Using "expedited procedures" the Federal Reserve Board of Governors held an impromptu (read emergency) meeting yesterday to discuss monetary policy and interest rates. Afterwards Chairwoman Yellen visited the White House for another irregular meeting with the President. Both of these meetings were closed door and both went largely unreported by the mainstream media. Unfortunately we don't know exactly what was said in those meetings, but we do know it is highly unusual for the Fed to invoke "expedited procedures." Her eye-popping revelations confirm some of the worst fears of unrestricted Muslim immigration into the United States. “Hey the_donald, I'm a 19 year old girl living in America with Muslim immigrant parents. Until yesterday, I had not once removed my Hajib in my life while outside. I tried to do it once when I was 10 years old, and my parents grounded me for a week. “Let me tell you something right now, there are no "moderate muslims". There are no "assimilated muslims". Throughout my life, I have been to three different mosques regularly. Everyone there had some kind of animosity to America. Either they support jihadist actions outright or they refuse to condemn them, or they victim blame Christians and the West. “The last time I went to service at my mosque was right after the Brussels attack. Panama Papers: A media disinformation campaign?
Called the "biggest leak in the history of data journalism" by Edward Snowden, the Panama Papers has rocked the world in the last few days exposing how the rich and powerful use tax havens to hide their wealth. The papers - some 11.5 million documents in all - have revealed how Mossack Fonseca, a Panama-based law firm, allegedly helped current and former world leaders, as well as businessmen, criminals, celebrities and sports stars, evade or avoid tax via anonymously owned shell companies and offshore accounts. In terms of the size of the leak and the scale of the journalistic collaboration, the story has garnered wall-to-wall coverage and dominated the front pages of newspapers across the world. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalism, a non-profit group in the US, coordinated the reporting with 376 journalists from 109 news organisations and 76 countries poring over the files. Such multi-newsroom collaborations are growing more common in an age of big data leaks, partly because newsrooms are shrinking while the influential players they are trying to hold accountable are growing in size, power and complexity. But despite the success of the collaboration, the select group of media organisations that had access to the data have been criticised for how they tackled the story. One of the main criticisms has been the way they went after wealthy business figures and some political leaders while largely shying away from the corporate side of the story that has enabled trillions of dollars, euros, pounds and rubles to be hidden offshore. This has in turn raised a larger question: can the corporate-owned news media really be expected to hold the corporate world to account? Money evil? Nope. How else would you propose we decide who gets prime real estate? There are only 5 options and only one makes any sense - and that's money. Other options: Strongest bully with most guns gets it, lottery (ridiculous), committee (aka, those on the committee get the good stuff) or we all share it like a park (which only delays the decision because we've moved the 'prime' real estate back from the ocean just a bit). The only other options? We either live as wandering nomads who die young, or the BEST idea yet...we use currency. MONEY (aka certificates of appreciation given to you freely from those you served well) is a great solution. Sure, some will steal it (punish them), but we must reward those EARNING money by SERVING others (aka giving them things they WANT and NEED) which raises the standard of living for all of us - which is why we aren't all dying toothless at the age of 35 like we did 150 years ago. No young ignorant friends...The biggest lie isn't the "free market system" that has improved the lives of millions helping us live better than kings did 100 years ago - no, the biggest lie is that we are running out of resources. We just aren't. We are discovering and improving our use of new resources constantly. This is ACTUAL human history - not the progressive lies that have no historical record of success. Study history. Take note of what systems improved the planet and the lives of millions and what systems eliminated millions brutally while destroying the landscape. The evidence is right under your nose. There are more trees in N. America NOW than there were 200 years ago (we can stop forrest fires now). All 7 billion of us could live in Texas comfortably with existing technology. We have unlimited water thanks to filtration and desalination technology...and the list goes on. These are the facts - time to grow up. Still think "tech" is evil? Live without it for six months (if you can), and then come tell us about it on youtube using your electricity powered cell phone...
