Build up to WW3 : The Russian Bear of Gog drops gas pipeline to EU, courts Turkey (Dec 03, 2014)

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin conducted a one-day powwow with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a meeting between two of the most outspoken and demagogic statesmen on the planet. Putin's visit to Ankara was carried out with fitting pageantry: an escort of liveried cavalrymen on horseback, a full military salute and a series of discussions in the cavernous halls of Erdogan's vast, new presidential palace.

Build Up to WW3 -- US Fighter Jets Intercept Six Russian Military Planes Off Alaskan Coast!

Two U.S. F-22 fighter jets intercepted six Russian military airplanes that were flying near Alaska, military officials said Friday.

Lt. Col. Michael Jazdyk, a spokesman for the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, said the jets intercepted the planes about 55 nautical miles from the Alaskan coast at about 7 p.m. Pacific time Wednesday.

Tensions are high between the United States and Russia as the two countries are increasingly at odds over Ukraine, where Russian-backed insurgents have been fighting for control of parts of the country.

The Russian planes were identified as two IL-78 refueling tankers, two Mig-31 fighter jets and two Bear long-range bombers. They looped south and returned to their base in Russia after the U.S. jets were scrambled.

At about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, two Canadian CF-18 fighter jets intercepted two of the long-range Russian Bear bombers about 40 nautical miles off the Canadian coastline in the Beaufort Sea.

Build Up to WW3 -- CHINA SENDS 12,000 TROOPS to the RUSSIA / CHINA BORDER - Coincides With Russia Nuclear Drills

According to a Russian media report, at least 12,000 heavily armed Chinese troops have been moved to the border with Russia as tensions in the region continue to build.

The report cites the Russian FSB Border service as saying that Beijing began dispatching troops to the border on September 6, with 12-15,000 soldiers making the trip backed by heavy artillery.

According to a translated quote that the report attributes to a Russian border representative, it is not yet clear why the troops have been concentrated on the border but that “something smells bad.” It remains to be seen whether the reported Chinese troops movements are related to large scale Russian nuclear drills set to take place on the Chinese border later this month. Russia announced its nuclear forces will conduct a drill along the border with China later this month.
Russia’s nuclear forces will hold another large-scale exercise this month along the country’s border with China.

According to Russian media outlets, on Wednesday Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that the country’s strategic missile forces (RVSN) would hold military exercises sometime in the month of September.

“There will be more than 4,000 military personnel and around 400 pieces of hardware involved in the exercises,” Maj. Dmitry Andreyev, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry’s Strategic Rocket Forces, was quoted as saying. He added that the drills would be conducted in the Altai Region of Siberia.

The exercises will be led by Colonel-General Sergei Karakayev, the commander of the RVSN, and held jointly with Barnaul-based missile troops unit. Special forces units would play the enemy in the exercises.

In announcing the drills on Wednesday, Maj. Andreyev emphasized that air power would play a large role in the exercises. “It is the first time that an extensive use of the Air Force, including supersonic jets Mig-31, has been planned in the exercises of that kind,” he said. Russia will also use SU-24s for air reconnaissance operations during the exercises. Maj. Andreyev went on to say the purpose of the drills “is to practice operations to rebuff subversive activities and attacks made by a presumed enemy with the use of high-precision weapons and fulfill combat tasks despite the enemy’s strong radio-electronic resistance and active operations the enemy conducts in the area where the strategic troops are deployed.

Russia’s nuclear forces have been active this year, previously conducting a massive exercise in March and another one in May. Since returning to power in the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin has stressed the importance of Russia’s nuclear arsenal even as he has sought to modernize its conventional forces.

As The Diplomat has noted in the past, Russia’s nuclear doctrine does not rule out the possibility of Moscow using nuclear weapons to counter a conventional attack against Russia itself or one of its neighbors. Throughout the Ukraine conflict this year, Russian officials have issued increasingly belligerent nuclear threats against Kiev and its Western allies.

Russia and China have been forging closer links in recent weeks and months, with the two super powers recently signing a $400bn deal for Gazprom to supply gas from Russia to China, the biggest natural gas deal sealed by Moscow since the collapse of the USSR. Work on the construction of the pipeline began last week.

Last week NATO also approved a “rapid response force” of 3,500 troops that would be situated at bases in Poland, Romania, and the Baltic states in a move that was widely seen as a further aggressive escalation aimed at Moscow.

Build up to WW3 - CHINA Starts WAR GAMES & Military Exercise Drills

China's participation in the Rim of the Pacific exercises is seen as an opportunity to build mutual trust amid tensions at sea with neighbors ranging from Vietnam and the Philippines to the south, to Japan in the east. hawaii

America's "WWIII, the Global Warming War" was launched by the Bush Pentagon in 2004 with this warning: . be the mother of all national security issues ... hit home sooner and harder than we ever imagined," reported Fortune, causing "massive droughts, turning farmland into dust bowls and forests to ashes." Accelerating population unrest, so that by "2020 there is little doubt that something drastic is happening ... an old pattern could emerge, warfare defining human life,"

In the past decade America spent over $7 trillion on the Pentagon's budget. We've had time for a new General Eisenhower to emerge, plan and launch a WWIII "D-Day" attack on the "Climate Change" battlefield. Instead, we're losing WWIII, in retreat, sabotaged by Big Oil, GOP political drama, and a powerful army of climate-science deniers ... as 2020 and the "mother of all national security issues" relentlessly targets our defenses.

But these regs are the global warming equivalent of video games fighting against combat-ready warriors, military strategies, weapons, B-2 bombers, nuclear armed drones and silo-launched missiles. We're still virtually defenseless against an enemy with a war chest of billions, millions of employees and science deniers, plus the backing of shareholders, politicians, lobbyists, bankers and auto owners.

But unfortunately, the new EPA regs aim too low, targeting aging power generators and coal-burning power plants with outdated technology, 4% of the industry's CO2 emissions. Worse, the full impact of the new regs won't kick in till 2030 pentagon WWIII? Where's the "D-Day" urgency? A decade after the Pentagon's warning that by 2020 "warfare will define human life," our leaders still lack moral conscience keeps drifting deep into pure materialism, short-term economic growth and jobs, survival of the planet and our civilization. Worse, we're ignoring the growing threat as the world's population explodes from 7 billion today to 10 billion by 2050, further accelerating unrest among all nations.

China's maritime periphery have heightened the need for better communication and closer coordination with other countries' navies. Chinese patrol boats are currently involved in standoffs over clashing territorial claims with its neighbors in the South China Sea, along with Japan over disputed uninhabited islands north of Taiwan.

U.S., China and two dozen Asia-Pacific nations adopted an agreement to improve communication at sea to reduce the possibility of misunderstandings that could lead to conflict in the heavily trafficked sea lanes surrounding China, Japan and Southeast Asia.

Build up to WW3 - RUSSIA PREPARES its MILITARY for 100% Combat Ready

Russia Prepares for an "Expected U.S. Nuclear Attack"
Our missiles would destroy Russia within ten minutes of launch
In response to the Obama Administration's Ukrainian coup that replaced the democratically elected pro-Russian President of Russia's neighboring country by a regime that is seeking to join NATO and become a base for U.S. nuclear missiles, Russia is girding for America's expected attack.

BurkoNews, an organization of journalists based in Crimea, headlined on 22 June 2014, "Why Is Russia Preparing for the Nuclear War?" and reported: "From the middle of May to early June 2014, the Russian Federation [i.e., 'Russia'] undertook two large command-staff exercises testing the realization of a local nuclear attack. According to military experts there were never such dense and extensive testing scenarios of nuclear war even in the Soviet Union. ... The 12th General Directory of the Ministry of Defense, which is the most secret department, was involved in the exercises."

Previously, the present reporter had headlined "Why Ukraine's Civil War Is of Global Historical Importance" and explained the connection between America's coup in Ukraine in February 2014 and America's re-start of the anti-Soviet Cold War.

The U.S. coup in Ukraine cannot be understood outside the context of that country's being able and willing now to allow the U.S. to place nuclear missiles right next door to Russia, close enough for a first-strike against Moscow to prevent any retaliation by Russia. Our missiles would destroy Russia within ten minutes of launch — too short a time-window for Russia to be able to respond.

Another recent report was headlined, "Indications that the U.S. Is Planning a Nuclear Attack Against Russia," and it described NATO military exercises and anti-Russian propaganda to prepare for a U.S.-led nuclear attack against Russia. In other words: this new "Cold War" is actually preparation for a nuclear war that is being not just planned but now actually being practiced in military exercises. One cannot understand U.S. President Barack Obama's propaganda campaign against Russia if one does not understand what it is heading towards.

Yet another article was headlined "How and Why the U.S. Has Re-Started the Cold War (The Backstory that Precipitated Ukraine's Civil War)," and it explained in even more depth the reason why Obama has been doing this.
Russia and China have just signed what is being called "the gas deal of the century", and the two countries are discussing moving away from the U.S. dollar and using their own currencies to trade with one another. This has huge implications for the future of the U.S. economy, but the mainstream media in the United States is being strangely quiet about all of this.

Russia Reignites The Proxy War: Putin Offers "Complete Support" To Iraq Prime Minister Scorned By Obama
Because clearly one can't have a global proxy war without China, and certainly without Russia

A month ago, when the fate of the historic (and now concluded) gas deal between Russia and China was still unknown we wrote that "Isolated Russia Makes Friends: To Hold Military Drill With China", a drill titled "Maritime Cooperation-2014″, and which, coincidentally, is taking place in the northern part (ahem Japan and Taiwan) of the East China Sea, just as Russia is conducting another massive airforce drill along its border with Ukraine on the weekend of Ukraine's presidential election.

As part of the drill, which is taking place between May 20 and 26, the Chinese and Russian naval vessels conducted maneuvers in the exercise area covering such missions as joint escort, joint rescue the hijacked ship, a joint verification of identification and joint air, sea assault on joint exercises and other subjects.

Build up to WW3 - RUSSIA Moves ANTI-SHIP MISSILES to CRIMEA

Moscow has responded to the United States sending the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun into the Black Sea by deploying a Bastion anti-ship missile system in Sevastopol, according to reports.

Image: Bastion missile complex movement on the streets Crimea.

"Unconfirmed news reports claim the Russian Navy is deploying land-based 'Bastion' anti-ship missile systems as a response to the recent U.S. move entering two naval vessels to the Black Sea," reports Defense Update.

An image accompanying the article purports to show a truck carrying some of the equipment, which eyewitnesses said was installed in Sevastopol on Saturday night.

"The system is designed for the destruction of various surface ships from an enemy's landing squadrons, convoys, carrier strike groups, as well as single vessels and land-based radiocontrast targets in conditions of intensive fire and electronic countermeasures. The system uses the P-800 Yakhont (SS-N-26) anti-ship cruise missile and has a maximum range of 300 km," states a separate report on a Vietnamese military website.

On Thursday, the US Navy announced that the USS Truxtun was headed for the Black Sea in order to conduct military exercises with Bulgarian and Romanian naval forces.

The Montreux Convention mandates that ships belonging to countries which do not border the Black Sea can only stay in the region for a maximum period of 21 days.

The move follows Russia's decision to fortify its presence in the Black Sea, with two warships returning to the Black Sea fleet in Crimea last week. Ukraine responded by sending one of its own vessels into the region on the same day.

Americans may not believe in going to war over Ukraine, but if a recent CNN poll can be taken at face value nearly 60 percent think sanctions are doable. Nearly six in 10 of those questioned say they support economic sanctions against Moscow by the U.S. and its allies in an attempt to force Russia to remove its forces from the Crimean peninsula, and try to prevent Russia from sending forces to other parts of Ukraine. Nearly four in 10 oppose economic sanctions. Last week the Obama administration laid the groundwork for sanctions against Russia.

Secretary of State John Kerry, during an interview with the wife of a former Federal Reserve boss, expressed incredulity when asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin's claim there are no Russian troops in Ukraine. Putin said the armed men are Ukrainian volunteers and security personnel from a Russian version of Blackwater. Russia has a naval base in Crimea.
The U.S. has around 1,000 military bases around the world. The Pentagon, however, puts the number at 662 in 38 different countries.

Kerry's outrage and the corporate media manufactured opposition to Russia's supposed invasion of Ukraine would be far less hypocritical if Americans were not so oblivious to the bases their government maintains in foreign countries.

Russia warned the United States on Friday that any sanctions imposed on Moscow over its response to the crisis in Ukraine would "boomerang" back on the United States, as U.S. officials continued to explore ways to resolve the standoff diplomatically.

In a telephone conversation with Secretary of State John Kerry, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that U.S. sanctions could "backfire" and urged the U.S. not to take "hasty, poorly thought-out steps that could harm Russian-U.S. relations," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

"Sanctions...would inevitably hit the United States like a boomerang," the statement added, according to a Reuters report.

Build up to WW3 - RUSSIAN Military Base Bear UKRAINE Border Gets New Sukhoi Su-33 FIGHTER JETS

Build up to WW3 - RUSSIAN Military Base Bear UKRAINE Border Gets New Sukhoi Su-33 FIGHTER JETSThe Sukhoi Su-33 (Russian: Сухой Су-33; NATO reporting name: Flanker-D) is an all-weather carrier-based air defence fighter designed by Sukhoi and manufactured by KnAAPO. It is a derivative of the Su-27 "Flanker" and was initially known as the Su-27K. First used in operations in 1995 aboard the carrier Admiral Kuznetsov,[N 1] the fighter officially entered service in August 1998, by which time the designation "Su-33" was used. Following the break-up of the Soviet Union and the subsequent downsizing of the Russian Navy, only 24 aircraft were produced. Attempted sales to China and India fell through.Compared with the Su-27, the Su-33 has a strengthened undercarriage and structure, folding wings and stabilators, all for carrier operations. The wings are larger than on land-based aircraft for increased lift. The Su-33 has upgraded engines and a twin nose wheel, and is air refuelable. In 2009, the Russian Navy ordered the MiG-29K as a replacement for the Su-33.With the break-up of the Soviet Union, the Russian Navy was dramatically downsized, with many shipbuilding programmes stopped. Had the Varyag, Oryol and Ulyanovsk been commissioned, a total of 72 production airframes would have been built; the early-airborne warning and MiG-29K would also have proceed, instead of being abandoned.[7] Only 24 examples were built at the time Varyag was sold to China.[1] In 2009, the Russian Navy announced an order for 24 MiG-29Ks to replace the Su-33, to be delivered from 2011 to 2015. U.S. air defense systems reacted Monday when two of four nuclear-capable Russian bombers veered from Alaska to within 50 miles of the Californian coast — the closest since the Cold War. Build Up to WW3 -- Russian army moving to Ukraine

The west is trying to start wars everywhere.. its ridiculous... so desperate to make money for the military industrial complex.

Kiev blames Moscow for the separatist rising in east Ukraine, where the death toll rose on Saturday after pro-Russian separatists shot down a Ukraine army transport plane, and tensions are also high following Russia’s annexation of Crimea. There is no separatist in east Ukraine. There was an insurgency in west Ukraine which got rid of the Ukraine government in February, 2014. After that, there was no government in Ukraine. Then the insurgent started to form a government in west Ukraine and Donetsk, Lugansk started to form their governments. So now there are three independent governments. Donetsk and Lugansk are two independent countries. The action of the west Ukraine government in sending military to Donetsk and Lugansk is an invasion. As independent countries, Russia could send weapons and soldiers to help Donetsk and Lugansk to defend themselves.

Build Up to WW3 -- Iran Sends Troops Into Iraq. US Sends Aircraft Carrier!

Iran sends in troops into Iraq in order to help their neighbour (Who they're not exactly on good terms with) to rid the presence of al-Qaeda. The US has sent in a warship "just in case" they should need it. Additionally, the Pentagon stated that they need to protect their interests in Iraq.

Clearly any escalation of this chaos will lead to more military intervention, more death, and more money spent needlessly.

Build up to WW3 - G7 Leaders Send a Blunt Message to Putin

Vladimir Putin, shut out of a G7 summit over Russia's role in Ukraine, parried the snub on Thursday with a terse message for world leaders who lunched without him in Brussels on Thursday: "Bon appetit".

Putin should have been hosting the heads of leading industrialized nations at a summit of the G8 in the Black Sea resort of Sochi this week.

But the G7 nations scotched those plans in protest against Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region in March, and the leaders of the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and Japan held their summit without him.

Asked how he felt about this, Putin barely broke stride to spit out an answer to Kremlin reporters who had been advised to await him at the bottom of a sweeping staircase at the Russian Geographical Society after a meeting on Arctic policy.

"I would like to wish them bon appetit," he said, using the Russian equivalent of the phrase, and then walked away swiftly.

Russia joined the G7 in 1997, making it the G8 and marking a milestone in Moscow's rapprochement with the West after the collapse of communism and breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991.

But the crisis in Ukraine has driven Russia's relations with the United States and European Union to a post-Cold War low. Western nations have imposed visa bans and asset freezes on officials, lawmakers and companies close to Putin.

At the G7 summit, which was ending on Thursday, the leaders threatened to impose harder-hitting sanctions on Russia if it did not help restore stability to eastern Ukraine, where Western nations accuse Moscow of supporting separatists.

Putin's isolation from the West is only partial. From St Petersburg he was flying to France, where he was to have supper with President Francois Hollande later on Thursday before taking part in D-Day 70th anniversary commemorations on Friday.

Putin was also expected to hold separate meetings with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron while in France, but no meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama was scheduled.

During his 90-minute phone conversation with President Obama on Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin hinted that Russian military intervention in Ukraine could go beyond Crimea, the region now under effectively occupied by Russia.

Image: Vladimir Putin (Wiki Commons).

That's according to the Kremlin's brief account of the phone call, initiated by Obama.

"Vladimir Putin stressed that in case of any further spread of violence to Eastern Ukraine and Crimea, Russia retains the right to protect its interests and the Russian-speaking population of those areas," it said.

Roughly one-third of Ukraine as a whole is considered Russia-leaning, an area about ten times bigger than Crimea. Those are the regions where a majority voted for the pro-Russian Viktor Yanukovich -- now former president -- in the 2010 election, and where most first-language Russian speakers live.

Sometimes it seems our country has traded places with the cold war communists of days past. We may not agree with everything that Putin does in the name of Russia, but at least he is willing to do what our President is not in the US -- protect his people from genetically modified foods.

Ukraine Is A Time Bomb Ready To Blow
Alex and William F Jasper cover the waterfront of issues facing our nation including the standing situation in the Ukraine, the loss of individual liberties and the agenda of Globalists to destroy America.

As the column rolled into town flying a Russian flag, there was rampant speculation about who these men in mismatched camouflage armed with a variety of guns were. Some held machine guns, others had sniper rifles and even small rocket launchers. They wore St George's ribbons, the Russian victory day symbol that has been adopted as the emblem of the anti-Kiev "people's militia" in eastern Ukraine.

The men themselves were reluctant to talk to journalists about their identity, intentions or where they had obtained the armoured vehicles. But the bulk of them appeared to be from the ranks of the same armed militia that has seized government buildings around the region in recent days. Former U.S. Diplomat: Send U.S. Ground Troops to Ukraine
A former U.S. diplomat and member of the Council on Foreign Relations, James Jeffrey, is calling for U.S. ground troops to be injected into the brewing civil war in Ukraine. Jeffery is a visiting fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a beltway think tank controlled by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and associated with the neocon wing of the Republican Party.

"The best way to send Putin a tough message and possibly deflect a Russian campaign against more vulnerable NATO states is to back up our commitment to the sanctity of NATO territory with ground troops, the only military deployment that can make such commitments unequivocal," Jeffrey writes for The Washington Post, an establishment newspaper often used by neocons to push pro-war propaganda and the concept of American exceptionalism, the philosophical basis for imperialism and warmongering.

Ukraine is on the verge of major armed conflict as government forces launch their first significant military action in the east of the country, where they have clashed with about 30 armed pro-Russian gunmen at a provincial airfield.

Shots were fired in Kramatorsk airport as Ukrainian special forces stormed in to reassert Kiev's control. As troop helicopters hovered above and tempers flared, a Ukrainian general was set upon by a group of local people incensed that two protesters had been injured, knocking off his military-issue fur hat and yelling, "Jail him."

Build up to WW3 - OBAMA Speaks About UKRAINE CRISIS & RUSSIA

Russia, Turkey and Cuba reported the beating of Alexander Panteleymonov, the director of Ukraine's state-run NTU television company, but the story is apparently not important enough to air on American corporate news networks.

Panteleymonov, as the video shows, was beaten by Svoboda party fascists and forced to resign his office for daring to air the signing ceremony of Crimea joining the Russian Federation after a popular referendum held last weekend voted to secede from the country.

Igor Miroshnichenko, a Verkhovna Rada MP infamous for an antisemitic slur leveled against Ukrainian Jewish actress Mila Kunis, shoved and punched Panteleymonov.

"Write your resignation! Sit down! I told you, sit down!" the gang of ultra-nationalists yelled at the TV network boss. "You are feasting in my Ukraine!... Here is a paper, pen, write the resignation now quickly, you animal... You Muscovite (a derogatory word for Russian) garbage!"

Coup leaders in Kyiv have rejected the Crimea referendum, refuse to pull troops off the peninsula following a March 17 vote to secede, and are preparing for war.

"Crimea was, is, and will be our territory," Defense Minister Ihor Tenyukh declared in a statement delivered at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center. "Ukrainian forces will stay [in Crimea] until all their tasks have been completed."

U.S. State Department favorite Vitali Klitschko, who was passed over for central banker Arseniy Yatsenyuk to lead the coup government, said Ukrainian troops will stay in Crimea.

Klitscho cited a March 16 peace treaty agreement allowing Ukrainian soldiers to move freely in Crimea. According to Tenyukh, the Russians thus far have respected the agreement. Ukraine has used it to resupply troops on the peninsula.

One of Ukraine's top politicians has told Sky News his country is ready to fight if Russian soldiers cross the border from Crimea into mainland Ukraine.

Serhiy Taruta, governor of the eastern city of Donetsk, warned: "We're going to have a war. Our people will take up arms and they will protect our country."

The tense stand-off came as Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a draft bill for Crimea's annexation and defended his government's actions in a speech to both houses of parliament in Moscow.

A United States surveillance drone has been intercepted above the Ukranian region of Crimea, a Russian state arms and technology group said Friday.

"The drone was flying at about 4,000 metres (12,000 feet) and was virtually invisible from the ground. It was possible to break the link with US operators with complex radio-electronic" technology, said Rostec in a statement.

So, let's get this straight. The United States is all for democracy and democracy is about voting and making sure the majority rules. If a majority in Crimea votes to align itself with Russia because most Crimeans have an affinity for Russia, the United States and the United Nations, the latter sitting on the lap of the former, will decide democracy is illegal.

Earlier today Estonian Defense Minister Urmas Reinsalu said he's sure Russia plans to invade Ukraine. This was carried uncritically and sans any objective examination by the corporatist establishment media in the United States:

Incidentally, the fathers of the founding fathers of the EU were Nazis. Maybe that's why the EU is using Hitler's Big Lie to its fullest potential now.

Despite the obvious bias of Reinsalu's comment -- and the ignored fact Ukraine has admitted there are no Russian troops on the border poised to strike -- the media in the United States is now running around like Chicken Little screaming that the sky is falling, Russia will invade Ukraine, and the world demands we do something.

We, of course, means the establishment because, as polls show, the American people want nothing to do with the whole sordid affair.

Build Up to WW3 -- Tensions Rise As The U.S. Imposes Laughable Sanctions On Russia

President Obama announced he's imposing new sanctions on top Russian officials and a bank. Russia also imposed sanctions of its own.

Cyprus housing market is declining as capital controls continue to be implemented. The Greece people are staging protest on Government enforced austerity. The US housing market is imploding on itself and the outlook for spring, blame it on weather. Facebook has been busted, they allow the NSA to spy on the American people. The US imposed additional sanctions on a select group of Russians and Ukrainians. Russia has now retaliated and imposed sanctions on a select group of Americans. Tensions between Russia and American are increasing and the war drums are beating louder. Be prepared for an event to start the war.

Build up to WW3 - OBAMA Announces SANCTIONS to be Imposed on RUSSIA Amid UKRAINE CRISIS

)

CNN and Fox talk endlessly about the opposition by Ukrainians to the presence of Russian troops, but you never hear about the fact over 90 percent of Okinawans oppose the presence of U.S. troops in Japan's southernmost prefecture.

In addition to hypocrisy on bases, the American people are woefully ignorant about the number of transnational corporations based in Russia.

Danny Vinik, writing for New Republic last week, says transnational corporations are "scared" of sanctions on Russia. Sacred? More like adamant about not losing a red cent to the self-righteous hyperbolic soundbites of Obama and crew.

A large number of corporations would be impacted by the measure, including but hardly limited to PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, General Motors, Ford, Caterpillar, IBM, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, ExxonMobil, Chevorn, Boeing, ConocoPhillips, and many others doing business in Russia.

If Russia imposes retaliatory measures, you can bet sanctions cooked by the West will fizzle in short order. Obama and Congress may rant about the evil Vladimir Putin and the aggressive Russian bear, but that's all hot air and rhetoric.
Transnational corporations and international banks own Congress. They get Congress critters elected and re-elected and write Obama's teleprompter script. They are not about to let billions of dollars slide down the tubes because of troubles in Russia's backyard.

A Kremlin economist, Sergei Glazyev, told RIA Novosti the Russian government may not repay loans owed to the financial cartel if the United States imposes sanctions on the country in response to the Crimea intervention.

"If sanctions are applied against state structures, we will be forced to recognize the impossibility of repayment of the loans that the US banks gave to the Russian structures. Indeed, sanctions are a double-edged weapon, and if the US chooses to freeze our assets, then our equities and liabilities in dollars will also be frozen. This means that our banks and businesses will not return the loans to American partners," he said.

Additionally, Glazyev said, Russia would likely dump the dollar to reduce its dependence on the U.S. financial system and switch to other currencies. "We have wonderful economic and trade relations with our Southern and Eastern partners," he said. "We will find a way not just to eliminate our dependence on the U.S. but also profit from these sanctions."

In addition to battering the banking system, Russia has the ability to inflict serious economic damage on Europe. As noted in a report issued by the Capital Economics research group, Russia is a major supplier of oil to Germany, the Netherlands, and "Western Europe generally." The market share of the Russian gas giant Gazprom is expected to grow in the years ahead.

Build up to WW3 -- OBAMA's WARNING to RUSSIA - U.S. is Looking at Steps to ISOLATE RUSSIA over UKRAINE CRISIS

OBAMA's WARNING to RUSSIA - U.S. is Looking at Steps to ISOLATE RUSSIA over UKRAINE CRISIS

President Barack Obama said Monday that if Russia continues an incursion into the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, the United States would take diplomatic and economic steps to "isolate" the country.

Speaking to reporters in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama said that invading the Ukrainian territory was a "violation of international law" that puts Russian President Vladimir Putin "on the wrong side of history."

"What cannot be done is for Russia with impunity to put its soldiers on the ground and violate basic principles that are recognized around the world," Obama said. Qualifying his threat on Friday that "there will be costs" for a Russian invasion, the president added, "Over time this will be a costly proposition for Russia."

"If in fact they continue on the current trajectory they're on, then we are examining a whole series of steps—economic, diplomatic—that will isolate Russia and will have a negative impact on Russia's economy and status in the world," Obama said.

State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters Monday that it was "likely" the United States and allies would pursue sanctions against Russia. "At this point we're not just considering sanctions, given the actions Russia is taking," she said. "It is likely that we will put those in place, and we are preparing that right now."

American officials conceded Sunday that Russian military forces now have "complete operational control" of the Crimean peninsula, the home of Russia's Black Sea naval base, a day after Putin won the approval of his parliament to invade Ukraine.

Obama called on Congress to swiftly approve an aid package for the fledgling Ukrainian government. "I would hope that would be the first order of business," when Congress reconvenes for votes later this week, Obama said, adding he hoped the issue would be "outside of partisanship." Moscow's move to occupy Crimea with Russian troops is a declaration of war on Ukraine according to interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.

"This is actually a declaration of war on my country. We urge Putin to pull back his troops from this country and honour bilateral agreements. If he wants to be the president who started a war between two neighboring and friendly countries, he has reached his target within a few inches," said Yatseniuk, warning, "We are on the brink of disaster."

Although there has been no violence, Russian troops now occupy key positions throughout the Crimean peninsula, including airports and communication hubs.

Ukrtransgaz, a Naftogaz Ukrainy subsidiary, operates the natural gas pipelines in Ukraine. The pipelines are used to transit Russian natural gas to eighteen European countries, including France and Italy. Naftogaz is the sole importer of Russian natural gas provided by Gazprom, the largest extractor of natural gas and one of the largest companies in the world.

Russian-controlled natural gas giant Gazprom has threatened to disrupt gas supplies to Europe following warnings by John Kerry and others that harsh economic sanctions could be imposed on Moscow, as the Ukraine crisis threatens to spiral into a trade war.

"Simmering political tensions in Ukraine, that are aggravated by inadequate economic conditions, may cause disruptions of gas supplies to Europe," the company announced today.

Although the monopoly said it would attempt to reduce export risks, Gazprom's chief financial officer Andrei Kruglov cautioned that Ukraine had failed to fulfil its debt obligations. This followed Gazprom spokesperson Sergai Kupriyanov's warning on Saturday that Ukraine would see its account with Gazprom canceled as a result of an overdue tab of $1.5 billion dollars.

President Obama spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin for 90 minutes on Saturday following the "uncontested arrival" of Russian tanks in Ukraine.

The White House released a photo of that phone call, with Obama decked out in rugged denim.

The Reagan-esque image is an almost comically effort by the White House to portray a tough looking Obama to the American people, a likely reaction to the pointed criticism over his timid response to Putin's aggression.

Build up to WW3 - RUSSIAN TROOPS in Uneasy Standoff with UKRAINE TROOPS in CRIMEA

Obama, Merkel, and Cameron are now on a conference call to discuss this "fact" and officials have just reported that US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Kiev tomorrow (though we suspect not Sevastopol): -- U.S. IS FOCUSED ON ECONOMIC, POLITICAL AND DIPLOMATIC OPTIONS ON UKRAINE, NOT ON ANY POSSIBLE U.S. MILITARY INTERVENTION, U.S. OFFICIAL SAYS -- *U.S. CONSIDERING SANCTIONS ON RUSSIAN BANKS, OFFICIAL SAYS

Russian forces now "have complete operational control of the Crimean Peninsula," a senior U.S. administration official said Sunday of the escalating crisis in Ukraine. The United States estimates there are 6,000 Russian ground and naval forces in the region, the official said. Amid the tensions, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Kiev on Tuesday, an Obama administration official said.

Ukraine's new leaders accused neighbor Russia of declaring war, as Kiev mobilized troops and called up military reservists in a rapidly escalating crisis that has raised fears of a conflict.

Amid signs of Russian military intervention in Ukraine's Crimean peninsula, Russian generals led their troops to three bases in the region Sunday, demanding Ukrainian forces surrender and hand over their weapons, Vladislav Seleznyov, spokesman for the Crimean Media Center of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, told CNN.

Speaking by phone, he said Russian troops had blocked access to the bases, but added, "There is no open confrontation between Russian and Ukrainian military forces in Crimea" and said Ukrainian troops continue to protect and serve Ukraine.

"This is a red alert. This is not a threat. This is actually a declaration of war to my country," Ukrainian interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

Speaking in a televised address from the parliament building in the capital, Kiev, he called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to "pull back his military and stick to the international obligations."

"We are on the brink of the disaster."

"Putin is playing chess, and I think we are playing marbles — and I don't think it's even close," he said.

"I believe it's the naïve position of the National Security Council and the president's advisers that, if we just keep giving things to Russia, they'll wake up and say, 'the United States is not that bad,'" Rogers said. "That is completely missing the motivations of why Russia does what Russia does."

Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told CNN "we have a weak and indecisive president," and Obama's lack of bellicose response "invites aggression."

"None of us should be under any illusion about what President Putin is capable of doing in Ukraine," said Senator John McCain, an Arizona Republican, in a statement. "Every moment that the United States and our allies fail to respond sends the signal to President Putin that he can be even more ambitious and aggressive in his military intervention in Ukraine."

"Every moment that the United States and our allies fail to respond sends the signal to President Putin that he can be even more ambitious and aggressive in his military intervention in Ukraine," McCain said in a statement. "There is a range of serious options at our disposal at this time without the use of military force. I call on President Obama to rally our European and NATO allies to make clear what costs Russia will face for its aggression and to impose those consequences without further delay."

On Saturday the junior senator from Florida, Republican Marco Rubio, took to the pages of Politico to condemn Putin and Russia. "This is a critical moment in world history," he ominously warned. "The credibility of the alliances and security assurances that have preserved the international order is at stake. If Putin's illegal actions are allowed to stand unpunished, it will usher in a dark and dangerous era in world affairs."

“The modern banking system manufactures money out of nothing. The process is, perhaps, the most astounding piece of sleight of hand that was ever invented. Banks can in fact inflate, mint and un-mint the modern ledger-entry currency.” Major L L B Angus

The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits or so dependent on its favours that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of the people mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system will bear its burdens without complaint and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests.

When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government, applied by a central power of wealth under control of leading financiers.

This truth is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of Capital to govern the world.
