George Knapp was joined, in the first hour, by Academy Award nominated director James Spione, who discussed his film Silenced, which deals with Washington's increasingly draconian response to whistleblowers, and the devastating personal toll on those who've questioned official national security policy. Two of the three whistleblowers highlighted in the film, John Kiriakou and Thomas Drake, later joined the program to share their experiences and reflect on how their lives were affected once they found themselves in the crosshairs of a vindictive federal government.
Spione observed that the climate of fear and security that has enveloped the United States since 9/11 has given way to a situation where whistleblowers are "not just persecuted, they're prosecuted to an unprecedented degree." Compounding this troubling issue, he said, is that the whistleblowers who seem to draw the most vociferous response of the government do so because they reveal information which challenges official policy or exposes criminality. He also noted that prosecution of whistleblowers under the Espionage Act has increased significantly under the Obama administration, which has invoked the law "more times that all other administrations combined in the last 100 years." Ironically, Spione mused, this tenacious approach has led to new whistleblowers taking extreme measures to release information, such as in the case of Edward Snowden, who fled the country in order to be heard.
During the next 90 minutes, former CIA counterterrorism officer John Kiriakou detailed his harrowing experience being prosecuted as a whistleblower. He explained that the ordeal began after he appeared on ABC News and revealed that the CIA not only had a torture program but that it was sanctioned by the president. This, he said, led to intense scrutiny by the government that culminated with him being charged with multiple felonies which would have sent him to prison for decades. Despite a deep desire to fight these charges in court, Kiriakou lamented that the government strategy in these instances is to overwhelm defendants with a massive amount of charges in the hopes of obtaining a plea deal. As such, he ultimately opted to accept such a deal for lesser charges in order to spare his family from the crippling debt which would arise from a lengthy court battle.
In the final 90 minutes of the program, former NSA official Thomas Drake reflected on his battle with the government after he spoke out about the agency's illegal spying program. Drake lambasted critics who say that whistleblowers should simply use official channels to report wrongdoing, stressing that he attempted this tactic numerous times only to receive no response. Eventually, after speaking with the media about his concerns, he was charged with ten felonies under the Espionage Act, saw himself portrayed as a traitor by the press, and left with no means of employment. He speculated, since his case occurred in 2010 and predated high profile whistleblowers like Kiriakou, Snowden and Chelsea Manning, that the immense government response to his actions was aimed at making an example of him and creating a chilling effect to dissuade others from speaking out about institutionalized wrongdoing that they had witnessed.

The political events of the past several years are pointing inexorably towards the formation of some sort of world government. This was made even more clear as most world leaders gathered at the United Nations for the September 28th Tetrad blood moon 70th UN anniversary appeared to be, with a few quibbles, mostly reading from the same script.
There is now a consensus among world leaders that world government is the only way to prevent corporate crime syndicates from murdering and plundering this planet into destruction. The battle now is over what sort of government that will be.
The Nazionists are still pushing for a totalitarian, fascist new world order controlled by the same old bloodlines. The White Dragon Society and its allies are insisting that it be more like a benevolent council of village elders. The illuminati, the Pentagon and the Italian P2 lodge are, for their part, offering a third alternative, which they call a Star Trek future. This vision is of a world headed by a large meritocratic organization run something along the lines of the Pentagon, the Vatican or the Chinese Communist Government.
Those who argue against a world government are either naïve or else work for corporate handlers who wish to have the right to continue to plunder the planet without such impediments as human rights, the protection of nature or the rule of law.
The main battlefield over the future of the planet earth remains the battle for control of the financial system. The part of the financial system that matters the most now is the part that pays for men with guns who are actually ready to fight for their view of the future. In that sense the battle for control of the planet’s future is now centered on the ongoing fight over Middle-Eastern oil, the war over illegal drug money and the battle over control of the Federal Reserve Board.
On all of these fronts a lot has been happening. There was a lot of controversy generated over the report on this newsletter last week that the Federal Reserve Board had been nationalized. This claim was not just based on the (disputed by some) notion that the Federal Reserve Board had changed its home page to .gov from .org indicating it was now part of the government. The report was based on information provided by US military intelligence. In any case, the fact is that in analogue paper phone books, that cannot be altered (as the internet can), the Fed is not listed as a government institution. In future phone books in the United States at least, it now will be.

Debt Ceiling Debate: Don’t Mention Warfare/Welfare State!

The US Treasury’s recent announcement that the government will reach the debt ceiling on November 3 means Congress will soon be debating raising the government’s borrowing limit again. Any delay in, or opposition to, raising the debt ceiling will inevitably be met with hand-wringing over Congress’ alleged irresponsibility. But the real irresponsible act would be for Congress to raise the debt ceiling.
Cutting up its credit card is the only way to make Congress reduce spending. Anyone who doubts this should listen to the bipartisan whining over how sequestration has so drastically reduced spending that there is literally nothing left to cut. But, according to the Heritage Foundation, sequestration has only reduced spending from $3.6 trillion to $3.5 trillion. Only in DC would a less than one percent spending reduction be considered a draconian cut.
Defense hawks have found a way around sequestration by shoving billions of dollars into the Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) account. OCO spending is classified as “emergency” spending so it does not count against the spending limits, even when OCO is used for items that do not fit any reasonable definition of emergency.
Yet, even using OCO to boost military spending by as much as $80 billion does not satisfy the military-industrial complex’s ravenous appetite for taxpayer dollars.
During the majority of my time in Congress, debt ceiling increases were routinely approved. In fact, congressional rules once allowed the House of Representatives to increase the debt ceiling without a vote or even a debate! Congress’ need to appear to respond to growing concerns over federal spending has forced it to end the practice of rubber-stamping debt ceiling increases.
Continuously increasing spending will lead to rising inflation as the Federal Reserve tries to monetize the ever-increasing debt. This will eventually lead to a serious economic crisis. When the crisis occurs, Congress will have no choice but to cut spending. The question is not if, but when and under what circumstances, spending will be cut.
The only alternative for cutting spending in response to economic crisis involves Congress gradually unwinding the welfare state in a manner that does not harm those dependent on federal programs. Congress will not even consider doing this until enough people have embraced the ideas of liberty to force the politicians to reconsider the proper role of government.
Those who accept the premises of the welfare statists are incapable of making principled arguments against welfare and entitlement programs. Thus, they can only quibble over spending levels or how to more efficiently manage the federal bureaucracy. While fiscal conservatives may gain some minor victories with this approach, their failure to challenge the welfare state’s morality or effectiveness dooms any effort to seriously curtail welfare state spending.
Similarly, one cannot favor both serious reductions in the military budget and an aggressive foreign policy. So-called cheap hawks may achieve some reforms in the Pentagon’s budget. They many even succeed in killing a few wasteful weapons projects. However, their unwillingness to oppose a foreign policy of perpetual war means they will always cave in to the war hawks’ demands for ever-higher military budgets.
Those who understand the dangers from continuing on our current path should support efforts to stop Congress from raising the debt ceiling. However, supporters of liberty will not win the political battle over government spending on welfare and warfare until we win the intellectual battle over the role of government. Those of us who know the truth must do all we can to spread the ideas of liberty.

The latest innovation came this weekend from a New Jersey man named Chris Christie, who suggested that immigrants be tracked with all of the efficiency of FedEx. The number of UK-bound migrants in Calais has reached unprecedented levels, with an estimated 6,000 living in squalid conditions in the French port and nearly two thousand more in rapidly expanding "jungles" in nearby towns.
"We've never seen this many before," said Jean-François Corty of Médecins du Monde, which provides health care for refugees waiting for their chance to sneak onto a lorry or train and make it to Britain.

Host Lisa Garr was joined, in the first half of the program, by technology expert Richard Brodie, who discussed how everyday people become robotically enslaved by advertising, religion, fantasies, and cults through "mind viruses" or "memes." He described this phenomena as something which catches the attention, whether intentionally or inadvertently, and, in turn, "that act of absorbing it compels you to go out and spread the word." Brodie differentiated between memes and mind viruses by explaining that the latter are simply self-contained ideas which lend themselves to repeatability. On the other hand, he said, a virus of the mind is a complex "cultural organism" such as a religion, a government, or a way of life. To that end, he pointed to the idea of the 'American Dream' a meme while a political party would be a mind virus, since it actively attempts to spread its influence.
Brodie also talked about the controversial field of evolutionary psychology which proposes that human instincts and emotional responses evolved through Darwinian evolution. He argued that the concept allows for the "best explanation for why people have various underlying motivations." He used the example of how people pay attention to dangerous things because, in evolutionary times, failure to do so would likely result in death. Therefore, he said, this behavior would pass down and grow as humans evolved over time. Brodie noted that many of the motivating factors for modern humans appear to be rooted in the basic needs of their ancient ancestors, such as concerns about danger, the desire for food, and awareness of mating opportunities.

In the latter half, Charlie Frates, a ghost tour guide in Albuquerque, New Mexico, shared tales of hauntings from the Old Town portion of the city as well as his own paranormal experiences. "These are not stories," he said of the encounters he details during his tours, "these are actual tales from diaries, journals, and eyewitness accounts." He explained that they generally surround ghosts that have been seen multiple times by different, unrelated witnesses, thus eliminating the potential for urban legends or misidentifications. Frates also stressed that, due to his own paranormal experiences, he eschews the role of 'ghost hunter' and prefers to not personally engage these spirits, in order to avoid "any hitchhikers going home with me."
During his appearance, Frates recounted a number of ghost tales from famous locations in Albuquerque's Old Town district, such as a place known as the haunted chapel. He detailed how this chapel was built in the 1970's by a group of nuns and, during its construction, they saw an older woman wearing all black Victorian funeral garb wandering around the grounds. After the chapel was completed, the ghost seemed to move inside, where she was frequently seen rising from a pew, going to the center of the room, and then disappearing by dropping down through the floor. According to Frates, witnesses of this display often reacted with such shock and fear that they fainted and had to be taken to the hospital.

Wimps may hide certain "warrior" traits due maybe to the labelling from other people early on in childhood. I believe a wimp can be a warrior if the wimp already possess the appropriate traits. For the wimp who doesn't already possess these traits it will be a long and hard journey, if he lives long enough. This said, I believe that the wimp without warrior traits can be a commodity, for he may be very ingenious or possess great oratory and diplomatic ability. His strengths may not reside in the warrior realm but within the philosophical and this can prove invaluable.

Charles Nenner -- The Whole Economy is Turning Down
On the economy, Renowned analyst Charles Nenner predicts, “If you look at the business cycle, then you see the whole thing is turning down. It’s very regular. The problem is that we are not turning down from a GDP at 6%, we are turning down from a GDP of 1%. So, soon we are going to be very negative, and we are going to be in for a very negative deflationary crisis. It doesn’t mean the stock market is going to collapse now. It’s going to be the end of 2017. It’s one and a half years away. I think we could rally before the end of the year, but it will be a catastrophe in 2017. The Dow is going to 5,000 . . . by 2021. I have been saying this for years. If you are not safe before 2017, you can lose everything you have.”
Also, on the economy, Nenner warns, “It’s going to be very bad. My cycles show now unemployment is going up, which is another deflationary problem. Profits of companies will be very bad. . . . Everything is going to turn down. . . . The dollar is getting ready to go into a bear market, and next year will be the year of the Euro.”
On gold and silver, Nenner says, “I don’t think it will test the lows again, and it will take off in the first quarter of next year.”
