination, the president could order the manufacture of, say, a $1 trillion coin that would be deposited in the Federal Reserve. The Treasury Department would then use the platinum coin funds to meet government obligations without the need for Congress to grant any additional spending powers.

By 2013 governments around the world, including the European Parliament, considered Wahhabism the primary source of Islamic terrorism.
California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein is calling for the U.S. military to attack ISIS in Iraq. She has also said the besieged country's current leader, Nouri al-Maliki, needs to step down.

"I think most important is that we take direct action now against ISIS, marching down to Baghdad, and prevent them from getting into Baghdad," said Feinstein, who is the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Feinstein believes a "reconciliation" government needs to replace al-Maliki, who was approved by the Iraqi government for a second term as president in December, 2010.

"I think it's most important that the Maliki government be replaced, and that includes Mr. Maliki with a reconciliation government," she said. "Based on all I've heard, read and know, Mr. Maliki is not able to bring about reconciliation in that country."

Crude-oil prices edged higher on Wednesday, with the U.S. benchmark pushing back toward $107 a barrel after militants in Iraq attacked the country's biggest oil refinery, underlining worries about potential threats to export facilities in the south.

Michael Rivero is the webmaster of http://whatreallyhappened.com/ and host of the What Really Happened radio shows on the Republic Broadcasting Network. Formerly with NASA, Michael transitioned his image processing skills (along with a brief stint as an actor) into the then-new motion picture computer animation field and has worked on films such as "Star Trek", "The Day After Tomorrow", and has supervised visual effects on "Brainscan," "LOST", and "Hawaii Five-0." Michael has taken a sabbatical from film work to focus all his efforts on peace activism. Michaels foray into blogging began before the word was even invented, and happened almost by accident when he spotted a suspicious photograph being broadcast on ABC news in 1994 related to the death of White House deputy Council Vincent Foster. Since that sudden beginning, Michaels website has expanded to cover diverse topics including the JFK assassination, the accidental shoot-down of TWA 800, election fraud, health issues, Saddams non-existent nuclear weapons, 9-11, the economy, and of course, the lies used to trick the United States into wars of conquest on Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Iran. Michael resides in Hawaii with his wife Claire, who is a composer and creates much of theme music used on the What Really Happened radio show.
