Former Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Sha Zukang has warned that the dispute between Japan and China over the Senkaku Islands could lead to World War III. Sha Zukang (YouTube).
Citing a Chinese-language piece written by Zukang for the the pro-regime Global Times, a report in the China Times says that Zukang warned of the futility of going to war over "those two tiny rocks," a reference to the disputed islands which have become the center of a geopolitical tug of war between China and Japan, with the United States and South Korea also becoming embroiled.
"If China started a war with Japan, it would be much larger than both the Sino-Japanese War and World War II, said Sha. The United States and Japan should cooperate with China to maintain regional peace," states the report.
Zukang's rhetoric sounds somewhat alarmist but it is not that different in tone from sober analysts such as Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, who warned that the escalating crisis represents a "watershed moment for the world" and means "Asia is on the cusp of a full-blown arms race."

In many ways, it is just like 2007 all over again. There were many people that could see what was about to happen and were doing all they could to warn people, but most did not listen. And then the great financial crisis of 2008 struck and millions of people lost their jobs and their homes. Unfortunately, the next great wave of the economic collapse is going to be even more painful than the last one. It is imperative that people get prepared for what is on the horizon, but for the most part it is just not happening.

Israeli forces fired tear gas to disperse the angry protesters. Meanwhile, there have also been clashes in three mainly Arab towns in the northeast and center of Israel. The confrontations follow the funeral of the 16-year-old Palestinian whose burned body was found in a forest on Wednesday. Palestinians say the boy was killed by Israeli settlers. The attack came a few days after the bodies of three Israeli teenagers were found in a West Bank field. Tel Aviv blames Hamas for the incident. But the Palestinian resistance movement denies any involvement.

In a Friday sermon in Mosul on July 4, 2014, ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi called on Muslims to wage Jihad for the sake of Allah, saying that there was "reward, honor, elevation, and glory" in Jihad "in this world and the Hereafter." Al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed "Caliph of the Islamic State," said: "I was put to the test by this heavy responsibility with which I was entrusted."

Oh Muslims, the arrival of the month of Ramadhan is a great blessing and grace granted by Allah. It is a month that begins with mercy, continues with atonement, and concludes with salvation from the Hellfire.

It is a month in which the marketplace of Jihad opens. In this month, the Prophet Muhammad would prepare the brigades, and would mobilize the armies, in order to fight the enemies of Allah and to wage Jihad against the polytheists.
So seize this blessed month, oh servants of Allah, to perform acts of obedience to Allah, for your reward is doubled in this month. [Allah said]: "So for this let the competitors compete" [Quran 83:26].
Oh Muslims, Allah created us so that we would worship Him alone and establish His religion. Allah said: "I only created the jinn and Mankind that they would worship Me" [Quran 51:56].
Allah commanded us to fight His enemies and to wage Jihad for His sake, in order to achieve this purpose and to establish His religion. Allah said: "Fighting is ordained for you, although it is hateful to you" [Quran 2:216]. Allah also said: "Fight them until there is no more strife, and religion is for Allah alone" [Quran 2:193].
Oh people, the religion of Allah will not be established, and the purpose for which Allah created us will not be achieved, unless the law of Allah is instated and observed, and unless the Islamic punishments are implemented. This can be accomplished only through power and might.

This is the foundation of Islam: A book of guidance and a sword that defends it. Allah has bestowed victories and conquests upon your brothers, the mujahideen. After long years of Jihad and perseverance, fighting the enemies of Allah, Allah has enabled them to accomplish their goal.
Thus, they hastened to declare the establishment of their Caliphate and the appointment of an imam. This is a duty incumbent upon the Muslims – a duty that was neglected for centuries and was not implemented. Many Muslims were ignorant of this duty. Muslims who ignore this duty are committing a sin. They must always strive to carry out this duty.
Lo and behold, they have now carried out this duty, blessings and gratitude be to Allah.
I was put to the test by this heavy responsibility with which I was entrusted. I have been appointed your wali, yet I am not the best among you, nor am I better than you. If you see that I am right, assist me, and if you see that I err, advise me and set me back on the right track. Obey me as long as I obey Allah, but if I disobey Allah, you are not obliged to obey me.
I shall not promise you what kings and rulers promise their subjects – a life of luxury, tranquility, security, and comfort. I shall promise you what Allah promised His believing servants: "Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will make them rulers on the land, as He made those before them rulers. He will instate for them their religion, which He has chosen for them. He will replace their fear with security. They shall worship Me, not associating anything with Me. Whoever disbelieves henceforth – these are the sinners" [Quran 24:55].

If you want what Allah has promised, wage Jihad for His sake, incite the believers, and persevere through these hardships. If only you knew what reward, honor, elevation, and glory there is in Jihad – in this world and in the Hereafter – none of you would be remiss in setting out to wage Jihad.

Poll: Majority of Americans blame Bush for Iraq violence
A majority of Americans blame the recent surge of violence in Iraq on former US President George W. Bush.
According to a Quinnipiac University poll, more than 51 percent of the registered voters blamed the Bush-era foreign policies for the current turmoil in Iraq. Sixty-one percent of those polled said the 2003 war in Iraq was the wrong thing to do. A majority of voters also disapprove of the way President Barack Obama is handling the bloodshed perpetrated by ISIL Takfiri terrorists in Iraq. Fifty-eight percent of the voters said Obama's decision to withdraw American forces from Iraq in 2011 was the right decision. However, they warned against any fresh troop deployment, saying it's not in the best US interest to get involved in Iraq again.

The president made the remark after a reporter asked him if former challenger Mitt Romney was correct in his assertion that Russia is once again the primary foe of the United States following Crimeans voting to rejoin Russia.
"Russia's actions are a problem. They don't pose the No. 1 national security threat to the United States. I continue to be much more concerned when it comes to our security with the prospect of a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan," Obama said.
Obama did not elaborate on the threat.
The previous December South Korea, for obvious reasons, said North Korea had developed the technology capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to the West Coast of the United States. Experts, however, said at the time the hereditary communist state is years away from miniaturizing a nuclear weapon and mounting it on a ballistic missile.
California is approximately 3,000 miles from Manhattan. In order to nuke New York, the North Koreans would require a missile capable of traveling around 9,000 miles.
