US can't sue Saudi Arabia because of Petrodollar system
US President Barack Obama has vetoed a bill that would have allowed the families of the 9/11 attack victims to sue Saudi Arabia.
Obama says the bill is harmful to US national interests. The US president explained the bill allows lawsuits against the US officials for actions by foreign groups that receive US aid and equipment. Supporters of the legislation say they are confident they can succeed in overturning the president’s action. Congressional leaders plan to override the presidential veto in the coming days. The Saudi government denies any links to the 9/11 attacks which killed nearly three-thousand people in 2001. This is while declassified documents show the US intelligence had multiple suspicions about links between the Saudi government and the attackers. Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.
