Secret Trade Deal Bad for US, More Troops to Iraq, Obama Care In Trouble?

 Congressman Paul Ryan says “We the People” do not get to know the secret details until Congress votes them through. On the trade packages in Asia and Europe, Ryan said, “It’s declassified and made public once it’s agreed to.” Is this his Republican version of the Nancy Pelosi “We have to vote for it to see what’s in it”? You know it’s a bad deal for everyday Americans when this sort of trade deal is opposed by Democrats such as Senator Elizabeth Warren and Republican Congressmen Duncan Hunter. Looks like the President is going to send another 450 troops to train Iraqis to fight ISIS. Listen, the Obama Administration is not serious. Months ago, a top military expert said in order to kick ISIS out of Iraq, there would need to be 80,000 well trained troops. 450 is drop in the bucket.

In the here-we go-again file, here is a headline that reads “Job Openings Jump to Record.” I called economist John Williams, and his first comment was “nonsense.” Williams told me they count each new job opening multiple times. He also says that when you drill down, the majority of jobs are part-time or 29 hour a week jobs. Thank you Obama care.

Speaking of Obama Care, it is looking like the Supreme Court is going to rule against the Obama Administration on subsidies for more than 30 states. People were only supposed to get them if they set up an exchange, and 34 states did NOT set up an exchange. This could end Obama Care, or at least severely limit it.

In the first half, bestselling author Ben Mezrich discussed playing blackjack and counting cards in casinos with the infamous MIT students (the basis for the hit movie 21), how he came to write about the origins of Facebook, and his latest work on the mega-wealthy Russian oligarchs, who put Putin in power, and how Putin turned on them. A group of ambitious men made incredible amounts of money in Russia in the 1990s in a kind of Wild West scenario, in the wake of communism's fall, as thousands of other businessmen were getting murdered left and right, he reported. At one point, just seven men owned 50% of Russia's GDP, Mezrich marveled.

The rise of the oligarchs occurred when Putin's predecessor Boris Yeltsin, who feared the return of communism, sought to quickly privatize all the resources that were once owned by the state, such as gas and aluminum companies, Mezrich explained. Regarding his book about Facebook-- "The Accidental Billionaires," (which served as basis for the film The Social Network), he described meeting Mark Zuckerberg's former partner Eduardo Saverin, before the story about their falling out/dispute was publicly known. Mezrich also shared a blackjack card counting technique which involves subtracting and adding single points for smaller and higher cards that are dealt out, and modulating one's bets accordingly.

In the latter half, investigative journalist and author of "The True Story of the Bilderberg Group," Daniel Estulin, talked about the current meeting of the Biderberg Group taking place in Austria this week. The group of global elite at the secretive meeting includes CEOs and politicians, and has a particularly powerful roster of individuals this year, along with higher levels of security surrounding the conference, Estulin noted. Groups like the Bilderbergs and the CFR seek to consolidate power under a central government, he said.

Cybersecurity, nanotechnology, and transhumanism are among the topics the Bilderberg group is addressing this year. The spectacular rise in technological advances will soon transform the very nature of humanity itself, Estulin remarked. The children alive now are surely the last generation of 100% humans, he commented, and "their children are going to be transhuman, post-human, nano-machines, and cyborgs,"-- the result of the amazing revolution in synthetic biology, which is advancing exponentially. Such technologies will be used by elite groups like the Bilderbergs to control humanity, he cautioned.

WHITE HOUSE EVACUATED - Parts of White House Evacuated after Telephone Bomb Threats

 
Parts of the White House and a Senate office building were evacuated on Tuesday after telephone bomb threats.

The White House press briefing room was evacuated just a few hours after parts of the Senate's Dirksen office building were emptied by security guards. No threats were found at the US congressional complex, and an "all clear" has been declared at the White House.

The live televised White House briefing was in progress when security agents asked attendees to leave the building. Upon resuming the briefing, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said a bomb threat was made against the briefing room in a phone call made to the Washington Metropolitan Police Department.

A Secret Service spokesman said the evacuation was "limited to the White House Briefing Room and does not affect any other sections of the White House". Cameras were left running after the evacuation and agents could be seen directing bomb-sniffing dogs through the room. After members of the press were evacuated, Secret Service agents and K9 units did a sweep of the briefing room, and found nothing suspicious. During this sweep, all live network cameras were turned to the ceiling, or floor, or covered completely with newspaper. West Wing of the White House. Notwithstanding claims of being the most transparent administration ever, the White House now says that an executive branch office is exempt from United States Freedom of Information Act requests effective immediately.
As of Tuesday, the Office of Administration will no longer have to heed FOIA requests — the likes of which had for decades helped explain the inner workings of White House functions — according to a notice published in the Federal Register this week. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said it “boggles the mind” that the White House has not yet released the text of trade deal it’s pushing, known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership TPP The office of the presidency was greatly strengthened under previous administrations, but now Barack Obama has grabbed an unprecedented amount of power for himself. In this article, I am going to focus on immigration, but Obama’s power grab is certainly not limited to this area. And as I have written aboutpreviously, if there is some sort of major “national emergency” over the next year or so, the legal framework has already been created for Obama to use his “emergency powers” to take total control of virtually everything. So is comparing Obama to the pharoahs of ancient Egypt unfair? I don’t think so at all. He is certainly acting as if he would like the powers of a dictator, his policies in the Middle East would make the pharoahs proud, and without a doubt Obama loves the adoration and worship of his fans. JOHN EMBRY
John Embry joined SAM as Chief Investment Strategist in March 2003, with a focus on the Sprott Gold and Precious Minerals Fund. He plays an instrumental role in the corporate and investment policy of the firm. Mr. Embry, an industry expert in precious metals, has researched the gold sector for over thirty years and has accumulated industry experience as a portfolio management specialist since 1963.
After graduating from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, John Embry began his investment career as a stock selection analyst and Portfolio Manager at Great West Life. He then became Vice President of Pension Investments for the entire firm. After 23 years with the company, John became partner with United Bond and Share, the investment counseling firm acquired by Royal Bank in 1987. John was named Vice-President, Equities and Portfolio Manager at RBC Global Investment Management, a $33 billion organization where he oversaw $5 billion in assets, including the flagship $2.9 billion Royal Canadian Equity Fund and the $250 million Royal Precious Metals Fund, the #1 ranked fund across the country for its 2002 net performance of 153%.

 The Secure the Grid Coalition is an ad hoc group of policy, energy, and national security experts, legislators, and industry insiders who are dedicated to strengthening America’s electrical grid. The Coalition aims to raise awareness to the threat of EMP as well as pass legislation to strengthen the grid. Advocates for strengthening the grid, Peter Pry (first hour), Michael Maloof (second hour), and William Forstchen (hours 3 + 4) discussed the progress being made to protect the US power grid from catastrophic failure, and the dire consequences if we don't.

There has been congressional interest in legislation to protect the grid, such as the Grid Act of 2010, which passed the House with strong bipartisan support. "But Washington is so broken," said Pry, that if the electric power lobby can find one single senator they can control, "they can put a hold on a bill, and they don't even have to take public responsibility for it-- they can do it anonymously. That's what happened to the Grid Act in 2010." Recent cyber attacks on the American government are testing how the US will react, and probing the country's defenses-- such attacks could set the stage for an EMP or cyber attack by a country such as North Korea that could damage our grid, he warned.

An EMP, which is a high energy burst of electromagnetic energy, could be released by a nuclear weapon detonated high in the atmosphere, and might completely knock out or fry any unprotected electrical system, as well as crucial automatic control systems, Maloof explained. In the event of a long term grid shutdown, there would be a cascade of catastrophic events that would sweep across the country, wiping out urban centers, with nine out of 10 people dying within the first year, he reported. Maloof noted that 2013's Shield Act would implement protection of the electrical infrastructure, but it's stalled in a House committee chaired by Michigan Representative Fred Upton.

Forstchen observed that a powerful solar flare, such as 1859's Carrington Event, in which telegraph lines actually caught on fire, is going to hit us sooner or later. A major solar event, in contrast to an EMP attack, would impact the entire planet, and the subsequent power losses would lead to curtailed food and water supplies, the outbreak of disease, and the breakdown of society, he outlined. With solar flares, there'll be some advance warning, but with an EMP attack, there would be sudden drastic effects, such as all planes within range of the detonation, immediately falling out of the sky, he cautioned. Forstchen advised being prepared to survive on your own for three to six months, as well as working within communities, and on the state level. Maine, he pointed out, has passed their own bill that requires the state to start upgrading its power grid.
